Steering Knuckle Spindle problems of the 1997 Ford F-150

Three problems related to steering knuckle spindle have been reported for the 1997 Ford F-150. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Steering Knuckle Spindle problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2004

While driving at 30 mph consumer tried to make a right and the vehicle kept going straight. Vehicle ended up in a ditch on the side of the road. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, who verified that the steering arm fell off the steering box.

2 Steering Knuckle Spindle problem

Failure Date: 12/29/2002

The steering shaft became detached from the steering gear box.

3 Steering Knuckle Spindle problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2000

Ford said no recall at this time. There should be steering knuckle is weak.
