Failure Date: 03/24/2025

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that upon start the vehicle, the vehicle hesitated while starting and while idling, and there was an abnormal clanking sound was coming from the engine. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was advised that the camshaft system was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced technical service bulletin: 23-2143; as a probable cause for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.

2 Engine Crank/camshaft Position Sensor problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2022

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the engine started rattling. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the cam phaser adjuster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to call the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 103,000.
