1 Other Fuel System problem of the 2005 Ford Excursion

Failure Date: 11/12/2016

While driving the truck the accelerator becomes nonresponsive and soon after the truck shuts down, complete power loss. Very difficult to steer and brake. It will start back up most of the time, but on occasion it will take 20 to 30 minutes to re-start. Ford has a recall for this # 05s34. My VIN indicates that my Excursion isn't under this recall, but this is exactly what is happening. This event happens on city streets and highways, while driving or sitting at a stop sign or stop light. This event has become more frequent as my wife will no longer drive it do to the vehicles handling/breaking issues without power so I only drive it on weekends. It happens at least once a day sometimes repeatedly within seconds after restarting and sometimes never again during the weekend. It also is not time or distance related. It has happened leaving our house and it has happened 20 minutes into a drive. Very sporadic.

4 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Ford Excursion

Failure Date: 12/28/2012

While driving the vehicle, it will go into a reduce power mode or sometimes stall. This has happened at various speeds, from around town to higway driving. Very dangerous condition when trying to make left turns and power is lost or engine stalls. Also engine fails to start or starts and stalls right away on ocassion. Call Ford customer relations and dealer and they tell me my VIN is not covered under the recall. I am experiencing the same symptoms but I am not covered. Don't want to spend more money at dealer if they don't know what is is happening and how to fix it.

5 Other Fuel System problem of the 2005 Ford Excursion

Failure Date: 11/23/2012

While merging onto 75mph highway, without warning, vehicle lost all power making steering nearly impossible. We were able to move onto shoulder just at the point where highway and on ramp met. We could not restart vehicle and had we made it onto highway, could have very easily been rear ended by oncoming traffic. This is the second time we have lost complete power with this vehicle. We had same situation in July and had paid over two thousand dollars to have fuel system repaired. Ford had recall on this but our truck's VIN did not fall under recall. However, have concerns for others who have vehicles whose vins are not part of the recall. Another family may not be as fortunate as we were yesterday. Ford is aware of these issues and I hope Ford does not wait until lives are lost due to their faulty vehicles!.

6 Other Fuel System problem of the 2001 Ford Excursion

Failure Date: 07/23/2012

The approximate date above is the first time my Excursion blew out a spark plug while on a family trip in PA. Since then, it has blown 2 more in separate instances, the most recent being on the highway this past Sunday. The first incident I was towing and putting more strain on the engine, but the 2nd and 3rd incidents no towing was involved. I have read about and several mechanics have also told me the Ford triton engines are known for this problem. It seems Ford should do the right thing and fix the problem.

7 Other Fuel System problem of the 2003 Ford Excursion

Failure Date: 04/01/2004

The 2003 Ford Excursion 6. 0 liter diesel, first broke down while driving home from the dealer who was working on recall items. The vehicle stalled while driving less than 2 miles from the dealer (dealer now out of business). After a while the vehicle began losing power, but not stalling while driving, especially up hills. After many attempts to clean parts, egr valve etc, it was stated that the injectors were bad. All injectors replaced. Front main leaf spring broke on the vehicle, and had to be replaced - the spring was no longer available, -the repair facility stated that this vehicle has been historically undersized, and they stopped making the original spring, because too many were breaking. We then again started experiencing a loss of power while driving - at this time my kids were driving the car, and this was particularly worrisome. My repair shop sent the vehicle to a heavy truck and diesel repair shop, specializing in ambulances. After charging me $3000 to fix my problems (various pieces an part related to the engine, fuel system, etc), the vehicle seemed to operate well. While up in cleveland for thanksgiving, the vehicle lost power on the highway - . Had to have it towed to a dealer, and rent a replacement during our vacation. The dealer said more of the fuel/engine issues and after charging me another $1500, I was able to drive home. Less than one month later, same stalling issues. The vehicle would simply stall, at low speed, high speed, under load, or no load - towed again to my repair person, and he sent it to a different diesel mechanic who told me that diesel is leaking into the engine, the injectors again need to be replaced, that it has never been fixed properly, and that this engine is notorious for having very significant problem. I am out of a vehicle, down to one for the family, and unable to afford getting it fixed - again.
