1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2021

Wife driving 2016 Ford exped with 61000 miles. Was driving on a remote road when the vehicle suddenly lost power and power train fault indicator came on. No cell service and no other traffic so no way to get help. Finally managed to restart which cleared the problem for now. Took the car to a Ford dealer immediately but code reader could find no fault. Dealer, however, said it is a throttle body malfunction and is not uncommon and will happen again. Now concerned about problem occurring on a freeway or other congested roadway. The sudden loss of power and resulting necessity to get off a busy roadway/highway creates a real safety issue.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2021

I was accelerating, turning left to enter a freeway on ramp. My speed was reduced to 1mph and I was unable to accelerate or control the car. When I pushed on the accelerator nothing happened it did not rev the engine. A pop up appeared with a wrench and the words "see owners manual" I was able to turn off the car and turn it back on. This allowed me to regain function. This happened with no warning at all. There is no check engine light or engine codes. This is extremely dangerous! I was in the middle of an intersection where cars were both entering and exiting the freeway. Fortunately I avoided an accident had this happened after I got on the freeway I might not have been so lucky! upon returning home I checked the owners manual and there is nothing about a wrench light in there.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2021

I was driving on a small highway (2 times) and a neighborhood street (1 time) going 25 mph (45 mph on the highway) or more when all of the sudden I was unable to accelerate. My car seemed to shift into a different drive with the way it felt and some shaking. I would push the pedal to the floor and nothing would happen. I had to coast into a parking lot twice off of a busy road with my children in the car. When the car was turned off and then back on it was as if nothing ever happened and ran fine so that I could drive home. I had a mechanic do a diagnostic and no codes for this incident where stored or present. The third time it happened I did not shut the car off until someone could come and run a diagnostic which read the code p2112, throttle actuator, control system stuck? replaced the throttle body. This last time it happened, I had to cross two lanes of busy morning work traffic in order to get to a parking lot.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2020

Driving at speeds of 45-55 the SUV losses power sputters and crawls at a speed of 5 miles see owner manuel with wrench pops up very dangerous while driving with children in the vehicle. . . . Shop says they cant find anything had the SUV for 1 year bought used but this has happened 5 times.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2020

P2112 error keeps coming up causing sudden lose of power in the vehicle. This has happened while driving on the freeway, causing a panic moment to get to the shoulder, and on city and rural roads. We have to pull over shut the vehicle down and then restart it so that we can continue driving.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2020

Sudden unexpected deceleration to 1-3 mph and unresponsive while traveling about 40 mph. Error message "see manual". Corrected by turning off ignition and re-starting. Repeat problem - repair facility replaced all spark plugs and didn't happen for a week. They stated multiple issues came up on their analysis which were variable. Initially thought to be throttle issue. I question a computer software or hardware issue.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. While driving 50 mph, the wrench icon illuminated and the vehicle began to stall. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and was able to restart it after the failure. The contact took the vehicle to gator Ford (11780 tampa gateway blvd, seffner, FL 33584) where it was diagnosed with a defective throttle body. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 49,200. The VIN was unknown.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2018

While in motion on the street and car lose throttle. Pressing the gas pedal did not thing and only made the care stutter. It wouldn't got pass 30miles per hour but also wouldn't stay at 30 either it will go down and up choking on its self. This has happened many times and at any speed. The only way to fix it is to turn the car off and turn it on again. This fix is temporarily and you never know when it will happen again. This is dangerous and it almost cause me to have an accident.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2018

Driving on major freeway in houston rush hour. Lost power, wrench popped up and said see manual. Engine light came on. Had to wait in traffic and restart vehicle. Could not go over 40 mph without losing power again. Apparently every other 2016 Ford has been recalled for a throttle body defect except the Expedition. Our issue was a defective throttle body.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2018

When trying accelerate the vehicle does nothing after repeated attempts to push on the gas pedal. This has caused near misses in traffic from getting rear ended as the vehicle stalls and then resumes driving. I have taken to the vehicle to the dealer and they found nothing as the problem did not duplicate in their possession. This continues to occur without any codes populating. I have held up traffic while trying to move over because vehicle would not accelerate. This happens at all speeds.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2018

After several weeks of an intermittent acceleration problem, the vehicle stalled while driving up a hill. The engine did not shut off but nothing happened when pressing on the gas pedal. I was on a side street just about to get on the highway so I was able to pull over on the shoulder at that time. After restarting the truck I was able to drive it home but then had it towed to the dealer for service. The dealer found that the throttle body was defective and not covered under the powertrain warranty. After some research, I found that other Ford models had the same failure with the same part on the same engine but the Expedition was not specifically included in the NHTSA recall.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2017

Throttle body failure. Has happened over 8 times while driving on busy highways. Vehicle looses throttle control while driving. It forces you to pull over and turn off the vehicle and restart it to reset it. Very dangerous.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2017

While driving on a city street I lost power and control to the engine. Control of the engine is lost when without warning acceleration is lost. The car will slow until about 5 miles an hour speed. The rpms will fluctuate up and down and stepping on the accelerator does nothing. No warning is given, and I almost got into an accident. The diagnostic was completed at a Ford dealership and it turn out to be the throttle body. This seems to be a known issues with Ford cars. This is very dangerous as it can happen at any time. Losing control of acceleration can be deadly depending on the circumstances. Once the vehicle is turned off and started up again the problem goes away until it happens again, once you have it, the problem will be there until it is repaired and hope that the issues never returns.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2016

On 11-30-2016 with clear weather at about 3 pm traveling at traffic speed of 70 mph on i610 south loop east harris county TX (city of houston) in the 3rd lane right from the right side shoulder of 4 lanes, a "wrench" icon come on the display and said to contact the dealer. Immediately at the same time the Expedition lost all accelerator power. The pedal went limp. A hazardous, perilous drift across the oncoming 2 right lanes to the shoulder was terrifying . By the grace of god we made it to the shoulder without being hit and/or causing a multi car wreck and probable fatalities. The car motor continued running, but there was no acceleration, no power to move the car. The car was towed to the Ford dealer where the throttle body identified as the failure and was replaced. The original part throttle body replaced was part # bl3z*9e9268a. The new throttle body is part # bl3z*9e926*b. I have had this Ford Expedition for 11 months. I learned many throttle body parts on Ford explorers have been replaced by searching the internet for information. There was no listings of 2016 Expeditions having this life threating failure. I do hope and pray that no one is hurt or killed before this situation is corrected.
