Hood Latch problems of the 1998 Ford Explorer

Lifted hood, engaged hydraulic air lift feature to hold hood up. Hood suddenly and without warning fell, striking my left upper arm, causing severe bruising and pain. No action taken yet to remedy situation other than I will not open hood unless I have a stick or some sort of device to hold hood open.

Consumer stated that when checking under the hood the hood latch snapped and it could have caused injuries to the consumer. Dealer will be notified. Ts.

Hood slammed shut unexpectedly during servicing. Hood supports are now very weak and cannot support the weight of the hood.

Consumer was never notified of hood latch recall 99v-164. Nlm.

Have received two mfr's recalls and unable to get honor; 99 v 164 000/secondary hood latch & 99 v 062 001/ cruise /speed control cable. Dealer stating parts are not available. Please provide any further details:.

Consumer contacted dealer in reference to recalls 99v164000 , hood latch; and 99v06200, speed control cable. Dealer stated parts were not available, refused to correct recall.

Consumer not able to have recalls performed, due to scheduling problems. Yh (99v-062) and (99v-164).

Dealer refused recall repair (99v-164) / (99v-062).
