While merging onto 75mph highway, without warning, vehicle lost all power making steering nearly impossible. We were able to move onto shoulder just at the point where highway and on ramp met. We could not restart vehicle and had we made it onto highway, could have very easily been rear ended by oncoming traffic. This is the second time we have lost complete power with this vehicle. We had same situation in July and had paid over two thousand dollars to have fuel system repaired. Ford had recall on this but our truck's VIN did not fall under recall. However, have concerns for others who have vehicles whose vins are not part of the recall. Another family may not be as fortunate as we were yesterday. Ford is aware of these issues and I hope Ford does not wait until lives are lost due to their faulty vehicles!.
Vehicle would not start or was very difficult to start if it was cold soaked for more than 6 hours. When it did start it was not drivable for approximately 5 minutes and during that time it ran extremely rough (shaking the entire truck) with excessive black exhaust. This situation has occurred for all winter.
The ficm in my diesel 6. 0 is bad. Ford claims my vehicle is not one of the ones affected by their recall on this item. However, the 6. 0 engine was not a good engine it caused Ford a lot of money in repairs because of this same problem. My issue is if Ford knows the ficm is bad in these engines why do they not replace them and add them to the current recall. I have the 200,000 extended warranty and my original 100,000 warranty just ended about 2000 miles ago. Under the 100,000 mile warranty the replacement would have been covered but under the extended 200,000 warranty it is not. I feel that this is just a paper push type cover up. 1. Ford knows this engine was not as good as their 7. 3 engine b/c they immediately started producing the 6. 4 engine to replace the 6. 0 2. Ford knows the ficm is bad in theses engines and it has had to replace many of them because of this problem 3. If they admittedly know the engine was crappy. And had a problem with the ficm why will they not fix the problem. I would not have a problem with paying for a repair on any vehicle if I knew it was from wear and tear. But this is due to faulty manufaturning Ford says quality is job 1. . . This is not a quality engine and I don't feel that I should be penalized because of it. I have always driven Fords and this is my 4th diesel engine. I have never had a problem with any of them but they were all 7. 3 diesels. How can I get my truck added to the recall with the faulty ficm to get it repaired by the dealership?.
2005 Ford Excursion stalled in traffic and wouldn't restart. Diagnosed as defective fuel injector control module. This module and wiring harness was recalled on this model in 2005, however my VIN wasn't included in the recall. Ford refusing to cover the cost of repair. It only has 43k miles.
