The problem that I'm cocerned about is the transmission and rear end. For the transmission-this is the third time for this problem with our truck. Had it at the dealer ship just after the warrnety went out around 37,000 an paid a little over $600. 00 to fix it . Lasted till 80,000 them took it back and paid around $200. 00 to fix. Now at 136,000 and the truck will not move at all. Dealer ship want's another $3,306. 00 to fix it again. The rear end is making a loud wine noise.
I have a 2004 Ford Explorer and it recently started making a rumbling noise. I brought it to my mechanic and he looked at it and said it was my transmission. He also said that it was an extremly common problem for 2004 Explorers. If you google "2004 Explorer problems" and click on any of the links the first problem is transmission issues. I have owned this car since it was new in 2004 and have not abused the car. For a 2004 car with only 75000 miles on it to have a transmission go it is a problem. I have been quoted $3000 to fix this problem the fix being a new transmission. When Ford knows about this problem they should do something about it.
: the contact stated while driving 50 mph there was a loud noise heard coming from under the vehicle. The vehicle then lurched forward and came to a complete stop on the highway as if the rear wheels were locked causing minor injuries to the driver and passenger. After restarting the vehicle, the over drive light illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the local dealership and they determined there was metal in the transmission pan. They replaced the crank shaft pulley assembly, compressor, power belt, bolt, vibration damper, screen assembly, bearings, output shaft, pistons, rods and the carrier over drive. The manufacturer was alerted.
. 3- now it has actually began to die instead of just stalling and hesitating. Now they advise its the throttle sensor. In all 3 cases - when putting the car in reverse there is always a hesitation, then it will jerk hard into reverse. When slowing down at a stop sign or red light there will be another banging noise coming from the transmission. When putting the car in drive from the reverse there is always a delay then will jerk in forward drive. Now the little wrench comes on and the check engine light comes on, when driving down the highway the car will die for no apparent reason, when this happens I can not do anything!!!! when is this going to be fixed? Ford waiting on someone to get killed first? I have almost caused two wrecks with my car stalling out on the highway, as you can imagine going from 65 mph and then die without a warning and what am I to do with the traffic behind me? this is serious!! I took my car in and had it hooked up to the machine to read what was going on and the mechanic should me that the car would read nothing on any of their machines! the consumers need your help! we have these new (2004) vehicles that are dangerous and we should not be having to pay for a lemon. Ford motor company had to know when this happen in their plant and should have not sold these cars!!!! please help and issue a recall, thank you for all of your help.
When moving gear selector from park to reverse and sometimes drive, there is a lag of about 3 to 5 seconds and then a loud clunking noise followed by a power surge of vehicle going into gear. Worried transmission is failing again. Took in for repairs same on same incident they said it was fixed. And guess what, I believed them.
Vehicle traveled at various speeds the transmission failed and as a result vehicle was unable to move and made an idling noise. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for repairs for fourth time this year.
When putting transmission in reverse it hesitates and slams in to gear. Very loud humming noise in rear when in any speed of acceleration. Vehicle is going to dealership tommorow.
