Two problems related to hatchback/liftgate support device have been reported for the 1997 Ford Expedition. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Had the hatchback closed. Shock on right hand side pushed through window & it exploded. Window was shattered.
Vehicle was parked; went to rear; opened hatch and air springs/cylinders holding hatch released & fell on driver's head; took to dealer & was informed cylinders were defective after 5 months. Dealer is replacing/repairing cylinders.
