1 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2003 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 07/07/2020

Fuel tank vapor recovery unit developed a crack due to manufacturing defects in plastic weld, permitting gasoline vapor and gasoline fuel to escape from the fuel tank in an uncontrolled and unsafe way. The problem manifested as a fuel vapor leak when the vehicle was parked on a 0-degree surface (level surface) and as a continuous fuel drip when the vehicle was parked on a 10-degree downslope, with the front of the vehicle pointed down-hill.

Fuel tank crack and leaks.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 01/21/2018

My truck was purchased new and I have recently had more fuel gas waste quickly in the past year. I recently had the fuel line changed in June 2017 because a spark plug burnt out and caused it to have a leak that was dangerously close to the gas tank. I have 123k miles on it and the check engine line comes on every time after half a gas tank is done. I had the truck driving and it shuts off on its own. Sometimes it will have a strong shaking of the motor or no warning at all while driving on the road. I'm very concerned because we thought it was the camshaft which is what the error code pops up and the spark plugs and coils have been replaced. Every thing else has been maintained but I'm still have the engine and fuel problem. The gas goes so fast and this is a v8 where I usually drive a 6 mile to work now says it has been a 40 mile drive. Don't know what else to do and may take it back to trade for another vehicle brand. I had to park the truck after it shut off on me again on a side street before getting on the highway.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 03/28/2016

Takata recall my 2008 Expedition eb broke down when I was at a red light. Had to call for a tow truck cause didnt want to start cranked but didnt want to run. Brought it home check engine light was on so checked normal stuff fuses an relays everything seemed fine no fuses were blown. Am really mechanical myself checked to see if it was getting gas so checked pressure on fuel rails an justed like I guessed the first no fuel. So decided to drop the gas tank to see if pump went out so took out pump an it had shorten out on plug burn melted the harness. So my thing is this should be a recall an have Ford fix it at no cost. My worry is that what if it had blown up with me in it an worse what if my kids were in it an this would of been a death trap explosion more like it this should be a concern to all Ford owners bad product. Issue that I haven't seen a recall on the fuel system but this should be looked into. An by the way my Expedition only has 114346 miles this is a big safety issue.

8 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2002 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 10/15/2004

My 2002 Expedition 4. 6 has for the past year stalled out on an incline with 1/4 tank of gas. It will also revved up and lurch forward when restarted, even while standing on brakes. The dealership has replaced many things and has no reason why it does this. I have had enough. This is a 2002 automobile and the 21st century, this shoudl not be happening to a new car. A dealership should not be unable to correct this problem. Ford needs to find the problem and issue a recall, before a lawsuit ensues.

9 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 1998 Ford Expedition

Fuel gauge reads 1/8 of a tank or less and vehicle runs out of gas.

10 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 1998 Ford Expedition

When driving vehicle if the gas gauge is below 1/4, the vehicle stops. Before the last repair, this happend if the gauge was below 1/2 tank. Consumer took vehicle to Ford dealership for repairs 4 to 5 times since November 14, 1997. Three days after consumer bought vehicle . The dealership has replaced gas gauges, and the last time they replaced the fuel sending unit.

11 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 1998 Ford Expedition

The fuel tank is placed in such a manner that when the vehicle is driven up hill (or is parked facing up hill) the fuel gauge will register up to a quarter tank more than on a flat surface, and when travelling down hill (or when parked facing down hill) the gas gauge will register up to a quarter tank less than on a flat surface. The result is that when travelling or being parked on a down hill surface the vehicle will either not start or run out of gas, despite the fact that the vehicle has a quarter tank of gasoline. I contacted a Ford dealer in glendale when I first experienced the problem, but they only responded that this is the vehicle's design. The dealer also provided me with a technical service bulletin acknowledging Ford's knowledge of the gas tank fluctuation problem. The reason I am now, and once again, making this an issue is that I recently, due to the gas tank fluctuation, ran out of gas while driving down hill, despite a quarter tank reading on the gas gauge while travelling on a level surface. I strongly urge NHTSA to perform a safety analysis on this gas tank defect. A vehicle which becomes inoperative while driving down hill is truly an unsafe vehicle.
