Passenger window in my 2005 Ford F-150 fell inside the door creating a loud bang while driving. Caused me to jump and pull steering wheel to one side nearly causing an accident. Investigation led to a broken plastic clip in the door that released the cable that holds the window in the up (or down position). I have seen numerous complaints about this event. Ford has not recalled the problem as of this date.
Easy access into Ford trucks having plastic door handles and back plates. While the break in is not a direct safety issue, it could potentially be. It takes up valuable police resources investigating these crimes, which may be needed elsewhere. The thief has the potential to remove insurance cards, registrations, etc. Containing personal information that are generally stored in glove boxes. There should be a reasonable amount of security that one can expect while in or away from a vehicle. The door handle and back plate design are faulty and allow for easy, rapid entry into the vehicle.
Driving around with windows down in my 2005 Ford F-150 supercrew when I tried to roll up the front passenger window I heard an extremely loud bang that made me think that I had been hit by another vehicle. Took the door panel apart and found the power window regulator cable was mangled and it had broken free from one of the window slides. When I tried to find the parts online I came across a forum on complaints. Com. Apparently hundreds of people are having the same problem, with the same loud pop or bang which is very startling and could potentially cause an accident. Several of the people wrote that they have had this same problem with more than one door and even several times with each door. Local Ford dealership told me it is because of the heat in las vegas and they keep lots of them in stock because it is a very common failure. I think it is more than the heat though because people all over the country are reporting the same problem.
Window controller fails with a loud banging noise. The noise is so distracting that it causes a possible accident situation. I was pulling a trailer at the time and the swerving caused fish tailing. There are thousands of documented failures of the Ford window controller in 2005 vehicles and Ford won't recall without NHTSA requiring it.
