Windshield Wiper/washer Switch problems of the 1999 Ford Explorer

Six problems related to windshield wiper/washer switch have been reported for the 1999 Ford Explorer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Windshield Wiper/washer Switch problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2007

The windshield wipers will start on their own. When it happens, they will continue intermittently until I turn the wipers on high then turn them back off. It is extremely intermittent, sometimes going months before it will do it. Has been doing this for about a year.

2 Windshield Wiper/washer Switch problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2004

This is an intermittent problem where the windshield wipers engage without being prompted to do so and for no apparent reason.

3 Windshield Wiper/washer Switch problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2003

Rear windshield wiper switch/motor failed from time to time.

4 Windshield Wiper/washer Switch problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2000

After using window washer, wipers come on when using signals. Happens all the time.

5 Windshield Wiper/washer Switch problem

While driving in rainy weather conditions windshield wipers become inoperable. Dealer states that the problem occures due a malfunction within the module switch. Ford unable to repair problem and will not allow dealer to replace the switch.

6 Windshield Wiper/washer Switch problem

Windshield wipers randomly activate when switch is in off position.
