The contact owns a 2000 Ford focus. For one month, the key didn¿t fit into the ignition and when it was in the ignition, it would not turn. Due to the failure, the vehicle will not start. As of March 16, 2008, the vehicle will no longer start. The vehicle will be towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The current and failure mileages were 98,000.

Key would not come out of the ignition. Consumer took vehicle to dealer and they replaced the intergrated control module.
While in motion, the vehicle suddenly stopped in the middle of the road. The mechanic informed consumer that the ignition module had caused a surge of electrical power that impacted the alternator and caused the vehicle to stop. Consumer is requesting reimbursement of monies paid.
The ignition key and lock were extremely hot to touch when consumer went to turn the engine off, vehicle was taken to dealership and they could not explain what may have caused the problem, consumer was informed that there were no recalls.
Consumer was traveling about 25mph on a side street making a left turn and vehicle just shut off without prior warning. Dealership wasn't aware of problem. But consumer will be notified.

Vehicle continuosly stalls out at highway speeds. Consumer must pull over and wait about 5 minutes to restart vehicle. Consumer has taken vehicle to dealer twice, but dealer cannot determine cause. There was a recall on emission and service was done by the dealer prior to the stalling problem.
While driving and getting close to a light vehicle will stall, and steering wheel will lock up. . Same problem had happen more then ten times.
Engine stalled at highway speeds without warning. Took vehicle to dealer, and they couldn't duplicate problem.

While traveling at 50 mph engine check light came on. Engine stalled, and steering locked up. Consumer felt that this was very unsafe because driver was unable to steer properly.
Vehicle stalls intermittently and fails to start intermittently. Dealership said the first time that it was a fuel pump failure, second time it was a defective fuel pump, third time it was the fuel sensor and fuel module. Now doing it again. Reported to the dealership awaiting report on this fourth incident.
While driving consumer smelled smoke, stopped car , popped hood and saw fire near spark plugs, consumer indicated that fire went out by itself, consumer felt it may have been an electrical problem, and that vehicle was not safe.
Ignition will only work intermittently. Been to dealer who cannot remedy problem.
At any speed vehicle will shut off with no warning.
Rough idle in cold weather. Spark plugs replaced to eliminate failure.
Failure on the engine, consumer was driving at high speed and the vehicle cut off without any warning.
Air conditioner doesn't get cold--car also idles very low to the point where it stalls out.
While driving on highway without warning vehicle will completely shut down, cause unknown. The dealer had replaced the transmission twice.
Problem is intermittent; when driving at any speed and without prior warning vehicle will cut off. Also, noticed shimmying coming from front end. Consumer has contacted dealer, dealer unable to determine the cause. Please provide any further details.
When driving at approximately various speeds engine will stall out ,loses power. Put in neutral and give it gas so it can react correctly. Dealer has had vehicle five times. Replaced spark plugs and wires, ignition coil. Defect is stii reocurring.
