1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/22/2021

Started to drive my vehicle but it is stuck in park.

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2019

The abs control module has gone out therefore there isn’t any all wheel braking control for the vehicle. I know of my vehicle and several more that have this same problem. They range from 2007 up to 2012. With this problem also they will not pass state emissions inspection. I just inherited my vehicle. I was the owner of a repair shop and had several pickups with this very problem. This repair cost from Ford is over $1,000. 00. This seems to be a recurring failure with the brake system.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2018

Takata recall inflators have been removed. Instrument panel displays tire inflation warning always. The main safety issue I see with this vehicle is the brake and accelerator pedals are to close to each other and are not adjustable. The issue comes about when depressing brake to shift from park to drive or reverse. I am aware of this and it still happens sometimes. Sometimes the motor revs but vehicle will stay stationary. Sometimes there's more pressure on accelerator than brake pedal and the vehicle will lurch forward or backward. This being an xl model, its not equipped with adjustable pedals which may solve problem but am uncertain of that. It seems to be ideal vehicle except for these to issues.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2016

Put truck in reverse, it sped up and brakes did not work. Stopped by backing into a tree, then drove fine. Three days later came to an intersection and was unable to stop. Hit another vehicle in the intersection.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2014

Vehicle has stopped running going down the road several times. It does this unexpectedly, and I let it coast to the shoulder and it cranks up. I drove it to the local dealer, and they could not find a problem. It now sits in my driveway, because it is unsafe to drive it in traffic. I never intend to buy another Ford.

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2014

The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle skidded across the road into a ditch when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle then flipped over upside down. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact injured her right leg and received medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to the contact¿s residence. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2013

The vehicle gear shift can be moved at anytime without depressing the brake or the release button both when driving at 60 mph or the vehicle is parked in my yard. Easily a child can move the vehicle into gear and start it rolling or bring it to a dead stop while driving on the highway by just bumping into it. I contacted Ford and they were unwilling to help with this obvious safety issue. Which will now cost me over $800. 00 to fix. This amount seems excessive and I fear will keep many people who experience this dangerous problem from fixing it because the vehicle otherwise performs fine. I have contacted salvage companies who have stated that their price on this part is what it is because they can sell these parts all day indicating that this is a common problem. Ford will not recognize the defect in the vehicle. How long should a shifter lever last? I'm 48 yrs old, I have owned many vehicles some with many more miles than this one and I have never had an issue with this part. Hopefully you can persuade the Ford motor company to do the right thing and stand behind their products and institute a recall for this part.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2013

The front brake rotors warped for the second time. The first time was at approximately 49k miles. Thirty-three thousand miles later they are warped again. The first time they had to be completely replaced. They were warped too bad to machine them. This time, the right front rotor had to be turned four times by the dealership to get the warping out. The others only one turn. There seems to be a design flaw in the braking system for multiple years of Ford F-150 trucks. The system was completely redesigned for model year 2009 and the problem seems to be gone. Unfortunately, I believe the design is also connected with the brake pedal and accelerator pedal problem reported also to the NHTSA for this year (2007) model F-150. Unfortunately, because it is classified as a braking problem, the warranties (factory and extended) do not cover the expense of machining or replacing the rotors. This can be several hundred dollars expense to the vehicle owner when it appears to be a design problem that should be handled by the factory thru a recall. Fortunately, my dealership has worked with me so far to help handle the expense. For customer satisfaction reasons, they did not charge me this last time as they realize rotors, under normal driving, should not have to be replaced or machined within 30k miles, especially when there is hardly any brake pad wear.

9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2011

The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. The contact stated the front drivers side brakes locked, and the vehicle came to a slow stop. A local mechanic diagnosed that a new hose was needed to repair the failure. The dealer was notified, but denied assistance with the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 22,000 and the current mileage was 22,397.

10 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2010

I returned my Ford F-150 to the dealership for the third time to correct the problem with the brake pedal traveling past the accelerator pedal during normal braking. Ford is not recognizing the problem and the dealership sales manager acknowledges he has replicated the problem intermittently; however, because Ford refuses to acknowledge the problem there is nothing they can do. I have seen this problem reported in other cases on the NHTSA website, and I believe it is time for NHTSA to investigate before deaths are reported from braking/accelerating through stop signs/lights and hitting or being hit by someone. I believe the problem is somehow also related to the front brake rotors warping within a short period of time (20k - 30k miles).

11 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2010

When applying the brake, the pedal travels below the accelerator causing the foot to press on the brake and accelerator at the same time. On multiple occasions, I have run through stop lights/signs trying to come to a stop, and on occasion have almost hit other vehicles. Another time, I was behind the truck guiding someone in the truck while backing up. Not being familiar with the truck, when the brake pedal travelled pase the accelerator, his foot caused both to be depressed at the same time almost running over me before jumping out of the way just in time. This continues to happen and related to the problem I believe is the front rotors keep warping. The rotors were replaced at this incident time because the Ford dealership thought that might be the issue. It did not correct the issue and they only charged my half-price.

