Pe0 20; consumer was traveling 65mph on highway and heard a noise coming from underneath vehicle. She was able to pull over to shoulders/ got out of car, and looked at the tires. Noticed that front tire had a blowout. Firestone, wilderness at.
I experienced a tire blow out (left rear) wilderness at (p255/70r16) on a '99 Expedition going approximately 55 mph. The outside sidewall came apart, completely separating from the rest of the tire. There is an area on the tire that had cracks on the tread close to the main part of the tire. I took the car to my Ford dealer in grapevine first because they had just inspected the tires for me approximately 3 weeks ago. They recommended highly that I take the tire to firestone, that the only thing they could do for me was to sell me 5 new tires, costing more than $700 total. I then took the car to my firestone dealer where after I pointed out to my technician the damage, he tried to expain to me that a blow out is "normal" whenever there is damage to a tire and that the tire had been driven with low air pressure which is why the sidewall was torn up. I tried to explain that the tires have never been low on pressure, that I check them myself at a minimun of 1 time per week and never drive the vehicle until I have checked them, and Ford checks them approximately every 3,000 miles and rotates them according to specs. He was not interested. I asked if my other 3 tires were safe in his opinion and without doing more than a quick glance said "they are as safe as any tire". I asked him again and explained that I have a 5 year old and all I wanted was to ensure the vehicle was safe, he stated that "I would be more uncomfortable about driving a Ford than I would be about your tires". This is completely unacceptable to me and I feel that attitudes and reactions like this to an obviously realistic concern is criminal. I also asked them to return the damaged tire to me, which I had to remind them to do. I then took the car & tire to national tire and battery (whom I trust) and asked for their opinion on the tire. Traveling on highway left, rear tire blew. After tire was changed, full sized, brand new spare blew 300 miles later. (tiresize: p2657ur17)( dot number: tire size: p2657ur17 ).
Right front tire blew during freeway ramp exit. Vehicle hit a ramp curb. Checked out tires after vehicle stopped. Noticed right front tire had a split between sidewall and tread area. Replaced tire with spare. 1999, Ford, Expedition, p255/70r16 with 30,000 miles.
Tire blowout due to tread separation at 65mph on I-95 at rush hour traffic. I was informed by both Ford motor corp. And firestone that these tires were safe. I am thankful that I was driving the vehicle and not my wife with my three boys she would have most likely hit the brakes and roll the truck. I was extremely luckly I was able to steer the car into the median. They the situation made me very uneasy with the rush hour traffic passing at 65mph just feet from me. I experienced severe chest pain and was admitted to the hosiptal the following morning. (tiresize: p255/70r16)( dot number: tire size: p255/70r16 ).
Rear passenger tire blow out, resulting in damaged wheel. One person in the vehicle no one hurt. Vehicle did not roll over. Did not lose control of the vehicle. The time was 11:20 a. M. The temperature was 81 degrees. The tires had been checked two days earlier for inflation to 35 psi. The tires had been inspected by a firestone dealer 3 months earlier and showed no signs of tread separation. **dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis*734311.

Tire had complete failure (blowout) on interstate 95 at 70 mph at approximately 0700 on may 16th, 2000. Was able to keep control and return to outside emergency lane and replace with the spare. The spare also has four serious indentations in the sidewall and I do not consider safe to use. I went to a tire kingdom store the next day and purchased 4 new michelin tires and had the spare replaced under the vehicle. This was before a recall was announced and I did not keep the blown tire. L/f tire blew out (peeled off) between 65-70 mph, I was able to keep to maintain control and pull over safely to shoulder and change tire. ( dot number: tire size: 255/70r16 ).
Rear passenger tire blewout. . . Sounded like a gunshot then the vehicle immediately dropped onto the rim,ii coasted to a stop. Had the car towed to a firestone dealer, asked the technician what could cause this to occur on a tire with less than 3000 miles on it. He said he couldn't tell, but because of the location of the rupture he didn't think I ran over anything. He said I was "lucky to have firestone tires because the rupture was so close to the sidewall on a cheaper tire it would not have been able to be repaired. Right now I dont feel so lucky to own firestone tires. Should I replace all 4 tires with another brand? thank you. (dot number: w2cuird019 tiresize: p255-70r16).
Tread separated just as described in recall of smaller size tires. Tire blew out at highway speed. ( dot number: ).
After having the car for only three days, we were traveling 60 mph on a highway when the left rear tire disintegrated - no steering or control problems occurred and we were able to pull over and put on the spare. We returned home and took the car to the Ford dealer where we purchased the vehicle three days prior and they at first refused to cover the cost of replacing the tire. After much debate and reluctance on their part ("this never happens, you must have hit a nail") - we argued that there was no way the tire should have blown after only being drive on for less than 300 miles and that we did not hit anything we were aware of (their inspection of the tire also yielded no punctures that they could find). Ford finally agreed to pay for a new wilderness tire and it was replaced. We are reporting this so that you know this happened over one year ago on a virually brand new tire. We had two tires blow out at the same time going 25 mph. Have you had any more complaints about these tires?( dot number: w2t6 tire size: p265/70r17 ).
