Takata recall. Ignition mechanism on steering column is locked. Can put key in, but absolutely cannot turn ignition mechanism. Steering wheel is locked and transmission locked in "park". 6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

On may first of 2014 my check engine light and oil light came on. I assumed I needed oil, so I went to the advanced auto store and purchased some oil. I put the oil in and began to proceed home. I was driving and the oil light was showing as hot. The car would not give enough power for me to drive, it began to shake. The car is not drivable anymore. It is still doing the same thing. After some research I discovered that this car's make and model is a recall car. I need to know what to do.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2014

Battery will not kept a charger have to take off cable when cutting the truck off. Lights not working in back ,no pick up speed.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

On June 3, 2013 my 2000 Ford Expedition that I had just purchased 7 days prior exploded in my driveway after being parked for 2hrs. The fire also caught our 2008 cobalt ablaze and caused significant damage to the property that both vehicles were parked at. As of right now there has not been a cause of the fire determined but I did find a recall notice on the Expedition that was issued in 2005 from Ford. Apparently this recall effected the speed control system that led to an electrical fire in the motor compartment causing these explosions. I was never told of this recall from the previous owner who is a Ford employee and he swears that he was never sent any recall letters from Ford in regards to this problem.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2013

I drove the about 3 miles, and parked the truck, then the vehicle caught on fire in front of the wal-mart. It had been parked for about 1 hour before we got notified that the truck was engulfed in flames and a explosion came from the engine compartment area. 911 was called and the fired dept came and put the fire out. The fire department was unable to determine the cause of the fire, but stated we need to contact the maufactor, and they gave me a case number as well (prince william county - "cas-2209047".

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2007

With no warning spare tire cable snapped while driving down road causing spare tire to fall out and strike rear wheel of vehicle, then flew off side of road. Discussion with Ford indicated this is unheard of and they wanted $300+ to repair. Discussions with multiple other shops (not Ford) indicate this does happen with this type of spare mount. Repairs completed for under $150. I am concerned that spare can come out and once loose hit other vehicles or property/persons.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2006

I purchased a 2000 Ford Expedition eddie bauer SUV new from a local dealer in the los angeles area. Current mileage is 127,300. This concerns a very serious safety problem that has happened twice since we have owned this vehicle. This vehicle is only used to commute to work, never off-road or abused in any manner. A few months into our ownership, we were traveling on the freeway and going over a overpass at 60 miles an hour the spare tire dropped off the SUV and rolled across four lanes of traffic at night. Luckily, it did not kill someone. Then about 8 or 9 months ago it happened again just backing out of our driveway. Inspecting the problem it is clear the steel cable hoist holding the tire up under the rear is breaking under stress. It is clear this is a design defect and a very real safety issue. We have taken it to the local dealership and I have called their 800 number. They claim the vehicle is outside the warranty period. I say this is a safety issue that Ford should not only fix but should redesign the whole mounting system to better support the tire. The tire and rim should have a positive locking device that securely holds the tire in place so the steel cable hoist is used only to raise and lower the tire when the vehicle is at rest. Ford will not put this in writing. I have filed complaints on this issue here in California with the dmv and other agencies - they are referring me to mediation boards to settle it financially. But the Ford fix of installing another steel cable hoist system is not safe. I am considering a third party mounting system to the outside of the vehicle because I do not want this to happen again. Presently, I am driving without the spare tire because we do not want another Ford fix and it would be unsafe carrying it inside the vehicle. You are my last chance of resolving this safety issue. My next step will be to pursue this complaint directly with the public media. That is how serious I am taking this problem.
