My 2017 Explorer limited (11042 miles driven since new as of today ) and purchased new December 2017 factory equipped with hankook ventus s1 noble 2 tires, are vibrating at all speeds and won`t hold air pressure longer than two weeks. During inspection, minute hairline cracks were detected on all 4 tires. This vehicle has only been driven short distances not exceeding 50 miles radius. The tires were rotated at 5000 miles. The vehicle was taken to a reputable shop for inspection and they recommend replacing all four tires ASAP. This tires should also be included in the recall ASAP.
Oem hankook tires on 2017 Ford Explorer: with less than 15,000 miles on my 2017 Explorer, it began to hydroplane at much lower speeds than when new. The tires are oem, hankook, ventus s1 noble. I took the car to fugate Ford, who said they recently processed two other vehicles with bad hankook tires. On closer inspection with doug at fugate, you could see the tire tread was ripping away from itself all the way around the tire. Fugate took pictures and phoned hankook. Fugate called me to say that because the tires had 6/32 tread remaining, they would not process the claim. Hankook needed the tread wear to be 4/32 or less. In my view, that's ridiculous. . . These hankook tires are defective and unsafe, whether at 6/32 or 4/32. Today, I had all four defective tires replaced.
2017 Ford Explorer sport. Basically the original hankook ventus tires that came on the car have worn incredibly fast. 15000 currently and they are almost bald on the edges. Dealer claimed that alignment was fine. Tires always inflated and rotated. I think this is a safety issue. These tire are not adequate for this size vehicle. Ford hopes that consumers are stupid and just buy new tires. These tires will get people killed. Ford should not use these tires. Actually come to think of it my 2018 vw gti has the same tires and I had a sidewall fail within 300 miles of purchasing. Hankook is garbage!!!!!!.
2017 Ford Explorer equipped with hankook ventus s1 noble 2 105h tires, size: 255/50r20. Chunks and pieces of the rubber are detaching, peeling, and flaking from the tire tread surface. The tires have 13,100 miles on them. They are oem from Ford. There are lots of complaints on the internet Ford complaint web sites. Dot date is (1416) this is a manufacture defect.
Hankook ventus s1 noble2 (excluded from recall) are wearing extraordinary fast and the rubber is starting to pull apart, flake away. Chucks of rubber are coming off of the tire and leaving holes that appear to be about 1/4 inch deep . This will be our second set of tires with the same issue and the vehicle has only 40,000 miles.
I lease a2017 Ford Explorer sport which currently has 20,000 miles. I went to flood Ford dealership for an oil change and was advised my hankook tires were wearing rapidly and would need to be replaced soon. The service advisor stated that there have been a lot of problems with these certain tires. I inquired due to the vehicle being under warranty if they would be replaced at no cost to me. The dealer advised that they contacted hankook and they would only give me 500 dollars towards a new set. I feel this is unacceptable for me the consumer due to the fact hankook acknowledges there is a defect with their product and my vehicle is still under the bumper to bumper warranty. Thank you christopher decesare.
Purchased 2017 Ford Explorer February 2017 with original hankook ventus s1 noble2 255/50r20 105h tires. Have 20,000 miles and have been rotated at each oil change; have been experiencing low air pressure readings, chipping on tires, and extreme treadwear. Dealer suggested to contact hankook directly because others have experienced similar issues. Many attempts to contact hankook customer service have not been successful. . . This is another dangerous issue similar to the firestone disaster.
Hankook ventus s1 noble 2 tire chipping/peeling at 5000 miles. Front two tires worse than rear. Rotated tires and replaced the two that were on the front through the dealer. Now the the tires have front tires have 10,000 miles and are chipping/peeling.
Hankook tires (255/50r20 105h ventus s1 noble 2) that came with the vehicle are showing unusual cracking and chipping. The vehicle only has 11,400 miles and is driven about 5 miles per day and mostly in a residential area. I took vehicle in for a routine oil change/tire rotation and service technician warned me that the tires were wearing and chipping. Each tire has visible chunks coming out of the treads. I called Ford and hankook today and reported this problem, but I have to wait a full week for an appointment to get this inspected. Other owners of this vehicle have reported similar problems and it is very concerning that Ford/hankook hasn't taken action to recall and replace these tires. . Read more...
