1 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2004

I recently bought a 2001 Ford f150 super cab truck, and I saw that it doesn't have any head retraints in the back seats, and also found out that there have been about four complaints about this matter and nothing has been done about it,also had my truck in the dealer shop for four days for a water leak, and was given to me,paid by the dealer a Ford f150 super cab 2005 rental, until my truck was fixed, and I saw that this truck did have the back seats restraints,so I believe this is a very unsafe, not to have these restraints on these other year trucks. I hope that something can be resolve on this problem, because I have grandkids, and it could be very unsafe. And this my first time buying a Ford. Please reply to me soon. Thank you very much.

2 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2001

Headrests on rear seat are not installed. Vehicles built after dates in November 2000 were equipped with the headrests. Back seat passengers have no protection during a rear end collision. My vehicle should be retrofitted with the headrests at the manufacturers expense.

3 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2001

My Ford F-150 supercrew 4-door pickup truck does not have head restraints in the rear 60/40 split bench seat. This is a safety concern as rear seat passengers will hit their heads on the rear glass in a crash. New trucks of this model are now redesigned and have rear head restraints. Models manufactured earlier do not. When I called Ford customer service to complain of the safety concern of having no rear head restraints and to ask for the new redesigned seats, they said they would not replace the seats. They are ignoring owners with models manufactured before the newly redesigned rear seats. Ford also redesigned the front seats to now include head restraints instead of the old design of taller integrated head restraints. I believe this is also a safety concern in that I cannot adjust the front seat head restraint to properly protect me in a crash. I also wish to have new front seat captain's chairs from the newly designed model's front seats.

4 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2000

2001 Ford f150 supercrew purchased in March 2000 does not include headrests on the rear seats (60/40 split bench). Two passengers traveling in my back seat and wearing their seat belts violently struck their heads against the rear window during a sudden stop. Ford has installed rear headrests halfway through this model year. I feel a recall is warranted.

5 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2000

Truck needs rear headrests. Already caused injury upon hard braking.

6 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2000

Purchased truck new on 11/20/00. Rear seat has no head rest, which will cause some serious head injuries in an accident. Did not realize the seat had no headrest until after the purchase. Talking to other owners, I have learned that Ford motor company is now installing seats with headrest. If this was not a safety issue, why would Ford motor company redesign the rear seat at mid year. I understand that Ford is not doing anything when customers call them, had I known that they were installing a redesigned seat with headrest in the newer trucks off the assy. Line, I would have waited to make my purchase.

7 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2000

Rear passenger seats in my f150 supercrew has no head protection for my passengers. Passengers head are not protected during sudden stops or wrecks. I was forced to break suddenly to avoid an accident. My rear passengers head smacked the rear window causing one person minor head injury. I don't understand how Ford is allowed to produce such a safety hazard to its passengers. I would like Ford to provide rear seat head rests to protect rear passengers in the event of crash or sudden stop. Small pickup are required to have head rest when the riders head rest close to the rear windows. This is a 2001 truck with major defect that could pose serious injury to passengers.

8 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2000

Recently purchased this vehicle and noticed that rear passengers have no protection to stop their heads from hitting the rear window of the truck in the event of a sudden stop or collision. Had a need for a sudden stop with a passenger in the rear with this occurring. No injury occurred this time. Have noticed Ford is now equipping new vehicle with head rests. Is this a known safety hazard that needs addressing? I believe so before someone is unnecessarily injured due to an inherent design flaw that Ford apparently acknowledges by a new seat redesign.

9 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2000

The newer models have the rear head rests. Obviously, Ford recognized the problem. Only a matter of time until a fatality due to this unbelievable safety oversight. No head rests? if that's not a substantial safety risk that poses a real and present danger to the public and that deserves our government's attention, then what's the point of the NHTSA? thank you.

10 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2000

Supercrew rear seats - no headrests, safety issue as well as affecting resale value.

11 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2000

Safety issue with seats in supercrew having no headrests.

12 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2000

The early 2001 model f150 supercrew pickups came with a lack of headrest for the rear seats. I have carried passengers in the back seats and they all have expressed the concern that their heads rest against the rear window. In the case of an accident, their heads would hit the rear window and could cause serious injury. The newer model 2001 supercrew pickups have the rear head restraints in place.

13 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2000

There are no headrests for the back seats. In the event of an accident, the rear passangers could suffer major head injuries.

14 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2000

This is a new four door model Ford pickup truck with a full size rear seat. The problem is that the rear seat does not have any head rests/restraints on the back of the seat. During a fast stop or accident passengers in the back seat will strike there head on the back window causing serious injury. Ford has just changed the truck design to include head rests/restraints on its f150 supercrew but will not recall/replace all the rear seats made prior to the change. All f150 supercrews made up to approx. Oct. 2000 need this correction. Calling Ford has not helped in the matter.

15 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2000

Rear passenger seat headrests are inadequate. Rear passenger heads come in contact with rear glass. Defect corrected in late model year of vehicle.

