1 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2025

My 2015 Ford Expedition needs to added to the recall 22s56. I just paid $1,200 to have that part fixed cause it burnt up. Replaced the front blower motor assembly. My husband burnt his hand on the wire exposed under the dash then the mechanic said the blower motor has burnt up the components around it. The fan, motor, control, and wire assembly all was burnt up. Ford needs to be made to include my vehicle in their recall as that vehicle year, model, plant made in and date made all match.

Driving 45mph the stuttered quickly and the wrench symbol appeared on the dashboard. I had to put the car in neutral and tranisted to the shoulder of the road, stopped and turned the vehicle off. During cold starts the engine has a loud rattling sound. The sound goes away after about a minute.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2023

The mechanic assessing my vehicle stated that the vehicle has a coolant leak which cause the vehicle to run hot and ruin the head gaskets and requiring a new engine to repair at a significantly high cost. I explained to him that a check engine light only came on a day before and he stated that he has seen this a common problem in Ford truck (f150 and Expedition engines) with the 3. 5 l turbo. The coolant sensor doesn’t pick up the leak because the coolant evaporates before the sensor can detect and only has cooler air passing over it thus not notifying the driver of the vehicle. I have maintained this vehicle properly since purchased in 2018. The risk was the engine could’ve overheated potentially causing fire or harm at high speeds.

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2021

While driving through a busy intersection, the vehicle seemed as if it had shifted into neutral rendering the accelerator powerless. I was able to coast into a parking lot and noticed the wrench warning light being on. The engine was also shaking very noticeably. I turned off the engine and read up on the warning light to learn it indicated a powertrain failure. Called a mechanic who stated it could be the throttle body and/or throttle body actuator. It was suggested the engine should be turned off (already done) and restarted. I did as instructed and the engine began running smoothly again. Wrench warning light was no longer on. Without having control of the powertrain, this situation could have caused an accident as I had no ability to control the vehicle's power and could not navigate through the intersection in a safe manner. I feel like my safety and others was put at risk. I have taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who is also an auto mechanic instructor at the local high school. I await his diagnostic result. There were no earlier symptoms or wrench warning light previous to this incident.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2021

While passing slower traffic on I 80 experienced sudden loss of power and no throttle response. Was travelling at speed limit (80) with cruise control engaged. Luckily I was able to drive into the median to avoid a sudden slow down in the left lane line of traffic. Later diagnosed to be throttle body failure. If this would have happened in an area or situation where I could not have immediately left the road it could have resulted in a rear end collision at highway speed.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2020

My car was left in park with the engine running and ac on for 30 min due to having groceries in the car. My car caught fire and completely burned up. There was nothing flammable in my car other than the 1/4 tank of gas I had left. Fire chief said the fire appeared to start in the engine. The vehicle was parked in a driveway.

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2019

I was driving at approximately 50 mph, in a steady-state in mild traffic, when the wrench icon in the left-side of the dashboard lit up momentarily and the vehicle lost all power. The engine was still running but was unresponsive. I had to coast to a stop, turn it off then re-start the vehicle. It did so again upon driving it on Monday Aug 19. Ford was contacted and denied the issue, even though this exactly mimics the reason for the recall on 2015 Ford flexes/Lincoln mkts, etc. With the same powertrain!.

Tl- the contact owns a 2015 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that upon parking the vehicle in a parking area, the vehicle was exited and a fire started under the hood near the engine compartment which had gone all the way to the front windshield. A passerby had alerted the contact when he had left the location of the vehicle, had been notified within a store location and upon coming back to the area observed the extensive fire which catastrophically destroyed the vehicle. The fire department extinguished the flames but had not determine what had caused the fire per their inspection. The police department towed the vehicle to a yard and then the insurance company towed the vehicle to a facility to further inspect and diagnose the cause of the fire. Landers Ford, 19501 I-30, benton, ar 72015, 1-(501) 315-4700 was notified of the catastrophic fire but had not extended any assistance to escalate the matter to the manufacturer which was unacceptable to the contact. The contact was waiting for a response from the manufacturer. The VIN was not available. The vehicle was destroyed. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000. Dyd.

