One problem related to electric power assist steering system has been reported for the 2001 Ford Explorer Sport. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
When tilting the steering wheel down it shuts everything off. Then, when placing it back to the normal position everything comes back on, the brake lights/turn signals, and consumer hears an electrical buzzing inside the steering wheel.
