1 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2010

We bought this vehicle in February 2010 it ran perfectly until we got the first snow of the year and then we started having major electrical problems. It started out just the warning lights would blink, then the radio would shut off in drive but come back on in park. Then the wipers would no longer work or the headlights! so we parked it for about a month, the second day the radio and heater came on without the keys even being in the vehicle so we had to disconnect the battery! we let it sit with the battery disconnected for awhile then tried it again. The SUV ran great for about 8 weeks then it snowed again and it suddenly started trying to start itself and we do not have remote start!!! now it does it every time you shift, start it, or whenever it is parked it just starts cranking away!! I now have smoke coming from somewhere behind the fuse box! the fuses are all good and I can't see any problem with the wiring. . . I have talked to several people who have had these exact same issues with this model of Expedition and none of them have been able to figure out what the problem is even after spending thousands of dollars. . . And Ford is refusing to issue a recall. . . So what are we to do as consumers when we are assured the vehicles we buy are safe and they turn out to be the exact opposite!!!!.

Windshield leaks water on to gem module and fuse box. After rain or snow vehicle will try to start while already running wipers, radio, door locks, power windows, lights flashers will not work. Dummy lights on dash will come on that water level low, no oil pressure and low battery. Now it will not shift out of park. Filed a formal complaint three months ago with Ford motor compny and they have yet to acknowledge that I ever filed report.

3 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2006

I took my 2000 Ford Expedition XLT in to huntington beach Ford to be serviced due to r. P. M. Fluctuation and a service engine soon light. They conducted a diagnosis and stated I would need a I. A. C. Part. The new I. A. C. Did not fix the problem so I took it back to h. B. Ford and they stated I would need a d. P. F. E. Sensor. I had them replace that which did not fix the problem because the service engine light illuminated and the r. P. M. Fluctuation was still evident. I went back to h. B. Ford and they diagnosed a new throttle body. I gave them the o. K. To replace the throttle body. They called me a couple days later to inform me that that did not solve your problem so I will need to pay an extra $400 for a diagnostic fee so they can check all the wiring. The manager has stated they believe it is coming from the wiring system? why do I have to pay for everything else when they cannot pinpoint the problem?.

Last month, my 2000 Ford Expedition caught on fire in my driveway after sitting for about 3 hours. The engine compartment burst into flames and melted every plastic and rubber component inside, including the driver-side front tire. We owned a 2000 Ford Expedition, which we never experienced any problems with. The end of September (I can't remember the date right off hand) we arrived home from the playground and 10 minutes later our truck spontaneously caught fire. Majority of the damage was done to the driver's side. The fire department said it looked to be electrical. A neighbor who lives down the street informed us that there had been several Expeditions that recently caught fire. We then went to automotiveforums. Com and was surprised to find many other individuals that this also happened too. I sent an email to the board of directors of the Ford motor company just to let them know that there were many more people that had this happen to, and to this day never received a response. Our insurance company informed us that most claims like this usually never get reported to Ford. We had an investigative reporter from houston call us to get more information. Maybe you could warn others so that they don't have to experience the same thing that we have. I can also obtain an report from the fire department if that would be of assistance.

13 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2004

My 2000 Ford Expedition was parked in my mom's driveway while we went to the beach. We returned 4 hours later and the horn was blaring and smoke was pouring out from under the hood. The fire department disconnected the battery and I had it towed to the Ford dealer, who sold us the car. I refused to get back in the car with my kids, after I spent $700 to repair the burned out wiring, and ended up trading it in for a brand new Expedition. The recall notice came out in Jan -05, after my incident. My friend's f150 went on fire in the middle of the night with the horn blaring - which caused me to investigate the recall. Some other fires have involved horns blaring. I want my $700 back.
