The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the spark plug had ejected from the cylinder head. As a result, the spark plug needed to be replaced. I had been out of town when my 2000 Ford Excursion had a door ajar dummy light fail to shut off. I attempted to figure out what was causing the door ajar light to remain on but never did find the problem. I ended up driving home so I could make an appointment with my dealer to have it checked out. I was able to get the truck home, but as I was driving through my subdivision my truck made a noise, then made a much louder noise, and began running really rough. A strong odor of fuel filled the passenger compartment of my truck. I immediately shut off the engine so my truck wouldn't ignite, but that left me stranded in the middle of the road. I have since been told that the triton v10 engine blew a spark plug and it's been quoted at $4200 to be repaired at the closest dealership and $3500 at the dealership where I purchased the truck but I have to have it towed again.
