Engine missing.
Crank no start, after replaced new fuel pump, filter and other parts would not start and not getting fuel. Was in motion and died after making a right turn after filling fuel tank.
Fuel pump driver module failed due to design flaw which caused galvanic corrosion. Aluminum body of component acts as the sacrificial anode for the frame which is steel. This caused my vehicle to stall at 65mph and lose power and thus caused the loss of power steering and hydraulic brake booster while traveling a high rate of speed. This could be especially dangerous on highways, congested areas, or areas with pedestrians such as schools. I have also notified Ford of this problem.
This car just numerous of problem. . . . . Who ever built this car did not have a good job of doing it.
Same as everyone else driving normally and truck completely shuts off 4 different times all differently I changed the fuel pump driver module had fuel tank dropped and changed fuel filter and pump I'm not going to lie I love my baby she's been good to me besides this I have 250,000 plus miles on her and counting and never faced probs till now I've recently this year (technically) rebuilt her motor and that's it . Also passanger over head lightstart have been acting funny some work some don't and ac in the 3rd row sometimes goes out or makes a clicking noise and heater don't work at all on the 2nd or 3rd row I am a single female with 3 young kids id love to keep my baby running so please help and I've had one other prob one time on high way I had a fender bender I repeatedly stopped over n over on breaks and never managed to stop until I slammed into other driver in fronthe of me me and my kids were terrified and never thank god happened again but yep so please for the love of people's safety recall fix and apologize for the wrong harmful doing like big boys and pay up or you'll either lose precious innocent lives of Ford customers or just lose customers in general have a heart fix yalls wrong and lets move on with this Ford built tuff heck of a beautiful SUV and lets live life safe ty sorry for the caps not yelling just needing to stand out is all texas is where I'm at yall be safe ;).
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that the air conditioning unit failed and emitted hot air from the vents when activated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic several times where the blender door actuator, compressor, and control panel were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The mechanic stated that the failure could not be remedied. The manufacturer stated that there were no recalls for the vehicle. The contact was also advised that the failure could have been attributed to the control head that was located behind the control panel. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 118,000.
I have a 2005 Ford Expedition and have maintained my vehicle maintenance and only have 124,000 miles on this vehicle. It continues to shut off the engine and code fail safe mode on code appear and when I'm driving on the highway it is dangerous. After reading so many complaints this is unsafe. Also, the computer issues with locking doors, failure of the transmission (which I had to replace) such a disappointment of a vehicle. Ford should recall engine and computer issues. I purchased this vehicle brand new $50,000 + and have not be able to depend on the stability since I've had it.
My 15 year old son and my life were placed in serious danger, by the gross negligence and deceptive business practices promoted by the Ford motor company, regarding scan code p2106. Since as early as February 26, 2013 Ford motor company was made aware of a dangerous defect concerning the mechanical and electrical components of their manufactured product released to the consumer public for profit. The vehicles are Ford trucks, manufactured from 2003 - 2008, with the v8 5. 4 l engine. Public record reveals case no. 12-7222, jason schmidt, (plaintiff) vs. Ford motor company, (defendant) filed in the united states district court for the eastern district of pennsylvania, that Ford motor company is well aware of this issue. I believe that Ford motor company has made no attempts to inform Ford dealership owners, the Ford dealership managers or Ford service repair shop managers at the Ford dealerships and consumers who had already purchased their manufactured product of the issue. This issue is very dangerous, I was traveling 70 mph, with my son in the truck. Ford motor company has gone on record, via telephone conversation, explaining to me that; "Ford motor company has no control over how individual dealerships function or operate their establishment places of business, sorry. But I can take a complaint and be sure that the dealership receives it and provide you with a complaint number". Flammer Ford, spring hill, FL replaced a part and neglected to test drive the truck, released the vehicle to me and the part replaced was not what was wrong with the truck. I had my truck towed to autonation Ford in brooksville, FL for the same issue (p2106 code), they did the same thing, without replacing a thing. Only this time, while driving on a highway, my truck and the lost all power. My truck is back at autonation Ford in need of a new transmission.
