Two problems related to tire tread/belt have been reported for the 1997 Ford Explorer Sport. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
1997 Ford explorer traveling east bound on I-16 when left rear tire tread came off a cooper futura tire causing driver to lose control vehicle flipped several times then right front tire came off completely causing another flip this time tail over nose cause all 4 kids to be thrown out killing one on impact and another died 2 days later from injuries in hospital.
Consumer experienced tread separation, he was advised that he did meet the recall criteria, but the tires that he has were not manufactured in decatur IL.
