1 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2017 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 12/20/2025

We were driving on the highway and suddenly lost all power. Vehicle downshifted so hard I thought someone had hit us. Then it was back to normal, driving fine. But now we had no speedometer and the check engine and wrench light were on. My wife said she had felt something like that before but it was minor and at a lower speed. It had never resulted in a check engine light or loss of speedometer. I told her to exit the highway. She was shaking like crazy because she thought we just got rear ended. I can see how this could cause someone to completely wreck it was so harsh. We towed it home and when we started it up at home all those error lights were off. So I drove it around the block and it drive fine. I had my friend come take a look. He scanned it and it had a p0720 code. He said his f150 had the same issue and the same code as well a few years back and it was covered. It turns out we have the same transmission in our Expedition that he has in his f150. I havent had a chance to call the dealer yet but the paper I read in the recall and extended waranty coverage states only going up to a 2013 vehicle. They say it was a leadframe issue causing this. My Expedition has the same leadframe, and the same issue. This is very much a saftey concern since it changes harshness of downshifting out of no where. It could be even worse next time locking the wheels up or blowing the engine. Knowing its the same transmission and the same leadframe, why isnt my year model under that recall. I was reading in the forums and there are hundreds of similar questions coming from people with Expeditions and f150s that are near to my year and not covered. Can you please let me know if there is something im missing. Thank you.

3 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2025 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 07/31/2025

When using the turn signal, the blind-spot camera view is blocked by an on-screen steering wheel control popup, which cannot be minimized and only disappears after an extended amount of time. This popup automatically appears after a door has been opened as well as if/when the control button on the steering wheel is engaged intentionally and/or unintentionally. This obstructs my view of the blind-spot camera at a critical time when I am attempting a lane change, creating a potential safety risk. I have checked vehicle settings and consulted the dealer, but there is no current remedy or setting to disable the popup; this was communicated from the dealer to be "standard" and "not defective". I am unaware of any acknowledgement from Ford that this issue is a known defect in this model’s infotainment interface.

4 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2024 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 07/25/2025

Passenger sideview mirror does not open upon unlocking and starting the vehicle. I need to stop (if started driving) turn to park, turn off car, open driver's door to signal car that I have left, lock car using remote, wait few seconds and then unlock to reset car then it usually opens. Issues with mirror began happening a month after purchasing brand new car (5/24), first mirror was "popping or clicking" upon turning outright, mirror had been replaced once, over last year issue has been on going and brought to dealershop " deemed a technological glitch" - no warning lights or messages appear - sometimes my control panel screen will turn black upon starting the car which I now know means to look at my passenger mirror. This last occurred on Friday 7/25/25.

5 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2024 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 07/24/2025

I have had my car at the dealership twice, once in August of 2025 and once in February of 2026 because when I start I get a warning, front collision assist malfunction, lane keep assist malfunction, blind spot monitoring malfunction, and as a result, I have no cruise control, even in normal cruise control mode. I have been told it’s an electrical update, and it was October, then January, now it’s March. Just saw a recall was issued for navigator, nautilus, aviator, and explorer with this exact problem, but no recall for the Expedition.

7 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2024 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 06/03/2025

Since I purchased the vehicle brand new, none of the safety features have been functional. The following sensors are faulty and none of them have worked since I bought the vehicle: 1) cross traffic alert; 2) blindspot system fault; 3) pre-collision assist; 4) front camera fault; 5) parking sensor fault; 6) lane keeping assistance. I tried to take the vehicle into the service department of the dealership to fix the problem several times, but as of this time, there has been no solution. The dealership said the problem cannot be fixed, because only Ford corporation can create a computer software fix for the problem. I was instructed by the dealership not to bring the vehicle back for the same issues, because nothing can be done, and they will not touch it. However, Ford has failed to launch a computer software fix, since I had had the vehicle to 2 years. Since the dealership can't fix it and Ford can't fix it, I am stuck with a defective vehicle that is "unsafe" to drive, because all of these safety features that are not functional help prevent and reduce the probability of motor vehicle accidents. Ford is refusing to help me and rejected my claim even though they can't fix it.

8 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2024 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 06/03/2025

I bought this vehicle brand new in 2024 and none of the safety features are functional and can't be fixed. Ford corporation cannot find a a computer software fix for it and the dealership can't fix it. The vehicle in unsafe to drive. The following sensors are faulty and have continued to give failure alerts since I purchased the vehicle: 1) cross traffic alert; 2) blind spot system fault; 3) pre-collision assist; 4) front camera fault; 5) parking sensor fault; 6) lane keeping assistance, 7) rear backup assistance. It is a safety hazard and unsafe to drive because none of the "safety warning" or "driver assistance" features work, that would help prevent accidents. For the past 2 years, I have been driving this defective vehicle that is a safety hazard, which is not repairable, nor is the vehicle marketable. I have tried to resolve this issue numerous times, but there is no solution. The dealership advised me to not bring it in for service again, because there is nothing that can be done. I tried to file a claim with Ford corporate and requested they buy the vehicle back, because it meets the criteria and the elements under the texas lemon law, regarding electrical and safety concerns. However, my claim was rejected. As of right now, there is no solution for this issue.