For the 3rd time in the past year I am driving down the road at about 40 mph - engine lights comes on, message "check electronic throttle control" comes on - I have no power, I coast to the side lane turn on hazard lights, turn key to off position. . Read more...
While moving in traffic the vehicle engine cut-off on its own. Message came up on dash display, something about "elect throttle control". Was moving very slowly on an interstate highway bad traffic, with heaters (front and back) and the radio on. I was able to coast off to the side of the highway. Turned off radio, heaters, then was able to restart the vehicle. Battery condition was fine (replaced 2 years ago), no other warning. Vehicle is well-maintained, never driven hard or used for towing. Today I am taking it to a Ford dealer for evaluation.

I was driving my 2005 Ford Expedition at 25mph and came to a stop light. I stopped. I tried to accelerate but I couldn't. My rpm where moving but car would not. Then the check electric throttle control message popped on. Car finally started to accelerate but died out. It then restarted and drove normally for 4 blocks, before not accelerating at all. Had to be towed to Ford dealer. This needs to be recalled.
While driving home down a slight decline, I heard a beep and the message on the dash read (check electronic throttle control) which I then mentally added to my list of things to do. Not until a needed to start accelerating again did I realize that my throttle was completely inoperable. Luckily, a word used frequently by other owners to describe this same issue, I was able to coast to a stop while other vehicles went around me. Turning off the vehicle and restarting it seemed to "reset" the throttle control. I do not trust that it will be safe to use, particularly with the winter driving conditions that I encounter. I have an appointment scheduled for Monday. With all the complaints I have seen regarding this same issue, I am shocked that more action (recall) has not been taken. Does a crash, fire, injury, or fatality need to occur before this can be taken seriously? I am baffled that a warning message cannot be displayed in advance of complete throttle failure considering the potential catastrophic outcomes. This vehicle was inspected/serviced November 2013.
While driving 55mph on interstate 95 in philadelphia, PA with my wife and 2 children the vehicle stopped running and I was dangerously stalled in the middle of interstate 95. The check engine light came on and check electronic throttle message came on. This is a family vehicle and my wife and I refuse to drive it now in fear of this incident occurring again resulting in death or serious injury. Based upon my research, it appears to be a well known problem that occurred to thousands of Ford Expedition owners. I would appreciate the problem being addressed expeditiously before people are killed and/or injured.
Driving on highway at about 60 mph changing lanes and a odb message appears "check electronic throttle control" and the car just shuts down. It was a life threatening moment for my family and I as a truck that was on coming from behind with speed had to slam on the brakes in order not to collide with me since I had no power to accelerate. I was only fortunate that the truck had a clear lane to change into abruptly. The electronic throttle message after further research is a wide spread know issue among Ford cars and I am livid and very angry that the NHTSA has not issued a recall on this know issue as it is public knowledge online. This needs to be addressed immediately to avoid any potential future tragedies. I hope Ford does not want blood on there hands!.
I was driving with 4 kids in the car, when all the sudden my car turned off, all the lights came on the dash. Luckily I was able to move over to a parking lot. I turned the car off, turned back on, nothing. Tried again and it worked. I was able to drive 50 miles home and as I was turning in my driveway it happened again.
Rear driver side passenger window went down by itself and there is no way to send it up. Is stuck open. I am reporting because I found more than 20 forums online with hundreds of reported complaints on the same issue and I don't see the necessary recall on this item.
While driving along at 55 mph engine shut down. No power brakes, steering, etc. Indicator message on dashboard said "check electronic ignition". Repair cost $ 724. 19.
While driving at 40 mph engine stopped working making brakes and steering fail. Limped off busy road luckily! engine light showed electronic throttle failure. Now check engine light is on. Going to dealers for repair today-since this is an obvious problem for Ford why haven't they addressed it! could be deadly if fails in heavy traffic conditions.
My 2005 Expedition was traveling at a speed of 40mph when it stopped accelerating and died in traffic while I was taking my kids to school. I couldn't turn the stirring wheel to get off of the road. This is a very dangerous problem and it has happened to me about three or four times. Once it happened when I was pulling out into traffic on a hill thank god no one else was coming.
The spark plug broke in the engine costing a lot of money to repair. Now another one is stuck and I cant afford to get it fixed. This could possibly cause fire and create a safety hazard. There are numerous complaints out there and this really needs to be a recall situation.
