1 Noises During Shifting problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2017

When slowing down and shifting from second to first the transmission makes a loud stuttering noise every time. This is not a normal noise a transmission should make. This is a safety concern that Ford needs to fix in new and older models. This is a very common issue people are reporting on the internet with Fords around this year. Many have had this begin to occur around only 25k miles.

2 Noises During Shifting problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2012

We were driving on 95 when we heard a thud-type noise. We thought we had a flat tire, but then the vehicle would no longer accelerate. We were able to get off at the exit that was immediately upon us and safely pull off on the side of the road. We did not have any flat tires. The vehicle would still turn on and run (so we knew it wasn't the alternator), but it wouldn't accelerate. The Ford dealership informed us it was the mextronics electronic portion of the shift mechanism and valve body in the transmission. They said that this type of problem could not have been prevented and it does not happen often.
