1 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 04/16/2015

Fuel guage on my 2005 Ford sportrac does not register correctly. Needle stuck at 1/4 tank and sometimes will move, but can not be trusted. Even after filling up, it will not show full tank. Have to use trip meter to have any idea when to re-fuel. This is very annoying and after researching on internet, we found this is a very common problem with Ford and has been a problem for a long time. This situation should be corrected by Ford via recalls on their vehicles. It could certainly be a safety issue while driving.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 03/22/2011

I have had fuel tank issues for a year now and they are getting worse. My gauge stopped working about 13 months ago which was no big deal. Now I am unable to put more then 4-5 gallons of gas in at a time. The safety sensor stops the pump from filling up my tank and if I try to do it a little at a time it just shoots gas out of my fill area and gets everywhere. I have been doused in gas and I have run out of gas in very bad areas. The sensor replacement was only a temporary fix, now it's impossible to put gas in my tank and it's starting to run poorly. I have to stop everyday for gas. This is a malfunctioning Ford part that should be recalled and replaced. I have run out of gas and when that happens every thing shuts down including the power steering. It was dangerous and difficult to maneuver my truck, I was getting on the freeway and the on ramp was a semi-circle.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 11/24/2002

Driving in the rain causes debris and water to get into the fuel tank which leads to a fueling problem. If you try to fuel the car at any speed of the gas pump, gasoline spits back at tremendous pressure. It covers the car, the fueling person and Ford is not letting this secret out to the public. I talked to two mechanics at the dealership my car is in (the car has been there for a month, this time) and they said it's a factory defect caused by two canisters that are to keep rain and feul out. This is a dangerous condition!!!!!!!!!!! I've seen people with cigarettes in their hand while refueling. If this happens to them they are going to die because of the amout of fuel that spits back. I've filed for the lemon law because I don't want a car that does this because they are not addressing the issue only replacing the same part.