16 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

The seats , the rear in particular , don't have head restraints. In the event of a rear end collision the rear seat occupant's head could break the rear window and strike the metal sill resulting in severe head injury. Ford has addressed this problem in the f150 supercrews built after 10/2000 but hasn't done anything for those who purchased vechicles built prior to the production change.

17 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Rear seats came without headrests, passengers in a crash would hit their heads against the rear window. Even a small child (mine is 9yrs) would hit their head against glass. I understand the newer made trucks come with headrests.

18 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Rear bench seat has no headrests. It is just a matter of time before someone is injured / killed because of this oversite. Reccomend forcing manufacturer (Ford) to retrofit older models with the seats which are currently being shipped with supercrew trucks.

19 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Ford's redesign of the backseats to now include headrests seems to point out the lack of adequate safety to rear passengers I earlier supercrew pickups.

20 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Rear seat do not have headrest and are very close to the rear window. A sudden stop will cause the rear passengers to hit there head on the rear window. I purchased my car in novermber and never was offered the option of getting a headrest option which I would have purchase.

21 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Ford has added head restraints in the middle of a model year. If they beleive there is a safety need for these they should be offered to owners who purchased vehicles in the same year.

22 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

No headrests in rear seat area. Safety issue!!!.

23 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

My Ford F-150 supercrew 4-door pickup truck does not have head restraints in the rear 60/40 split bench seat. This is a safety concern as rear seat passengers will hit their heads on the rear glass in a crash. Ford has recognized this deficiency and has re-designed both front and rear seats mid-year to provide better protection.

24 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

My Ford F-150 supercrew 4-door pickup truck does not have head restraints in the rear 60/40 split bench seat. This is a safety concern as rear seat passengers will hit their heads on the rear glass in a crash. New trucks of this model are now redesigned and have rear head restraints. Models manufactured earlier do not. I believe this is also a safety concern in that I cannot adjust the front seat head restraint to properly protect me in a crash. I also wish to have new front seat chairs from the newly designed model's front seats.

25 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Newer 2001 models now have rear seat head protection, would like to see the same safety equality.

26 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

This vehicle has a rear seat that does not have head rests to protect rear seat passengers from striking their heads on the rear window in a crash. I understand that Ford has redesigned the seat to include head rests. This is a safety issue, and I feel that Ford should consider modifying the seats of first generation 2001 supercrew models.

27 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

2001 Ford supercrew pickup trucks lack rear seat head rest/retraints. Lets fix this before we have another tire fiasco.

28 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

My Ford F-150 supercrew 4-door pickup truck does not have head restraints in the rear 60/40 split bench seat. This is a safety concern as rear seat passengers will hit their heads on the rear glass in a crash. New trucks of this model are now redesigned and have rear head restraints. Models manufactured earlier do not. Ford also redesigned the front seats to now include head restraints instead of the old design of taller integrated head restraints. I believe this is also a safety concern in that I cannot adjust the front seat head restraint to properly protect me in a crash. If this is not a safety concern, why has Ford made the change in the middle of a model year? why are they keeping quite about it? I very concerned since the reason I bought the truck was I needed a way to carry friends, family, and business associates as well as cargo. Now I have to worry that in a front or rear impact collision passengers in the back seat would most likely put their heads through the rear window.

29 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

I have a concern regarding the lack of rear passenger head restraint. In the event of a collision there are no provisions to prevent the rear passenger's head from impacting the rear glass. The manufacturer knows this is a problem as evidence in a mid year change to include head restraints for the rear passengers.

30 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Back seat does not have head rests to keep passenger head from impacting rear window and body during rear end collision.

31 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

My previous crew cab Ford pick up, a 1996 model, has rear seat head restraints. After purchasing this new Ford crew cab pick up, an 2001 model, I noticed no head restraints for rear passengers and am very concerned a family member or friend head will smash rear glass in an accident. Please help as I know the rear window is inches from rear passengers heads and if I am rear ended the rear passengers heads will be smashed into the rear window. Why has Ford not supplied rear head restraints on this truck when they did on the other? please help!.

32 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

Rear seats in the suprecrew model purchased do not have headrests. As a result any minor involvement in an accident with people in the rear seats will result in injury to passengers in those seats. Same model year trucks produced recently after mine was purchased have the headrests installed.

33 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

No rear seat headrest, rear passengers heads hit rear window.

34 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

The rear seat in my 40/60 split seat have no head restraint. A rear end crash would let the rear passengers head hit the rear window. For now puts a seat with head restraints in the new vehicles. They should recall the older 2001 supercrews and put in the new seats.

35 Front Seat Head Restraint problem

I recently purchased this vehicle and I am very concerned that rear passengers have no protection to prevent their heads from hitting the rear window of the truck in the event of a sudden stop or collision. The rear seats have no head rests and this is a full 4-door vehicle. I also have noticed that Ford is now equipping newer vehicles of the same model year with rear seat head rests. This implies that Ford apparently acknowledges that a significant safety hazard exists since they chose to redesign the rear seat within a single model year. I am very concerned about the safety of my vehicle and feel that it should be retrofitted with the new rear seat head rests at no cost.
