Several times I’ll be driving and the steering wheel will jerk in one direction and wobble violently I will grab it to correct it and basically fight to keep it in the lane so I have to pull over and try again. I checked all steering components had it looked at by a mechanic and cannot figure out what could be the issue. It is very dangerous and terrifying to drive since it happens out of nowhere at random.

Tl the contact owns a 2004 Ford Excursion. While driving, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact placed the gear into neutral, while in traffic, and restarted the vehicle. Afterwards, the vehicle was able to drive normally. The vehicle was taken to future Ford Lincoln (located at 650 automall dr, roseville, CA 95661, (888) 656-7577) where a wiggle test was performed because a failure code could not be found. The injection control pressure was replaced with a used part. The contact stated that the vehicle was worse after the replacement of the used part and the steering wheel became difficult to steer. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer who stated that a wire harness was needed to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 05v270000 (electrical system). The approximate failure mileage was 59,000.

The vehicle has a steering issue. It will pull to the right mostly but occasionally to the left. So you spend the entire drive correcting the wheel to try to keep the vehicle in the road. Towing is impossible with this issue because it causes the trailer to go in to a snaking motion because of the constant steering correction. This occurs when ever the car is in motion.

It's happened be for but never so scary. We were coming down one of the mountains on highway 299. We were, doing the speed limit of 55. And as we applied the brake it started pulling to the right. Like it was gonna go off the road. It also was vibrating so bad it felt like it was going to fall apart. We pulled over checked for loose bolts. Tire imperfections but nothing.

Car steers side to side and extremely difficult to keep within the lanes. You have to hold steering with 100 % concentration and constantly maneuver it to keep it straight. Also tend to veer to the left. Lot of steering play.
Steering sways its hard to drive it feels like steering isn't stable.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford Excursion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the engine stalled without warning and failed to restart. The steering wheel was turned and a loud pop was heard. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that a component of the steering box was fractured. The vehicle was scheduled for repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
While merging onto 75mph highway, without warning, vehicle lost all power making steering nearly impossible. We were able to move onto shoulder just at the point where highway and on ramp met. We could not restart vehicle and had we made it onto highway, could have very easily been rear ended by oncoming traffic. This is the second time we have lost complete power with this vehicle. We had same situation in July and had paid over two thousand dollars to have fuel system repaired. Ford had recall on this but our truck's VIN did not fall under recall. However, have concerns for others who have vehicles whose vins are not part of the recall. Another family may not be as fortunate as we were yesterday. Ford is aware of these issues and I hope Ford does not wait until lives are lost due to their faulty vehicles!.
Driving on level streets, highways, experienced intermittent ghost steering inputs resulting in vehicle manuevering severly left or right. Also, no auto-recovery from 90 degree cornering turn. Vehicle would continue in turn direction until severe steering wheel input by driver. At highway speeds, vehicle would intermittently pull left or right (non-dependant on driver input), until finally needing severe corrective steering wheel input to maintain lane. Corrective inputs of 1/4 turn or more needed 100% of time. Condition would also suddenly present itself at highway speeds, appearing suddenly, with no driver input. Driver needed an emergency corrective manuever to maintain lane and prevent crash. Finding - failed power steering box. Excessive play in control arm, metal shards inside steering box. Currative action - replaced steering box, flushed power steering system of metallic shards.
I was turning my Ford Excursion and heard a loud "pop!" my steering wheel appeared to "break" and the vehicle kept rolling forward. Had I been anywhere else, like traffic, I could have killed someone or myself.

: the contact stated the steering locked up when the brakes were applied, while driving 30 mph. When the pressure was released from the brake pedal, the ability to steer resumed. There were no warning signs prior to the failure. There was no accident or injury therefore no police report was filed.
I have a 2001 Ford Excursion. My complaint is that the steering stabilizer is located too low in the front of the vehicle. Most all of Ford's four-wheel drive vehicles, during those model years, have the same setup. If the vehicle comes into contact with a small( or medium) sized animal or anything lying in the road, the stabilizer can become bent and the vehicle cannot be steered.
We received a rental vehicle from hertz, it was a 2003 Ford Excursion. When the woman dropped it off she told my husband to be careful, it pulls to the right. Last week my husband was driving on a straight road about 40 mph, when it started pulling to the right, he applied the brakes and he tried to steer to the left but it pulled to the right even more and he ended up in a ditch, after he got out it went through a steel fence and ended in a cow pasture. Something caused it to swerve to the right and cause this accident. The body shop said there is too much damage to tell what could of caused it.
Consumers daughter had been having trouble with the way the vehicle tracks while in motion. The steering was checked but no problem was indicated.
While in motion, vehicles car shaft broke and insured lost control of vehicle and hit a tree then collided with another vehicle in a dealers parking lot, claim 13-7322-304.