While driving the vehicle at approximately 20 mph a loud noise was heard and the left rear tire rapidly deflated. Installed the factory spare tire. Noted a 2" long slice across the tread of the tire. Took to local mechanic for replacement. Mechanic discovered that the tire was not punctured. The tire failed. The other 3 tires were in similar condition. You could pick pieces of rubber out of the tire with your bare hands. Tires are 1 year old and had 20,000 miles on them. Ford dealership said they were aware of an issue with the hankook ventus s1 noble 2 tires, size: 255/50r20. The dealership offered a $196 credit per tire for a tire of my choice. I had to pay for labor. It the failed tire had been on the front of the vehicle and operating at highway speeds, this could have caused a very serious accident.
I have a 2017 Ford Explorer with 5500 miles and noticed the tires are having uneven wear they are hankook ventus s1 noble 2 in 255/50/20 5mn1ah 1316 this is a known issue and these should be covered under the factory/ tire warranty as it states from 1 mile to 12k miles it is covered 100% in the manual and hankook wants to pro rate the tires for a defect that is caused my the manufacturing process shame on them.
2017 Ford Explorer equipped with hankook ventus s1 noble 2 105h tires, size: 255/50r20. Tires, chunks and pieces of the rubber detached from the tires. Called malloy Ford in winchester va and said needed to contact a hankook dealer no one will help and according to the tire manufacturer warranty that comes with new car would only cover sixty percent of the tire replacement after 12,000 miles. The vehicle manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The tires were not replaced. The tire and vehicle failure mileage is 21,500 with 6/32 thread. Ford has multiple complaints and doing nothing to help either is hankook . Tires are a road hazard and could blow out and cause a accident this needs investigated.
2017 Ford Explorer sport with hankook 255/50r20 105h ventus s1 noble 2 tires are chipping/cutting and wearing prematurely. Vehicle only has 12,500 miles.
Takata recall my car has 23,000 and the front hankook tires are bald and flaking off.
Tires that came with vehicle have chunks of tread peeling off /cutting from normal driving of 9100 miles and 11 months. This presents several hazards such as vehicle stability, traction and potential blowout / rollovers other sizes these same hankook ventus s1 noble2 have already been recalled due to similar failures. These are 255/50 r 20 size.
Tl-the contact owns a 2017 Ford Explorer equipped with hankook tires, tire line ventus noble 2 s1, tire size: 255/50/r20, and dot number: 5mnc18h-1416 the contact stated that all four tires that have been rotated that the tire on the driver's side's tread was gone and chunks of rubber were missing. The contact had the unknown Ford dealer contact the tire manufacturer on his behalf and they told the dealer that the vehicle had 40,000 miles and was beyond warranty coverage. The tires had a NHTSA recall number:15t024000 (tires). The tire manufacturer has not responded back to the contact trying to directly speak to them. The tire failure mileage was 20,000. Tf.
Front tires hankook ventus s1 noble 2 255/50r20 are shredding and chipping at 10k miles.
I took my car in for a oil change and my dealer called to inform me I needed to replace all my tires as the treads were all in the unsafe area. The tires are: hankook ventus s1 nobel 2 size 255/50r20 dot 5mnc 1a h 1316 these tires have 23,000 miles on them and came oem on 2017 Ford Explorer. The tire tread is gone. Premature wear. Please investigate as others are reporting the same exact problem on the same vehicle. See Ford bulliton ssm 46905.
Went to dealer for routine maintenance and dealer indicated I need immediate tire replacement of all 4 tires because the tread is flaking off! the vehicle was parked in the service bay drive. There are visible signs of tread separations and gouges in the tires. My Explorer has 28k miles on it and the manufacturer warranty says 50k. I believe this is a tire defect. I have an excellent service record on my vehicle and this is not normal wear for any tires. This Explorer was purchased new from the dealer with these tires. I was a previous owner of a 2013 Explorer (also purchased new) and the tires lasted 60k. After researching, there seem to be a number of complaints from Ford Explorer owners about this same issue. Please investigate.
