My truck is only 10 years old and the frame is all rotten out I think it is a very serious thing if you are driving along and it breaks.
I went to start the truck and the check engine light came on so I took it in for service and it pulled a cylinder 6 misfire code ,turns out that the spark plugs that were not supposed to be changed for another 20000mi needed to be changed and I was informed at the Ford dealer that labor would be $85. Per hr x 6 hrs providing the plugs did not break at this time he told me I could count on at least half of them breaking as they are notorious for this also I was informed that the new plugs were $19. 50 ea.
To begin with I had to have all 4 windows repaired. The mechanism that raises and lowers the windows broke. Since this was bought as a used vehicle, there was no warranty. So I pd. $150. To $175. 00 each. Was told Ford knew of this problem but since it wasn't a "safety factor" no recall was issued. I feel like this is quite unfair to the consumer. We purchase a vehicle that has a good reputation and then are told that this expense is our baby to take care of. I feel like this was very unfair to this consumer. I have purchased Fords for years with no complaints until now. Also, the headlights developed a leak and filled with water thus shorting out my right headlight, and is slowly doing the same to the left one. I have been told that just the burned out bulbs cannot be replaced, that the whole assembly had to be replaced and this is at a cost of approx. $175 to $200. Per assembly. This is outrageous. Also, there is a problem with what used to be "points & plugs" which are now a "coil" assembly. This problem developed approx. 6 months ago. According to the readouts I have gotten, the #1 plug is misfiring approx. Every ,1000 revolutions which causes a miss in the engine and was very alarming to me since I was on the highway about 200-250 miles from home, traveling by myself. So, another expense is looming. I realize there are expenses to owning a vehicle. I do not expect to not have any problems or repairs with my vehicle, but I did not anticipate this many. Nor did I expect the cost of the repair parts alone to be so outrageous. I am on a fixed income and had I anticipated these problems I wouldn't have made this purchase. I truly love my truck, but is there anyway these other repairs can be done for a lesser amt? I've already pd. To replace motor &rotors in all 4 windows. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Martha greenwell.
On my 2004 Ford f150 XLT lariat supercab, the passenger rear window regulator has now failed. The driver's one went first (within three years of ownership), then the front passenger one (a few months later) then the rear passenger one ( about a year after the first) and now this. All four regulators have had to be replaced from the original factory installed ones. This latest one occurred while the truck sat parked in the driveway unoccupied; all the others happened on the roadway while the vehicle was in motion.
I was doing a day trip hauling horses by myself when I was getting ready to head home when I heard this terrible noise and soon watched the rear right window disappear and would not go back up. I took it into Ford today and was told it would cost $300 to fix but they did not have in stock and that it was the regulator that went out. I had them check the right front window as well as it would go down but would not go up using that door window switch and that the switch needs replaced and that would be $130 dollars and again part was not in stock so could not replace. So when I went in to get my truck all of a sudden I find out that other than the oil change which I expected my bill just for them to look at and oil change was over $190. 00 and my windows were not fixed yet and not told ahead of time what the charge might be so the extra $150 was totally not budgets. But had to pay as I needed my truck to get home. I also found out that my brother in laws truck also a 2004 had a VIN number set that Ford did replace the regulator but not for my VIN number. Now that really upset us a lot especially finding out others have had the same problem and that we could have issues with the other three windows. Ford really needs to recalled all 2004 f150 door regulators before someone really gets hurt as it is a safety issue if glass was to break if it had happened while in route. Plus was not covered by my extended warranty so evidently the warranty companies are aware of the problem if they exclude it.
I started up my truck in my driveway and began to lower the driver and passenger side windows when the driverside window just fell down.
I leave my windows up on the truck. It is cold (winter time) truck was in the garage. I went to the garage and the window on the passenger side was down. I cranked the truck, pushed the button and the window would not come up. I took the truck to the dealer they said the front door window regulator had to be replaced. This cost $344. 66 to replace the regulator. Since the first replacement, the two back windows have done the same thing. I assume if my truck is having this problem others are also. This appears to be a defect and the company should pay for the repairs.
