Door problems of the 1998 Ford F-150 - part 2

The drivers side door has developed a crack in it. The metal itsself is actually cracking. The crack is located near the window and extends appox 1/2" from thw window out. I contacted Ford and they informed me that it was not their problem as the vehicle is over the mileage. Ford did tell me that they know of this problem and that the doors are not capable of being open and shut numerous times. It is a design problem according to them.

Driver's door frame is cracked, and has been that way since consumer took possession of vehicle. Dealership examined vehicle, and stated this problem was currently under investigation by Ford. Only option for a corrective action given to the consumer was replacement of door. Please provide any additional information / attachments.

Door skin has a crack coming out from under door window seal lower right hand corner approximatley 4 inches up from the bottom. Same area that is referenced in Ford TSB number 996754 sequence number 845, dated 9908. Nhtsa item number sb608461. Ford dealer says they are unaware of any problems in this area, yet in looking at their used trucks, 1997 thru 2001 all trucks have cracks in drivers door and most in passenger doors.

Both front doors are cracking also every 1997 ,1998 ,1999, Ford F-150 extended cab truck I looked at had also cracked this is going cause injury's in an accident because I know the door is designed to help cushion impact on certian types of collissions the crackes have know compromised the integrity of the doors . I am apolled at the arregance of big bussiness not standing behind thier $30000 product also at how weak your safety agency is you should protect the public 100% and make all the auto manufactures produce quality vehicles and stand behind them ,thanks chuck matthews.

Drivers side door crack starting at lower right hand side of side window running horizontal about 1" long.

Ford knows their is a problem with f150 doors cracking and has even sent out a bulletin to their dealers , because my truck was out of the warranty by 2000 miles they would not fix the problem I beleive if involved in a crash this defect will result in a failure of the door ,I think Ford should replace the doors because of an safety issue.

I noticed the paint cracking and went to the local dealership. They sent me to the warrenty paint shop, which detedted the thickness of paint. The truck has never been painted by me, the original owner. The paint shop also told me, and showed me the crack in the door. The local dealership said they could do nothing for me, but cintact the regional Ford rep. She said Ford will only pay % 20 of the $4450 cost for the paint and door. I feel this is outrageous, since I had nothing to do with the damage and poor quality. The Ford national "customer relationship" center has been notified and kept abreast of the situation. They say today that the regional rep has the final say. If this is a defect from the factory, and because I took good care of the truck so the defects didn't show up until 61,000. Why should I pay? I'd like to know what %80 I caused?.

A crack has developed in structure of driver's side door. Weld holding door together at base of window was cracking.

Driver's side door sheet metal exhibits a crack at the lower rear of the window opening near the belt molding.

When consumer closes driver's side and passenger's side doors there are stress cracks on molding. There has been more than one incident.

From 1997's to 2000's F-150 1 or 2 of their doors are cracking just above the door handles at bottom of glass on the exterior Ford motor CO. Has service bulletins dated in 1998 on my truck telling of these cracks . 2 people in my family has this problem also with their 2000's, and just about everyone I tell has the same problem , a lot of them aren't aware of it, Ford wants to pay 80%, they should pay it all.

On 97's and up the doors are cracking just above the door handles on the outside there is service bulletins on my 98 telling of these cracks just about everyone I talk to has this problem and didn't know anything about it. Ford wants to pay 80% ,I feel they should have a recall on all of them and pay it all.

Both the driver's and passanger's doors have sheet metal failure next to the lower rear corner of the window. Crack is approximately 1/2 inch long and appears to be growing. Dealer says Ford knows of this issue but is not covering it.

My truck has a crack in the outside body sheet metal near the corner of the drivers window on the door. Dealership where I bought it says nothing they can do because it is out of warranty. This crack is due to maufactures defect. I need help in bearing the cost of repair. Nhtsa item # sb608461 / service bulletin # 99-6754.

There are so many complaiets on the cracked door why is there not a recall?.

The door crack is at the base of the lower window structure. The crack will continue to increase in size further weakening the door strength. It is unknow if the door will remain intact during collision. Personal survey results : 62 vehicles examined, 52 had cracks, 2 were repaired under warranty by manufacturer.

Driver's and passenger's side doors are cracking vertically, and the upper and lower doors are detaching from panel.

I have noticed a small crack forming in the metal on the driver side door. If your facing the door form the outside, the crack is located by the lower right hand corner of the window. After doing some research I have found that this is a problem in many newer model Ford trucks.

Driver's side window, as consumer is facing door, there is a crack in door. Took vehicle to dealer, and they said it was a cracked weld. There was cracking on door and roof seams but necessay repair was done on warranty.

Cracks have developed in both the driver and passenger doors, approximately half way up and behind the windows. Each crack is approximately 1/2 inch long.

There is a crack developing in the door sheet metal at the lower rear of the belt molding. Could lead to disassembly or failure of door.