Re:hankook ventus s1 noble 2 255/50r20 105h-on 01/20/18, I was advised by a new friend to have my tires checked out. He noticed the pieces of tire chipping off and was concerned for my safety. The following week, I took my car to olin mott, a longtime & reputable area tire store. They informed me that all 4 tires were showing signs of "peeling" & recommended that I take my car back to the dealership where I had first purchased it. On 01/26/18 I took my car into the dealership to have them looked at. The dealership came back & said that they'd have to file a complaint w/ the tire manufacturer & they'd take pictures of all 4 tires & would let me know what the tire manufacturer said needed to be done. 6 days later, the dealership calls stating that hankook tires advised that all 4 tires need to be replaced & that the'dd offer a 50% prorata price basis. My vehicle manufacture sticker date is 04/17. I purchased my car on June 14, 2017 brand new. Less than 8 months of ownership, I now have to replace all 4 tires. As of 01/26/18, I had approx 14,300 miles. Now at 16,400 miles, they are peeling and now chunks are now coming out of all 4 tires. I have an appt in 05/12/18 to purchase 4 new tires. Bc after paying $40,000 less than a year ago, I have to save the money. This tire has numerous complaints all over the USA. Ford won't take responsibility even though they contracted w/ hankook tires in 2011 for hankook to be the official fitment tire for the Ford Explorer. Also, Ford/Lincoln extended their contract recently. Other brands such as hyaundi have recently cancelled their partnership w/ hankook. If something is not done about these tires, it's my fear that someone is going to be seriously injured or killed. Ford should also take responsibility bc they put the tires on their new vehicles they want to sell & do sell. Location: tampa, FL. Please help us, the consumers. Thanks!.
It has been just over 1 year driving this vehicle, 8115 miles currently. A few days ago while walking around my car, I noticed chipping, cracking, & peeling away of the tread on my tires. It does not look normal and not too sure if it is safe to continue to drive. I took it to the local Ford dealer where we leased it from and they claimed that it is normal tire wear for hawaii roads. I dont think so. I have owned several vehicles over the past few years and have never seen this before. The vehicle has never been off-road, pulled a heavy load, or driven aggressively, and is in immaculate condition otherwise. The vehicle was just in for service just over 1 month ago so I am not sure how this was not caught in the multi-point inspection or the tire rotation they supposedly did.
Hankook ventus s1 nobel 2 size 255/50r20 105h dot 5mnc 1a h 1916 these tires have 16,940 miles (13 months since bought it) on them and came oem on 2017 Ford Explorer. The tire tread is peeling and shredding. Premature wear. I took it to Ford and they said that a service message (ssm 46905) relative to 2015-2018 Explorer- hankook tires- chipping, cutting and/or unusual/accelerated tread wear. The message states " some 2015-2018 Explorer vehicles equipped with hankook brand tires may exhibit chipping, cutting and/or unusual or even accelerated tread wear. If the size wall is marked as:255/50r20 105h ventus s1 noble 2contact hankook technical services". The dealer did and hankook knows about the issue but only offered a 50% discount on new tires as a corrective measure. So basically they sold bad tires an the customer has to pay to fix the problem.
The subject vehicle has approximately 12,200 miles on oem supplied hankook ventus s1 noble 2 tires. Size 255/50r20. Tread is peeling off and premature wear. 50k mile rated tire is at 5/32 @ approx. 12200 miles with scheduled rotation performed. Ford dealer and hankook rep have acknowledged hankook is having a problem with these tires on this vehicle. Please investigate the safety of these tires. See attached photo of peeled tread.
My vehicle has about 19,000 miles and the tires are about bald. Took my local dealer and they are telling me that Ford will not address the issue. This vehicle cannot go through another winter. Many complaints on line about this same issue with hankook tires on Ford Explorers. Hankook or Ford need to step up before major problems occcur. Should not have to be replacing tires that are rated for 50,000 miles when they are under 20,000. Have maintained this vehicle regularly with correct tire pressure and tire rotations. I have been attempting to resolve this issue with my dealer for several months when I noticed unusually extensive wear.
Hankook ventus s1 noble2 tires have large chunks coming off the tread at 9,300 miles (reported to dealer); condition got worse at 12,000miles (reported to dealership again); condition continues to get worse at 14,000 miles (car left at dealership for tires to be sent to hankook).
2016 Ford Explorer limited equipped with hankook ventus s1 noble 2 tires size 255/50 r20. The dot code on the tires is 5mnc 1ah 0716. The vehicle odometer shows 4,186 miles. On February 19, 2017 while driving on a residential street at less than 25mph the front passenger side tire suffered a "catastrophic" sidewall failure resulting in the tire going completely flat in less that 1 minute. The failure occurred on the inside sidewall of the tire. (this seems to be the same symptom for which hankook issued an earlier - Jan 2016 - recall. ) all four tires were properly inflated as indicated by the tire pressure monitoring system. To the best of our knowledge the tire had never struck an object that could have weakened the sidewall.