2004 Ford f150 lariat window regulators failing. I have had two window regulators fail while driving my truck which causes the window to drop unexpectedly into the door cavity which causes alarm to the driver possibly contributing to loss of control of the vehicle. Ford is aware of this condition and refuses to correct the issue. It is a serious safety risk. The windows were not being operated at the time of failure. They just dropped leaving the window open at 75 mph on the highway.
I want to add my name to the ranks of Ford f150 owners who had the nightmarish experience of simply needing spark plugs changed. Unaware that there was a problem with this sparkplug design, I asked my mechanic to do a simple tune up. Two sparkplugs broke and he is still researching how to proceed without incurring the most expense. Rord tells us about inexpensive recall items, is it because this is expensive that they have not issued recall on this design flaw?.
I have had my 2004 f150 XLT supercrew for a year now and the power window regulator in all 4 windows have broken during that short period of time. The most recent failure happened on the front passenger window last night. Searching the internet shows that this is a well known issue with these vehicles, but Ford will not issue a recall.
Complete engine failure less than 100,000 miles. Driver and front passenger window motor failure.
Door windows do not operate up or down when pressing rocker switch - 2nd time for repair of problem.
I own a 2004 F-150 crew cab Ford truck. I have had to replace 3 of the 4 window regulators in this vehicle. Each one has broken at different times. The Ford dealerships replaced them at a cost of almost a thousand dollars for all three. The driver side window regulator is the only one so far not to break. Currently it is making a grinding sound. All three have broken within the past twelve months. This is a great expense to me as well as a great danger. While driving down the road one window regulator broke and the window fell inot the bottom of the door. One broke while the vehicle was not moving and the other one broke while I was raising the window up from being down. I have contacted the Ford dealership about the problem. The service department admitts that there needs to be a recall due to their being a wide scale problem with the window regulators breaking. At the same time Ford refuses to issue a recall on the problem. Ford motor company should be forced to issue a recall on the window regulators and be forced to reimburse owners of the expenses for having to replace the window regulators. Once again, I have spent almost a thousand dollars to replace three window regulators. And the last window appears to be malfunctioning now.
2004 Ford f150 bought new. Rear window (over back seat) motor/regulator broken over a year ago, fortunately with window closed. Ford says that it will cost close to $500 to replace motor. Yesterday, 5/21/2011, right rear window regulator broke. Window will not stay up. From what I see, this has happened to hundreds if not thousands of people yet Ford will not address it as a recall item. Can't the NHTSA put pressure on Ford or the government to force Ford to fix these when they break? it is definitely a safety issue! Ford bought defective window motors/regulators and are leaving their customers to contend with them alone. Why can't they admit to a problem?.
2004 Ford f150 supercrew. For the 5th time one of the windows has dropped into the door due to the regulator malfunctioning. The first 3 times were covered by the extended warranty I purchased. However, this will be the second one I will have to pay for. Each time, all Ford does is rplace the regulator and tell me I must have gotten a bad one. This is 5 windows in 5 years.
2004 f150 3 window regulators have failed. One was repaired by Ford7/09 two have failed in the last week the window just drops down in the door, it can not have failed from wear and tear because the windows are never used.
2004 Ford f15, unit 1 was eastbound in far right lane of the ohio turnpike. The ball of trailer hitch became disengaged from power unit. Unit 1 trailer separated from the power unit and traveled onto inside berm, striking barrier wall, causing car a top trailer to slide forward off of trailer. (ohio traffic crash report # 10-0072-90) updated 04/22/11.
Driver side window fell down after I tried to roll it up, a few weeks later the back passenger window fell down by its self.
Rear window fell causing air to rush in could not raise rear window, 1 year old child in baby seat in backseat. Could have been catastrophic. No warning no way to raise window. Read numerous instances of this same event happening to thousnads of others with same model year and manufacturer.
Vibration at highway speeds.
3 window motors in my 2004 Ford f150 crew cab were defective. Probably 4 only 21,009 miles.
Window regulators keep breaking on my 04 Ford F-150. Third window to fall down, this one during a snow storm.
Ford f150 window regulator failure.