Warning light said electronic throttle control, this is the third time I have almost had a major accident and Ford tells me to call them when I have an accident or the code shows back up. They admit that they are aware of this issue but it must fail completely before it can be replaced under warranty or recall. Also the truck cuts out at 60mph and jerks until you speed up. They advised they are also aware of this problem and come back when it breaks down.
I was driving on four lane highway in right lane at 40mph. I noticed the car starting to slow down and when I pressed the gas pedal it did not react and the car continued to slow down. I looked at my gauges on the dash and there were no warning lights and all gauges read normally. I thought I could smell smoke, and the car continued to slow down, and I knew I needed to get off the road as traffic was heavy. As I pulled off the road into the parking lot for the strip mall, the car stalled, lights came on the dash to indicate the car stalled and I was able to stop the car, put it in park and turn the car off. I could smell smoke and I could see smoke going out the car windows from inside the car as I had the windows open a couple of inches. There was no smoke coming from under the hood. I debated whether to call aaa or 911. As the smoke increased I called 911. I then went to the car to get my purse. When I opened the passenger front door the car was filled with smoke and I thought I could see fire in the middle row of seat on the floor. I opened the back door on the passenger side and saw flames shooting up from the floor 6 inches high in the center of the floor. I tried to put out the fire with a snow scraper with the brush end, but I was not successful. I asked the dry cleaning lady if she had a fire extinguisher. It took 30 seconds to get the extinguisher and on my way back to the car, I could see flames under the car and when I opened the back passenger door the fire had spread to the back seat. I was fearful for how fast the fire spread and the smoke prevented me from reaching the fire with the extinguisher. The fire department then arrived and it took them 15-20 minutes to put out the fire as the flames were shooting at least 20 feet into the air. The car was completely engulfed in flames. I have pictures I took with my phone.
I was driving the vehicle and it immediately lost acceleration. An alarm on dash identified the problems as electronic throttle control failure. This was very dangerous and I was lucky no one was following me close. My wife is now scared to drive the vehicle and I don't know what to do. There are many complaints on the web about this issue which I would have thought a recall would be initiated by Ford. I searched and found out that there was no recall on this issue. I called Ford motor company and they informed me that I was the first one to complain about this issue. I find that very hard to believe with everything I have read on the website. Anyone one who reads this that has had the problem should call Ford motor company and complain. Just go to Ford. Com and click on support to get the phone number.
Traveling along congested city street during morning rush and vehecial looses all power. Instament cluster lights are all on. Message say "check electronic trottle" I was able to ture the vehical off and back on twice before the error cleared. I have an appointment at the dealership in the morning. But these other reports don't give me much hope. And I just paid off the note last week.
Vehicle has been stalling for almost a year. Vehicle shut off on busy highway and towed to nearby repair shop. Mechanic found fuel pump control module completely corroded from behind and circuit board exposed to moisture. The fpcm fried and shorted out one leg of the fuel pump. Both pieces had to be replaced. New fpcm installed was obviously redesigned so module would not suffer this flaw again. I am finding an alarming amount of complaints on the internet of Ford Expedition owner experiencing the exact same problems under more dangerous conditions.
We wife has a 2005 Ford expediton, it is used mainly for her to haul our kids to practice and school back and forth. The truck is constantly dying while driving it. The display shows check electronic throttle control". This morning she was taking the kids to school when it died while going through an intersection. I have talked to several different dealers who say they never heard of this problem, but can check it out for $$$$$$ yet I can search the internet and find the same problem happening to these Expeditions. My questions is why isn't Ford being responisble and getting these recalled and repaired before someone is killed in these vehicles. Can you imagine driving with your loved ones and loosing full control of your vehicle at anytime. We have expericed the shutdown at all speeds. It is getting worse. Where is the recall Ford?? before someone is killed. . . . . . . . . Update changed out the tps quess what didn't fix it still doing it. . What now Ford??.
Vehicle died unexpectedly while traveling down highway at a high rate of speed. There are hundreds of complaints just like this on here. If a recall isn't in order people will die and the lawsuits will begin. It's obviously a major mechanical problem. Ford and the NHTSA should be liable. This is serious and reading through all of these complaints it doesn't seem like the NHTSA is doing their job.
