Turned on my heated drivers seat as I left my driveway, shortly after I smelled something burning. Pulled into store parking lot, turned Excursion off, got out, thinking it was something in the engine or brakes. Didn't find anything. Finished my day, arrived home and notice a blackish brown area on drivers seat. Further inspection was that the seat had a burnt area. Thank goodness when I pulled into the parking lot earlier that I turned the Excursion off thus disengaging the heat seat. Otherwise I feel the Excursion would have caught on fire.

The passenger seat warmer started turning off and on at its own will. Eventually the set got so hot it started smoldering. Upon pulling the leather back we found the foam material to be burning away. Took an extinguisher to put fire out. Have removed fuse so future occurrences don't happen.
The heat in my driver seat stopped working. My husband took the seat cover off and noticed that it had caught fire and burned the wires and seat cushion. This could have been a big problem had the fire continued. My husband fixed the wiring after we were told nothing could be done because of the vehicles age.
