1 Wheel problem of the 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 12/19/2018

The front, driver's side, tire came apart and caused considerable damage to my vehicle's body and possibly other damages not seen. I need to take the vehicle to a mechanic for an inspection to see if there are other damages. The tire is a good year eagle rs-a. The dot # is 4b08 dlwr 3701. Tire size p235/70r16. I was driving on interstate I-75 when the tire came apart. It was terribly scary. I did not realize what had happened and thought the vehicle was falling apart. I pulled onto the emergency lane and realized the tire had come apart. The rubber coming off the tire caused quite a bit of body damage. The visible damages include damages to the driver's side head light, rubber ripped out the driver's side blinker, molding under the driver's door was ripped out, paint damage, tire well damage and loosening of other molding on driver's side. A mechanic will have to inspect for unseen damages.

4 Wheel problem of the 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 06/26/2016

I purchased a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Tract I didn't get to test drive it because there were other vehical surrounding it. When I finally got to drive my truck home I noticed the transmission had a severe issue. When I turned a corner my tires rubbed badly on some other part to the trucks parts and the driver seat has a medal rod that jabs me in the back that's coming thru the fabric now my battery has leaked acid every where in the battery compartment and surrounding areas.

5 Wheel problem of the 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 03/08/2016

I replaced the original oem pirelli tires in December 2015 when the vehicle had approximately 36,000 miles on it. They were replaced with the same brand, size and style of pirelli tires. On March 8, 2016 at approx. 42,000 miles I returned to the tire shop to have the tires rebalanced after noticing some bumpiness. The tire shop discovered that in two of the tires the steel band which held the tpms sensor in place had disintegrated and was free floating in the tire and had ruined the inner liners in the tires making them extremely unsafe. I contacted my local Ford dealer and inquired about possible recalls and/or bulletins involving the steel bands used on the tpms. Ford denied any previous issues with the bands however they did note that Ford had quit using the steel bands after only using them a short while. I feel Ford motor company owes me the $542. 72 I am out for the replacement of the tires and sensors I had to replace to remedy a very unsafe situtation. I replace the bands and sensors in the other two tires as well with a replacement type which doesn't involve steel bands. Ford should issue a recall notice immediately to remedy an unsafe tpms band system immediately which could have resulted in a catastrophic accident if the situtation had not been discovered by the tire shop. I'm enclosing a copy of my expenses and a picture of the broken bands which were discovered within my tires.

10 Wheel problem of the 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 03/18/2011

(year 2011 to 2013 all this happened lemon) the wheel bearings went on the vehicle. . . Had to have all three replaced. . . Both front . . . One drivers side back. It wasn't the tires because they were brand new. ( $2. 100 including labor) the mechanic stated that never should have happened. This seems to be an on going problem with sport tracs . . . I am to have the right rear passenger side done soon . . . No one has over $700. . . To put towards a vehicle in this day and age with the economy the way it is. This sport trac has been with so many issues to do with wheels, transmission (one month in the repair shop, reverse and drive gone on the tranny( $6897. 65), radiator (replaced 3x due to rupture of the, cooling and heating system $1017. ), hoses breaking ($200). . . No wonder they quit making them total pain in the keester and very hard on the pocket book. It is paid for and is mine that is the only reason I keep it. I cannot afford to get another vehicle. . . But I will never buy another Ford again. Their service says it all. . . It is horrible. Since purchasing this vehicle I have spent $10,903. 65 in repairs. The truck is very hard on tires. . . I don't squeel my tires but I travel 70 to and from daily for work. . Every year baby needs new rubber boots. $689. Not fair in all essence the vehicle is only 6 yrs old. I have had better and it certainly wasn't a Ford. You can share this with them if you like because they need to see that their service department did nothing for me and I took it to acute auto care for my transmission etc.

11 Wheel problem of the 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 06/16/2010

In 2008 and then 2010 the front sealed wheel bearings assemblies have gone bad, requiring a wheel bearing kit by the dealer to fix the problem. Now in may~June 2012, the rear wheel bearing assembly is experiencing the same problem. Ford is aware of the issue in the explorer series, but doing nothing to fix the problem, other than charging you $700 per wheel ( $350 parts/ $350 labor) to fix the problem. Nice little operation the dealer/Ford corp. Have going. Other explorer owners I talked with have had the same problem.