Driving at 45 mph vehicle just turns off and has no power. Hard to steer and brake. Dash says "check electronic throttle control". After pulling over vehicle willl restart. This has happened three times now and dealer says there is nothing wrong.
I was driving up the highway with my two kids in my car. I was traveling about 40 mph. All of a sudden I hear the beep on my system and it stated that I needed to " check electronic throttle control". I laid off the gas and went thru a light when I attempted to hit the gas again I realized I had no power at all and I was coasting. I got in the turning lane and had to pull in front of a car just so I would not be stuck in the middle of the road where my kids and I would have been in an accident. I waited about 10 minutes and the vehicle fired up. I was in tears trying to make it to my office because I felt like it might happen again. The whole mile it took for me to get there the truck felt like it was going to shut off again. It felt like the truck did not have gas and was riding on fumes. It was shaking and moving slowing. I will not drive it like this and will probably trade it in now. I cannot drive a vehicle that I do not feel is reliable for me and my kids. This is the first time that this has happened and the truck has 83k miles on it. I also had problems with the catalytic converter at 46k miles. My mechanic said that the throttle body could have failed as a result of the catalytic converter not working properly. I might try to fix the problem depending on costs associated with it or might get another vehicle.
I was traveling w/b on I-96 near the okemos exit when my 2005 Ford Expedition's engine suddenly shut off. A warning stating, "check electronic throttle control" came on. I exited the express way. The engine still ran in idle, but would not run any faster than that. I pulled into a parking lot and shut off the engine. I restarted the vehicle and it began running normally again. Approximately five minutes later, while I was exiting a parking lot, the same thing happened again. This time the engine would not run at all and the power steering stopped working. I restarted the vehicle again and it ran fine. However, the check engine light is now illuminated. I have researched online and have observed that this is a problem for many people. There are forums of complaints about this exact same problem found on countless websites. Furthermore, this is a very dangerous problem. If I would have been traveling through an intersection when this occurred I could have been hit. This Expedition has had many electrical problems including: turn signal failure, fuel pump module failure, lights and signals randomly not working, wipers randomly not working, etc. I have spent a lot of money repairing these issues. I am fed up with them and I am contacting you today because the electrical issues in this car are finally becoming unsafe. I have also contacted Ford and am waiting for a response. My vehicle only has approximately 92,000 miles on it and is still under an extended powertrain warranty.
Cars shuts off while driving! I have experience this four times at various speeds. The car shuts off and the check electronic throttle control light comes on. Twice have been on the freeway at 65 miles per hour without warning. Both times I was able to start engine by putting it in neutral while driving. Although I would not recommend performing this technique as you may accidentally put the car into reverse and at that speed it could be risky. However, I had no choice because of the lane I was in. As most have mentioned, this is serious problem especially when driving with family in vehicle. My wife will not drive the car because she's afraid. . . I don't blame her. Ford sells itself as a family oriented company so lets protect our families and fix the problem. These complaints date as far back as 2005. Are they waiting until some of their customers start getting in serious accidents? this is a life threatening problem and needs to be addressed! if they do not want to perform a recall then they should at least tell us how to fix it since their dealers are not.
Stopped at a traffic light intersection to make a right turn. While I was making the right turn about 5 mph, the 2005 Ford Expedition stalled and all the lights went on. I waited for about 10 seconds to turn on the car. The car started. I stopped 5 minutes later to stop the engine to see if everything was ok. It took two tries to start the engine. I took it to a Ford dealer the next day to get it inspected. They claim it was the "throttle position sensor". I got that replaced for ~$340. 00.
2005 Ford Expedition. While driving on the hwy the "check electronic throttle control" light came on and shut down my car. . I had no accelerator pedal control. This occurs on average once a month. When this happens ,you have no power. You have to coast to the side of the road and call for help.
I was driving 55mph on highway, when all of a sudden there was no power to gas pedal. The check electronic throttle control light flashed, I pulled over three lanes to side of road. I sat there trying to start vehicle continuously, finally after 10 minutes it started.
