The contact owns a 2000 Ford f150. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, the fuel tank detached from the vehicle. The contact stated that he pulled over and noticed that gasoline was leaking from a hole in the fuel tank. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the fuel tank straps were fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and stated that she should have received notification of NHTSA campaign id number: 11v385000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly:mounting). The failure mileage was 130,000.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Mounting problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2012

The contact owns a 2000 Ford F-150. The contact stated that both fuel tank straps were completely rusted. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign id number 11v385000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly: mounting) and the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer. The dealer advised the contact that the recall remedy could not be performed unless the damaged fuel lines were replaced first. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact expressed that the fuel tank replacement should have been included in the recall campaign. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 158,000.