14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2018

While driving at highway speeds, the orange wrench light came on with a message to see owner's manual. Vehicle went into "limp mode" and I was unable to accelerate could only coast. I was able to maneuver to the shoulder while coasting. Once on the shoulder, stopped and vehicle idled rough so shut it off. I then restarted and the issue went away and I was able to drive. I called the dealership and was told it could have been a fluke with the computer and to bring it in if it happens again. It happened again the next day so we took to the dealership. Dealership diagnosed the problem as a failed electronic throttle body under code p2112 which is similar to the issue Ford has had for several years. I was informed by the dealership and Ford customer service that Ford did not include the Expedition in the recall for this issue. It appears their recall did not cover all vehicles impacted by this issue.

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2017

Driving on a city street about to get onto a highway car started to stumble then died out. We got it started back up but no throttle. Had it towed back home. I hooked up an obd2 code reader and the codes were p2112 and p2111 electronic throttle body. I found some info online like a recalibration test ( key on, press pedal down slowly then release slowly, then turn key off). Started back up like there was no problem. This car has 38,000 miles this seams like a safety issue, if we were to turn in front of someone and it died out we could of got hit!!! I will be taking it in to the dealership to be fixed, car is still under warranty.

18 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2017

While driving my 2015 Ford Expedition home from work, my vehicle suddenly lost all gas power to the vehicle. My steering still worked and power was still on but I had no gas. I pulled over, turned my engine off and restarted and could go again. It took 6 times to restart to get 2 miles to safe point. Where I then had my vehicle towed to the nearest Ford dealership. I thought it was the fuel pump. Turns out it was the electronic throttle body. Which is a known issue for the Ford engine, the NHTSA had enough complaints that Ford issued a mandatory extended warranty for 4 other type Ford vehicles but not the Expedition, which has the same type of engine. I had to pay $560. 00 to have this part replaced on my vehicle when it's a known Ford issue. My vehicle had 50,700 miles on it at the time of the occurrence. I hope that the NHTSA will look into this issue and have Ford expand their make and model warranty as well as reimburse me for my expenses for this replacement.

19 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

21 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2017

1/28/17 driving 65 mph on a florida highway (not on cruise control) the throttle/gas peddle sensor (throttle body) shuts off the gas to the engine and the car slows to a stop. This is in the middle of traffic. We manage to pull to the side of the highway, turn the car off and on and the problem disappears for another 50 miles we drive the car to a Ford dealer and they replace the throttle body for $500. I am . Out of warranty = over 36,000 miles I tell my story to 2 st louis friends, also own Fords (2006 explorer, 2008 edge) and they say that they have had the same experience and necessary repair. I just notified Ford customer service 800-392-3673 and they say that they do not have a recall or issue with this problem. This is a very dangerous situation and has been ignored by Ford for years. I also owned a Toyota during their sudden acceleration problem a few years ago and this seems worse.

23 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2015

01 June 2015 driving on interstate 10 from beaumont texas I entered a heavy rain storm, traffic slowed down to about 50 m. P. H. In a 70 m. P. H. Speed zone. I passed a tractor trailer, when the mist from the truck and the rain hit my vehicle, my engine lost power. I removed my foot from the gas, after a few hundred yards the power came back but my engine light was on. The problem happened 4 or 5 times thru louisiana and into florida. I took the vehicle back to the dealer palm bay Ford with 3,000 mile since new they couldn't duplicate the problem so I was told there wasn't a problem. 17 sept. 2015 with 12826 miles I returned to palm bay Ford again, after returning from west virgina in another heavy rain storm the same thing happened, the engine lost power I was told the same thing they couldn't find a problem so no problem exist. This is a safety concern and needs to be addressed.
