Ten problems related to gasoline engine have been reported for the 1998 Ford Expedition. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
1998 Ford Expedition with 97,000 miles blew out the #4 spark plug during normal operation. This was the factory original spark plug.

The engine consistently cuts out when placing the transmission into reverse. Its been back twice, but no trouble found. It happens when in traffic and has nearly caused rear end collisions. No particular action causes this, just come to a stop and put it in reverse.
Dealer said it was normal to put in a quart of oil every thousand miles. Consumer does not agree, none of prior vehicles needed that much oil.
While driving the vehicle hesitates which may cause an accident. Been to dealer several times and put a recorder to help determine the problem. Dealer cannot determine problem. Please provide further information.
Engine continuously loses coolant and overheats, repair attempts, however probmem continues.
When starting the vehicle it would shut off and could not be restarted, the vehicle was taken to the dealer but the problem could not be found. Nlm.
When vehicle is parked down hill after starting and letting the vehicle warm up engine completely shutsdown, cause unknown. Please give any further details.
Parts of rubber kept coming off, engine kept loosing to much oil but claimed they could not find why. Has done this since I bought it now find the problem the intake is busted can not pay to fix it . Never get recall notices. No safety defect.
