The contact owns a 2000 Ford f150. While driving approximately 5 mph in a parking lot, the instrument panel began to smoke. Prior to this failure, the windshield wipers automatically activated and deactivated without assistance. The contact pulled over and inspected underneath the hood. He noticed excessive smoke, but no flames were present. The fire department department was not called to the scene. The vehicle was driven to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing and they stated that the windshield wiper motor was the cause of the failure. The vehicle was previously repaired according to NHTSA campaign id number 01v258000 (visibility;windshield wiper/washer motor); however, the failure persists. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 90,300.
