Customer states that the frame of the vehicle has been compromised by corrosion. The vehicle only has 163,844 miles on it and it has major holes in the frame. The chassis could break in half prohibiting the use of this vehicle on the roadway due to the safety of occupants. I advised the customer of this of which they bought a frame repair kit (pre-cut over frame c-channel steel) to weld onto the frame to support a longer lifespan. The truck is now safe for the roadway.
While changing the spark plugs 7 of the eight broke off in the engine block, the threaded section came out but the ceramic bottom portion is what broke. I find that this is somewhat common because auto zone rents a spark plug extractor specifically for this. My safety isn’t at risk. Problem not reported to a dealership yet. No inspection yet. The check engine light was on.
The dmv has a extended warranty coverage on the fuel injectors . . Coming up a recall at dmv. What do I do.
Frame of truck is rotted around leaf spring areas and under cab of truck as well as bed rails.
This truck is virtua;;y rust free on body. The frame however is rusted through near the gas tank. I have seen other people with this issue. Mechanic had to take it off lift, because it was so weak. Could just break while driving.
Chassis is rotted out and cannot even be put on a lift. Took my truck to be inspected and the found the chassis rotted and advised not to put on lift.
I have put 3 transmission in and only last about 4-5 yrs the wrench light comes on and it lost power.
Main frame rot left rear rusting right front starting.
Truck will not pass inspection due to frame rust on both sides of the truck.
Have owned this truck bought new, 2005. Have used sparingly only 15k + miles. Over the years I have experianced a number of occasions when it tried to accellerate when I went to brake. First thought it a quirk or floor mats. Recently nearly trashed a parked car while backing ito a parking space. Continued to accellerate dispite standing on brake. There is no longer any doubt that this is a problem with sua, sudden unintended accelleration, that Ford has never admitted. I have made sure I am off the gas pedal and the floor mat has been removed. This happens when the vehicle is moving and when trying to brake!.
Engine knocking noise.
The rear differential had to be replaced( at a Ford dealership ). The reason for replacement was the shaft that goes from the wheel into the differential had adjustment issues when making normal turns( this occurred when driving slowly also more noticeable with quick turns and when exiting on the highway around the curve ,making the rear end jump on turns. When driving in a straight line there was no issue problems. Since replacement the same issues still have recurred. My concern is there may be an issue with the Ford rear end differential and axial parts both original and replacement parts that may make the vehicle have safety issues particularly in turns causing jumping of the rear end.
Cpsc;2005 Ford F-150 tranmission and motor went out at 89446 miles. A diagnostic was performed.
My f150 frame is rusted through where it actually broke I work as a welder and I have fixed 3 diffrant trucks f150 around the same year it is mostly on drivers side.
Spark plugs are impossible to be removed/replaced. Went to mechanic to be removed/replaced and was extremely expensive. Must be some defect on Ford's part.
When trying to stop the vehicle it suddenly accelerated for some unknown reason. This has happened on several occasions and on one of those occasions when pulling into a parking spot it resulted in damage to the truck.
Truck frame rusted through to the point it is unsafe to drive and will not pass state inspection. The frame rust is excessive after taking great care of the truck.
My 2005 f150 XLT frame is rusted through on the driver,s side of the truck. I purchased it in December of 2005 so it has not seen ten years of service yet. It will not pass vermont state inspection which means I will no longer be able to drive it on public roads due to safety reasons. The body is in very good condition and the truck has less than 41,000 miles on it. I have until the end of August, 2005 to get the truck fixed so it will pass inspection. I do not want to drive it because of this safety issue. The frame which supports all other components of the truck needs to and should definitely last much longer than ten years. Will there be a recall on these trucks to repair/replace the frames soon? it will be very expensive to have it repaired locally.
On the morning of March 5th 2015 I started my truck to warm the inside and also melt the snow off my windshield. I got in the truck and backed out away from house. Due to having snow on the driveway I turned on the 4 wheel drive in high. My four wheel drive would not work so I tried to swicth to 2 wheel drive back to four wheel drive but the 4 wheel drive would not turn on. I grabbed the gear shift to put the truck back in park when I noticed my gear shift could float to park to 1st gear freely and would not shift. At this time I noticed smoke starting to come inside cab from under dash and thru the vents. I jumped out and opened the hood. A 1 foot section of a wiring harnes mounted to the firewall had caught fire. I made attempts to put out the fire but within a few seconds the engine compartment was engulfed. In 2 to 3 minutes the entire inside of the cab was also completely on fire. My wife who was watching me immediatly called 911 to get the fire department. After 3 minutes the truck was already a total lose. Due to the truck being only 60' from my house and burning so hot I was concerned about my house catching fire. Two gentleman from the rescue squad arrived but it was too late for anything to be done. I was able to get a backhoe and put the fire out with snow. Unfortunately I had liability insurance only which meant a total lose. I never dreamed that the truck would burn up sitting in my driveway!!!! I know there have been some recalls for f150 due to fire hazards with the cruise control for other year model close to 2005. A vehicle catching fire while its sitting in a driveway running is totally unacceptable. The truck was in excellent shape and had no after market parts or work performed. I have no ideal why the wiring harness caught fire.
I took my truck in for a repair and when they lifted it they found holes in the frame of the truck. I have been informed that it may fail within two years. This truck is around 10 years old and has been parked in a driveway for the first half of its life and up till last year has been garage kept. There is 57,805 miles on it talked to multiple mechanics and none of them can believe that there is any logical reason for such a fast rot out.
I just wanted to add my vehicle to the list of complaints about the differential. Mine makes noise and has made noise for quite some time. I thought it might be the tires or rotors. I found out that it was coming directly from the rear differential. Based on the complaints I have heard, I am pretty sure this is the same thing. The noise sounds like metal running on metal. I believe this should be something Ford should pay to fix. If I have to pay for it, I'm definitely not using Ford. I read that's many people have the same complaints. This failure is security public problems, because accidental or crash may occur.
