The technicians stated sugar was found in the fuel system. The technicians replaced the fuel pump,cleaned the fuel tank, and replaced the fuel filter. After the repairs, the fuel gauge continued to read empty constantly. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 74,000.

I was told that it was a common problem with the tank breader and it would cost around $ 600. 00 to fix it. It is a safety issue because the gas comes right back at you and can cause a major fire. Ford should voluntary fix this defective problem at no charge.