Ford f150 crew cab. At 45,000 miles the f/drivers side window regulator failed. Replaced under warranty. At 76,000 miles f/passenger side window regulator failed. Replaced out of warranty. At 95,000 miles r/passenger window regulator has failed. Has not been to the dealer for the latest failure. I do not know what the cost will be or when the r/ drivers side will fail. Neither of the rear windows have been used more than 50 times during my ownership of the vehicle, which I bought new. It seems to me that from what I have read from others and my own problems that there is a defect that Ford should be responsible for. It appears they are unwilling to face up to their responsibility.
Truck died, lost all power while driving down the road. This has happened 5 - 6 times through the years starting around 2010. Sometimes driving down freeway sometimes driving slowly into driveway. Battery was checked, it was okay and connected fine. Various other engine problems later include a rattle noise and low rpm. Running hot, chugging along like running out of gas, etc. Having to pull over till it could go again. Currently just a little over 100,000 miles.
The window regulators failed on 3 of the 4 windows on our 2004 Ford f150 truck causing the windows to fall abruptly and drop down into the door panels. The windows no longer stay up at all and there is no way to prop them up internally. The windows now leak when it rains. You cannot go over a pothole, bump or even go the speed limit on the highway without the windows falling down again.
I have a 2004 Ford f150 super crew and have had 3 window regulator go out 2 of them less then a month apart and one of them happened on the highway and im not the only one there are a lot of f150 owner that this has happened to the dealer is making a fortune off of there defective parts charging up to 400 plus part to fix a problem that should be concerned a safety issue because of the loud noise it makes when the window out of no ware fall in to the door.
Two broken window regulators within approximately two weeks. I attempted to roll down windows and I heard a noise and window just dropped down into the door. No broken glass, but very uncomfortable with young kids and you're away from home in cold weather.
I have a 2004 Ford f150 truck with only about 60,000 miles on it. My passenger window just slid down as I was driving! did not push any buttons! of course I then tried to roll the window up but it wouldn't work. Now my window is left wide open while I have to wait to get it fixed! I had it checked out and its the regulator that needs replaced. I've already had to replace my rear passenger side regulator but I didn't realize then that it was a defect in the part! I'm still trying to get it fixed.
2004 f150 supercrew lariat drivers side rear window dropped down ,cable failure . This happened while driving with people in the vehicle .
Window registers in 3 out of 4 windows have failed on 2004 f150 Ford truck with only 28,500 miles on vehicle.
We purchased our 2004 f150 in sept/oct of '04. Shortly after our mileage warranty expired (36,000) miles our window assembly regulator broke and we had to pay over $400 for it to be repaired. A short time later our second window assembly regulator broke and they only asked us to pay 20% of the repair bill equaling $55. 9 months later our third window regulator assembly broke. When these windows regulators break it is during random times and while driving. No one is rolling the windows down they just all of a sudden fall down. We were driving on the freeway at 65 mph and I had my 12 month old daughter sitting next to the window that broke and she had her hand on the door next to the window. She only had a small red mark on her finger however she was crying hysterically because it scared her. While looking online I have found thousands of other complaints about the window regulators breaking on these trucks. When we called to get the truck repaired the had the part in stock and within us making a decision of when to bring the truck in an hour and a half later the part was already used. The repair tech said that it is their most common problem. I feel that this is a major safety issue. If my daughters hand had been any closer it would have been severely pinched. What if the window were to shatter while going down on the freeway at those speeds? Ford is unwilling to repair our fourth window and we fear it is just a matter of time before it breaks as well.
My drivers side window just fell open while driving and would not go back up. After investigating the power window unit had broken. 7 days later the same thing happened to the rear passenger window. The dealer told me this is common and is a defect but Ford refuses to recall them. The dealer said it will most likely happen to your other 2 windows as well! $400 each to repair.
2004 Ford F-150 trailer hitch broke. Consumer states that when the trailer hitch broke he lost control and went off the right side of the road. Ohio traffic crash report # 10-0344-91. Updated 05/26/08. Consumer sent in addition voq complaint. 06/25/08.
The brake system uses plastic "o" rings, instead of metal, in the brake calipers. Upon cool over time the "o" ring warps. Meaning every time I use my brakes, I'm damaging my brake system.
