The front right seat occupant had used the seat heater. The next day, the seat cover and cushion was burned through. The vehicle was parked in the driveway at home. Apparently the heating element caught fire.
The contact owns a 2000 Ford Excursion. The contact was sitting in the driver's seat with the engine off when he smelled a burning odor. He then observed the front passenger heated seat ignited into flames. The contact extinguished the extensive flames. The front passenger seat was completely destroyed. The authorized dealer was notified of the failure and they advised that the vehicle be inspected. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was unknown.