9 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2024 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 03/17/2025

I purchased this 2024 Ford Expedition brand new from a Ford certified dealer (conklin cars, newton , kansas). Upon driving off the lot for the first time to a gas station across the street from the dealer, at restart all the sensor gave warnings. Sensors that gave warning include: blind spots sensors, back-up sensors, froward impact, lane departure, automatic braking, rear cross traffic, and the cruise display. I took it back to the dealership and the reset the system and upon starting the vehicle after parked, all the sensors stopped working again. I then took the Ford Expedition back to the certified dealer (conklin cars, newton , kansas) and they game me sheets of paper, last one give after 4 visits to dealer [xxx]) stating that Ford knows of the an issues, which appear to be right off the factory line. This has been over a year and there have been several close calls for me and my family without these sensors, which is standard in most cars these days. Me and my family expect these sensors to work on the vehicles we drive, rather basic or premium. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

10 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2015 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 03/01/2025

Back-up camera, the back over prevention: sensing system: camera only works intermittently. I'm being told me vehicle is not part of the current recall in the 2015 Expedition that was issued in April 2025, yet my vehicle (a 2015 Expedition) is experiencing the problems detailed in the recall. Why isn't my vehicle part of this recall, shouldn't the recall be expanded to all 2015 Expeditions experiencing problems with faulty back-up cameras?.

11 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2023 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 11/28/2024

The vehicle experienced a failure of multiple driver assistance and safety systems, with warning messages displayed in the instrument panel cluster. The affected systems include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keeping assistance, parking collision warning, and rear cross traffic warning. All of these features are currently inoperative. During normal vehicle operation, messages indicated that driver assistance features were unavailable or malfunctioning. Diagnostic trouble codes related to invalid data and lost communication were stored in multiple modules. The failures appear to be caused by the image processing module a (ipma) intermittently not communicating on the vehicle network. This condition created a significant safety risk because multiple federally advertised and manufacturer-promoted crash-avoidance and collision-mitigation features were unexpectedly disabled during normal driving. The sudden loss of these systems reduces situational awareness and increases the risk of a collision, particularly during highway driving, lane changes, and parking maneuvers. The issue has been acknowledged by the manufacturer in special service message (ssm 53419), which identifies ipma software as the likely cause. Temporary recovery procedures have been attempted, but the problem continues to recur. A permanent repair has not been provided, despite this condition being known for over one year. The issue has been confirmed by dealer diagnostics. Warning messages appeared prior to and during the loss of functionality. The affected components remain installed and are available for inspection. The underlying software defect has not been permanently corrected as of this report.

12 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2022 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 11/16/2024

My vehicle doesn’t alert me of incoming vehicles and the reverse camera stays on. When I turn on my vehicle the dash stays on with Ford sign so when I put on reverse my back up camera doesn’t turn on at all. I have to use all my mirrors to back out of parking. This feature hasn’t been working properly for a year. They keep telling me Ford is working to fix this issue.

13 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2020 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 07/25/2024

My park aid sensor fault comes on without cause and a picture of a car blocks the view to the screen that displays directions from google maps. It comes on suddenly and sporadically and has almost caused an accident several times as I don't know where I am going when this happens. I took my car to the dealership to get this fixed. The dealership charged me $213. 79 for the diagnosis and stated that this happens to alert me to a problem related to when a vehicle is approaching on the left or right and the audio component does not work. In other words, when a vehicle is approaching, the lights on the mirrors flash on but the noise does not present. They then told me that to stop the dangerous flashing of the car blocking my view of the map, that I would be charged almost $800 to repair. I told them I couldn't afford it and asked if they could just stop the random car display from happening and covering my map. To me, this is much more dangerous than the main quality defect preventing the sounds. I was told that they were not allowed to disable this malfunction and that it was not considered a quality defect or recall issue. I am currently driving in an unsafe vehicle due to a design flaw in a vehicle that is not yet 4 years old that I can't afford to fix myself. The fields below don't allow me to enter information. I have not been in an accident yet due to this. It happens at various speeds. My vehicle has about 52000 miles on it.

14 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2022 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 07/15/2023

Since purchasing this vehicle in January of 2023, it has been to the dealer three times to repair a failed blind spot monitoring system and rear cross traffic alert system due to corroded pins in the connectors of the sensors. According to the dealer, this is due to the connector utilizing only four of eight pins which leaves four pins unused and open to corrosion. On the third trip in, the dealer applied, "super glue" to try and prevent any future corrosion. While there was not a specific accident related to this, I do believe this has the potential to cause issues in the future if not properly addressed by Ford. See attached pdf from dealer for additional supporting information.

15 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2015 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 05/15/2023

The vehicle dashboard goes blank while driving, followed by the vehicle transmission slipping out of gear. This vehicle can be made available; however, it does not transfer gears. The problem has not been satisfactorily reproduced or diagnosed. The Ford service department simply stated that I needed a new transmission. The dashboard goes blank.

16 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2020 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 02/14/2023

My transmission shifts very hard while driving. Mainly from 4th to 5th gear while going 50mph on a decline. The car has been in the shop for it a couple times and have yet to “replicate” the issue or repair it. The blind monitor system keeps saying it’s having an issue responding to the transmission. I get notified on my app constantly, yet the dealership has told me they can’t replicate it therefore no repairs have been made.

17 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2020 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 02/06/2023

Transmission failed multiple times. Caused loss of forward movement and inability to move out of the way of traffic. Caused blind spot sensors to become inoperable. Vehicle would not move and had to push it out of the road and was almost struck by multiple vehicles. Repaired under warranty replaced transmission. Second trans mission has started doing it again. It fails at highway and city speeds. No warning lights pryor to failure.

18 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2018 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 11/22/2020

Ford Expedition was travelling at 50-60km/hr while passing an emergency vehicle on a highway. The Expedition was struck from behind by a utility van travelling around 110km/hr. Both front seats slid forward and also reclined on impact. This caused both front passengers to sustain bruising on their calf's due to the seats sliding forward and whiplash from both front seats reclining. Both front seats trapped children in their car seats in the 2nd row form being reclined. No air bags deployed in the accident as well!.
