While the vehicle was undergoing an oil change, the cruise control switch underneath the hood that was connected to the brake master cylinder caught on fire. The contact stated that the ignition was off at the time. The contact was able to extinguish the fire. A fire report was not filed. The contact, a certified mechanic, stated that there was brake fluid coming out of the cruise control switch. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 201,000.

The contact was able to put out the fire without contacting fire department. As the contact was putting out the fire under the hood they found that the master cylinder melted and was a possible source of the fire. The cruise control wasattached to the braking system, and the recall 05v017000 concerning ) vehicle speed control:cruise control could be a cause as well.
The vehicle was parked without warning the vehicle caught fire. No injuries to report. The fire department was called to extinguished out the fire. The vehicle was towed by the insurance company. Please provide further information.
While vehicle was parked a fire started in the master cylinder. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. Same as complaint #10105051.