12 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2010

Accelerates while depressing the brake, went to stop and truck accelerated, do to the fact the brake pedal is to close to the gas pedal, has happened numerous times, incidents, 1 almost drove into an intersection, 2 almost ran over a pedestrian stopping to let them cross the road, 3 almost rear ended another car, these problems have all happened numerous times, eventually someone is going to die because of this problem.

13 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2010

While driving on state highway, applied brake, brake pedal went slowly to the floor, and vehicle did not slow, continued on helpless, until striking a vehicle in front of me. Called dealer where vehicle was purchased, they said they were not aware of any brake problems with this model. Called Ford direct, and they said they were not aware of any brake problems with this model. Insurance adjuster will be here today, I will not let anyone touch this vehicle until this problem is resolved, I have not slept for days, not because of my injuries, but the haunting thoughts of knowing I could have killed someone.

14 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

2007 Ford f150 has a problem with the placement of its gas and brake pedal. When braking you accidentally hit both pedals which causes you to accelerate. I just purchased this truck and noticed this issue. My brother also noticed this. If I lend my truck out I make sure I inform the person about this problem. When searching the web many other sites are addressing this safety issue of acceleration when braking. I wonder what your agency is doing regarding this safety problem? the public is aware of it so much so they are posting about it. Ford knows about this, customers have complained. So when is your agency going to acknowledge and address this safety issue?.

15 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2009

I have a 2007 Ford, f150 extended cab, the brake rotor have warped. This could be a safety problem if this a regular occurrence with this model. The shop which I carried my vehicle to told me that if the company used certain brands of rotors that were made in foreign countries won't stand up to heat. If Ford used these products on the assembly line because they're cheaper, something should be done.

16 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2009

At 12000 miles the rotors are completely warping. It's especially noticeable when driving at speeds of over 50 mph. I can see and feel the bed bouncing and can feel it in the steering wheel. Dealer will do nothing under warranty. They said they would look at them but would have to charge me. I also spoke with Ford directly, they will also offer no assistance. I've heard of this situation happening many times and Ford will do nothing to correct it.

17 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2009

Have experienced extensive brake dust on the front wheels almost from day 1. Lately, at about 28,000 miles the front end wobbles and shimmies when braking. Not so bad at lower speeds but really bad if you have to brake fairly hard while on an interstate highway from speeds of 65 mph or more. Had tires rotated and balanced which helped a bit but problem still exists.

18 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2009

Driver's side wheel rotor and ball bearings, rotor started making noise of a grinding April 2009 we replaced the rotor and 2 months later the noise started up again, we then replaced it again. The rotor every 2 months will be completely ate up and broken down. This last time we replaced rotor on the drivers side the left front and again 2 months later had to do it again in Dec. 2010. It is now Feb 2011 and the rotor is again making the noise and now the wheel is shaking and we are getting a knocking noise on the drivers side front floor board.

19 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2009

Brakes are spongy and bleed down, repeated short braking between stoplights pedal went to the stop, took it to dealership, mech. Checked it said it was normal, other f150 owners say not like their brakes. Hard braking last week pedal went to stop almost resulting in rearend collision. There have been 3 instances brakes have went to the stop near the floorboard braking from speed. Doesn't happen every time.

20 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2008

Multiple incidents: when vehicle speed drops to 10mph or less when braking, brake pedal fades to floor and engine accelerates with subsequent loss of braking power. The last incident nearly resulted in an accident, the first 3 incidents resulted in "rolling through an intersection". Vehicle mileage when first noted approximately 14k, now nearly 16k.

21 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2008

The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. While applying pressure to the brake pedal, the vehicle accelerated dramatically and a loud revving noise was heard. There were no warning lights illuminated prior to the failure. The contact must apply excessive pressure to the brake pedal in order to completely stop the vehicle. When this occurs, the wheels begin to spin. The dealer replaced the accelerator pedal, but the failure recurred immediately afterwards. The failure mileage was 33 and current mileage was 3,146.

22 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2008

The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. The contact stated that when driving at speeds of at least 65 mph, the steering wheel would vibrate when depressing the brake pedal. The brake pedal would also vibrate the longer pressure was applied to the pedal. The dealer replaced the rotors, stating that they were warped also caused the failure. The repair did not correct the failure. The failure mileage was 9,000 and the current mileage was 29,000.

23 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. While driving 35 mph, the contact applied the brakes and the vehicle continued moving. His vehicle rear ended another vehicle. The contact sustained injuries to his left knee and head. The passenger sustained a shoulder injury. A police report was filed. The current and failure mileages were 8,000.
