Eight problems related to brake foundation components have been reported for the 1996 Ford Explorer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
When stepping on brake, vehicle accellerated as brake pedal is lower than the gas pedal. This happened to two different drivers of above Explorer, and to a witness of todays accident in his own Explorer.

Brakes failed twice.
While driving vehicle on the expressway vehicle accelerated to a very high speed, gas pedal went all the went to the floor, vehicle went wide open. This condition continued with foot on brakes, almost caused a serious accident. This happened twice.