Bought a 2005 f150 triton v8 5. 4l new in 2005. I have now experienced a cam phase problem which will cost appx 2500 to repair. Talking to my mechanic he said that it was no promise to fix the issue , because theese motors are known for this issue. Was told it would be easier to put another motor in so I wouldn't haft to worry about ,if it would fix the problem. My brother has a 2008 Ford with the same motor and had the same problem ,but his motor after having the cam phaser's replaced blew up and had to replace the motor. After reserching and talking to several ase qualified mechanics they all said that theres an issue with the 5. 4 liter triton motor. Upon calling Ford motor company as I well figured would happen they said that they would'nt help with the cost and that there was nor recall. Consumers should be able to get more than 100,000 miles out of a vehicle they buy. If Ford wants to keep customers happy they should adress theproblem and the goverment should be mor vigalant in assuring the consumer is protected from companies whose produt dosen;t meet standards. I would like to see the goverment to look at all complaints through a survey on this motor to find a solution for the consumer.
Had to replace spark plugs on 2005 Ford f150. Caused mechanical problems. I got them replaced at Ford dealership in rice lake wisconsin.
About a year ago I was driving my F-150 pickup truck down street maybe 45 m. P. H when out of nowhere the driver side window made a loud noise and fell down into the door . Ended up that the window regulator had broken . Then yesterday I was driving about 50 m. P. H and my back window was open about 2 inches I pushed the button to make it go up , it made a loud grinding noise and fell into the door also.
I bought a 2005 Ford f 150 used not knowing about the engine and rear end problems until I heard the raddle coming from under the hood so I go ask dealer about this problem he said this type engine was from Ford was not good lucky for me they were repairing one it had blown a spark plug out and they were replace parts for the cam he said get rid of the truck or run it till it blows up it has no power it stalls in the most bad places I am afraid I am going to have a wreck and hurt some one Ford needs to recall these engine and fix the rear end problem also I don't have 5 to 8 grand to fix it.
When I pulled out of parking lot at approx. 5 mph I heard a very loud noise in the rear of the truck. Sounded like something hit my vehicles back door. When I looked back all looked normal. A few minutes later I heard air blowing. Like a window was down. Rear window had started to slowly slide down. Mechanic informed me the window regulator had failed. 203. 00 just for the part !!!! and he said more will break too. Nice job Ford.
When driving down the road a 35 mph my driver side window made a loud pop sound and the window fell down into the door. I had to buy a whole new window regulator assembly. I have seen this to be a problem on this site and many other online forums. There must be a defect with the regulators. Mine was so bad that the cable actually frayed and snapped. This is a safety hazard that should be addressed.
Rear passenger window regulator stopped working and window fell into door. Had my wife done this while driving she would have been scared by the loud popping noise and potentially crashed into object injuring herself and or others. This is a common problem and Ford needs to recall the trucks with the plastic parts and faulty mechanism. Search the web and there are hundreds of vehicles with the same issue . Years 2004-2006. Ford needs to recall!.
We had just left our house and the driver side window fell down into the door and would not come back up. I looked on the internet and youtube to find out this has happened to 100's of the f150's. This is very dangerous because evidently it can happen to any of the windows on the truck. One of my grandchildren could have been riding with us and possible fall out a window. I understand there is no recall for this. I emailed Ford about this but it stated the might not even acknowledge it.
On August 3, 2012 the passenger window dropped and the regulator assembly had to be replaced. Yesterday, March 2, 2013 the driver side window would not go up. The regulator with motor had to be replaced. I think Ford needs to recall their vehicles, and replace their defective parts.
Front passenger window fell to bottom of door.
We have had 3 actuators on our windows in our Ford F-150 go out while driving on the highway. We almost had a very bad accident when the last one "exploded". It sounds like someone has shot the windshield when it happens and it is very hard to concentrate on driving and not swerve into another car or go off the road. I have talked to many people that have had the same problem with their Ford vehicles. This is very dangerous and could cause a fatal accident. We did go off the road when the first one broke, and if we had been on a highway with another car beside us, we would have hit it.
My Ford F-150, 2005 model has a wheel bearing defect that causes bearing failure and break wobble due to the weak bearings that's on 2004-2009 Ford F-150- 2wd trucks. The bearings can't be changed unless you purchase the entire installation (rotors, abs hub bearing and one-time use nut. ) Ford knows that the bearings are weak but will not authorize a repair unless you use original equipment. Ford put out a bulletin to use 4x4 parts on the 2wd vehicle. The 4x4 parts includes 3 pieces which included a more durable and harder bearing than what comes on the 2wd. There is only one place in texas that will due this repair (just brakes. ) the repair is 300. 00 per side but is a permanent fix for the weak bearings. Also each part can be change individually. Ford will sell you the parts but they will not make this repair to your vehicle. The bearings have a constant humming noise and the biggest mistake that is made is that. The nut is not change when the breaks are bearings are replaced. By not changing the nut the torque value can't be reached again. I had this repair done at just brakes and my truck hasn't riden this well in 2 yrs. Ford needs to be requested to reimburse all owners that have had this problem. It is a very dangerous matter.
Original flywheel broken. Told will cost $1k to $1,4k to replace that and starter b/c flywheel 'probably' damaged starter. Truck won't start sometimes, and grinds when I try to start it. Was stranded 2 times and had to be towed.
The window regulator linkage continually break. First incident was the driver's side door, and on 7/14/14, the right rear door. By the number of complaints on the web, it is obvious these regulators have a manufacture defect that causes premature failure. The only window fall into the door when the device is operated.
