1 Equipment problem of the 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 03/01/2025

As I was driving to work one morning suddenly my headlights and all interior lights, such as the dashboard, suddenly went out without any warning and nothing electrical would work such as the radio and the windows and all the gauges in the dash dropped to zero or the needle fell all the way to the left. This has become an ongoing problem and I never know when it's going to go out or come back on for that matter and sometimes when it's acting crazy my speedometer will just jump all over the place. I believe this is a safety issue not only for myself but for other drivers on the road as my lights may suddenly go out as I am driving to work at 4:00 a. M. When it is dark. It is also a safety issue because when this happens I have no idea what speed I am driving or how much gas I have left or if my vehicle is starting to get hot. I have not taken the vehicle to the dealer or anywhere else for fear of it costing an arm and a leg to fix the problem, as every single Ford that I have ever owned seems to have had some type of electrical issue. I do have video of my gauges going crazy as I am driving on the highway; however looking ahead in this form it looks as if I can only submit photos and not a video.

2 Equipment problem of the 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 12/19/2018

The front, driver's side, tire came apart and caused considerable damage to my vehicle's body and possibly other damages not seen. I need to take the vehicle to a mechanic for an inspection to see if there are other damages. The tire is a good year eagle rs-a. The dot # is 4b08 dlwr 3701. Tire size p235/70r16. I was driving on interstate I-75 when the tire came apart. It was terribly scary. I did not realize what had happened and thought the vehicle was falling apart. I pulled onto the emergency lane and realized the tire had come apart. The rubber coming off the tire caused quite a bit of body damage. The visible damages include damages to the driver's side head light, rubber ripped out the driver's side blinker, molding under the driver's door was ripped out, paint damage, tire well damage and loosening of other molding on driver's side. A mechanic will have to inspect for unseen damages.

6 Equipment problem of the 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 11/01/2015

Ford transmission failed at 100,000 miles. Car stalled in the middle of a busy intersection, could not move. A lot of complaints have been filed about Ford's poor transmission and surprised there is yet to be a recall about their poor quality transmissions.

7 Equipment problem of the 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 07/01/2015

I have had 3 tire blow outs in the short time I have had this truck due to the tires rubbing on a part of the steering when making turns. Its rubs off the material of the tire. . . . . Also the rear passanger door can not be opened from the inside and bearly opens from the outside. I have a young child making this extremely dangerous. Your site wants me to enter a date. . . I can't recall all three dates.

2007 Ford 4door XLT gas pedal stuck while driver was pulling through fast food drive through. Basically, the car was in a stopped position. But when driver moved forward to leave, the gas pedal hesitated and then stuck, lunged forward out of control; startled the driver and car hit a pole. 9 Equipment problem of the 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 02/05/2015

This vehicle continuously just cuts off. We have tried several different costly repairs and the truck still does not run right, it is still cutting off. This is a safety issue because it can happen anytime anywhere, even driving down the road. I spoke with Ford and all they did was open a case file but told me there was nothing that could be done. We purchased this vehicle in December 2014 and was told the only thing wrong with it was that it needed the rotors turned on the brakes which we have done. Then it started doing this. We have had it towed 6 times in about 2 months. 3 mechanics have tried to repair the truck with no luck. We are tapped out trying to fix this truck. I feel sure the guy who sold it to us knew the truck was doing this but opted not to tell us. Also I blame Ford for the problems we are having, even their technician doesn't know how to fix the problem.

10 Equipment problem of the 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 09/02/2014

My Ford sport trac has failed to lock when the gear shift is put into the park position. When you start to get out the vehicle will roll and you will hear a clicking noise in the transmission. It has done this for some time and I had it fixed once but it is doing it again.

11 Equipment problem of the 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 04/08/2014

Issue is that when I apply the brakes and I do not have my foot sufficiently in the center or to the left of the brake petal it depress the accelerator petal when the brake petal in fully depressed. This causes acceleration of the engine and possible forward or reward movement until I comprehend what is going on and remove my foot. I have never had this concern with any vehicle I have owned over the years. It appears that the gas petal is too close to the brake petal or the brake petal requires too much depression to fully engage brakes. Issue is exacerbated when I wear sport shoes which have a larger foot print.

12 Equipment problem of the 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 12/31/2013

The window will go down but it wont go up on the driver side and on the passenger side it doesn't work at all.

13 Equipment problem of the 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 07/15/2013

Radiator leaking coolant intermittently. Noticed that the radiator was leaking at the bottom, on the passenger side. After inspecting the problem I determined that the radiator was leaking from the top. I had my mechanic look at it but was unable to locate the leak (the mechanic replaced the radiator cap). The radiator does not leak constantly, making it difficult to determine the problem. This seem to be a common problem with these vehicles. Please issue a recall.

14 Equipment problem of the 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 04/17/2013

Body/chassis mounts are deteriorating and crumbling. Body is now loose on the frame and has slight movement. These mounts are not rubber like most; they are some sort of urethane composite. Internet research and truck owner sites confirm this to be a common problem. Ford does not see this as a safety/recall issue and has directed owners of suspect vehicles to your department. This particular vehicle has never been in salt or snow . The cab shaking and rattling is causing movement that will undoubtedly effect the brake lines and steering column as they are attached to both the body and the chassis. Ford is now using another compound for the mounts apparently in response to complaints.

16 Equipment problem of the 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 08/15/2007

In November 2007 I received a recall notice. I promptly contacted my local dealer and placed my name on the "wait" list. I have called three time since August and have been assured each time that I am still on the list; however, manufacturer has not shipped the part for my 2001 Ford sport trac.

17 Equipment problem of the 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 04/06/2005

Issue is non safety related. Issue with known manufacturers defect covered under warranty that cannot be repaired and will not be replaced. Purchased vehicle new in September of 2003. Desired feature was hard tonneau cover to keep bed dry and secure. Cover leaked. Took back to dealer after approximately a year and a half to get repaired and was told that "leaking" was not a covered item per Ford warranty group and that it was expected. Told to resolve with customer service if had further questions. Called customer service to clarify why they didn't consider leaking a covered item and was told it was covered and they would work with dealer to understand why not fixed. Got call back next day stating that Ford was aware of leaking issues and while should be a warranty covered item, they did not know how to fix or if they ever would. Was told to check back periodically to see if any fix had been issued. Ford is not honoring their stated warranty. It has been 2 years since my 2003 was put on the market and still no fix for the issue which Ford says they have been aware of. My $600 spent on a tonneau cover to keep the bed dry is wasted and Ford is still selling this tonneau cover to other consumers.
