While driving along a local road, the vehicle was maneuvered abruptly to the left to avoid wildlife. The rear seat occupant stated that the seat belt "broke". After investigating it was found that the driver side middle row passenger seat belt stitching failed at the point where the belt loops around the anchor point mounted to the floor. The seat belt had pulled free of the anchor point.

The contact owns a 2004 Ford Excursion. The contact stated that the rear passenger seat belt failed and thread separated, causing the seat belt to become partially inoperable. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but the vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and the current mileage was 235,000.
