1 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2011

The contact owns a 1999 Ford f150. The contact was attempting to park the vehicle. As the brakes were applied, the brake pedal was abnormally depressed into the floorboard. After inspecting the failure he noticed corrosion and rust on the brake line and the fuel straps. The dealer was notified of the rust and informed the contact there were no recalls and offered no further assistance. The manufacturer was also notified who offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 100,000.

2 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2011

My daughter was driving my 1999 Ford f150 truck (approx. 145,000 odometer miles) at 35 mph when one (probably the front), or both, gas tank straps broke. She dragged the tank about 300 yards before stopping. Both straps were broken by that time and the tank was on the ground with a deep dent the size of a baseball and the metal scraped clean in the front right bottom corner of the tank. In attempting to strap up the tank, the damaged portion was scraped on the ground, which opened a seam up and fuel began leaking. I had to unbolt and take out the fuel pump because I couldn't figure out how to disconnect the fuel line fittings. The fuel intake hose was snapped off. I had to clip/cut the fuel sensor wires because I couldn't unlatch the sensor wires. Another small hose came off (fuel overflow hose?) easily. I was then able to pull the tank out from under the truck and drain the leaking gasoline into a gas can and have the truck towed. A used tank was found with the original fuel pump in it to replace the damaged tank and a new gas gauge sensor attached.

3 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

The contact owns a 1999 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the fuel tank straps fractured. While the contact was performing an oil change on the vehicle, he noticed that one strap was already fractured and fractured the second strap while repairing. In addition, the contact stated that every brake line on the vehicle had to be replaced because of rust. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 105,000. The VIN was not available.

4 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2010

I was driving a 1999 Ford F-150 on the highway at 70 mph when the gas tank straps broke and the tank dragged on the highway for 5 miles before another driver noticed the dragging tank and motioned for me to pull over. The only thing holding the tank from completely falling off was the fuel lines. The tank was also leaking gas on the highway. There was no fire, but most likely there would have been if I didn't pull over. The repair shop said that it would cost about $600 to replace the damaged tank and fuel pump. The truck is not worth repairing, so it is going to the junk yard.

5 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2010

While driving my 1999 Ford F-150 the gas tank fell to the ground. The straps rusted through, and the tank was drug by the fuel line. Fortunately there was not a leak or a fire.

6 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2010

The contact owns a 1999 Ford F-150. The contact was attempting a turn and drove over a pothole when the fuel tank straps fractured. The fuel tank then detached from the vehicle and caused a full tank of gasoline fuel to spill. In addition, the fuel tank then struck and ruptured the rear brakes lines. In order to stop the vehicle, the contact had to abruptly apply the emergency brake and shift into park simultaneously. The vehicle was towed to the contacts home where it was inspected by the insurance company. The insurance company discovered that the fuel straps were corroded and was the cause of failure. The failure mileage was 139,000 and the current mileage was 141,000.

7 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2006

Started vehicle and noticed strong gasoline odor. Upon further investigation fuel return line on top of tank was ruptured and shooting a large stream of gas all under truck.
