I bought a used Ford 2007 F-150 super crew cab 4x4. New tires were put on by the dealer. I have had three separate incidents of the tire valve stems breaking and causing deflation while in movement. After two breaking I went to the dealer and complained. I was told they had no reason or complaints of this occurring. While traveling out of state I had a third stem break. Each time I had new stems replaced. I began researching for myself and found an article which stated that Ford had complaints of defective valve stems on almost all their vehicles including Mercury's. After two attempts and complaints to my dealer I went to a local tire distributor and they recommended replacing all rubber valve stems with brass high pressure valve stems. After doing this I have not had a problem. The cost for rubber stems are around $1. 50 each and I paid $6. 00 each for the good stems. This is a small price to pay for you and your family's safety. My dealer still hasn't contacted me with a suggestion as to correcting the problem. First incident was around April 5, 2010 and second incident August 24, 2010 and third was October 18,2010.
Bought new in 2007 Ford F-150 pickup truck all original equipment and owner only 19,000 miles on original tires. Blew out during normal dry driving conditions pulling a empty 16 ft trailer. If it hadn't been that it was the rear passenger side tire and late at night on a divided highway would have had a wreck. Truck went all over the road due to the blow out. Valve stem completely gone. These tires were the original hankook 17 inch tires that were sold with this truck and the truck only had 19k miles the whole side of the tire blew the tread is still there side of tire in shreds and no valve stem at all just an empty hole where it should be. If this had of been a steering tire could have possibly lost control. I still have 3 more of these tires on the truck; is there a recall on the stems or tires for these trucks what should I do? I currently have the spare on the truck will this happen to it? do the tires need replacing? they still have plenty of tread but are they defective/safe? will or shouldn't the truck warranty cover this?.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 35 mph, the drivers side rear tire became flat. The contact replaced the tire and continued to his destination. The dealer inspected the vehicle and determined that the valve stem caused the tire failure. The dealer replaced the valve stem on the tire that failed and checked the other tires. The vehicle is currently being repaired. The manufacturer advised him that the vehicle is under warranty; however, they will only replace defective parts but not parts. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 16,000.
Failure of tire valve stem resulting in a rapid flat tire.
2007 Ford f150 valve stem broke and caused a blowout on the highway. After recovering from being driven off the road, I noticed that my three other tires had cracked valve stems as well. Ford needs to issue an immediate recall and deal with this hazard before someone gets killed or seriously injured.
Valve stems on 2007 f 150 bad valve stems on truck Ford sent out a notice on them after losing 1 tire and spinning 3 other valves every week after Ford would not stand buy the notice on the repairs.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 68 mph, the front driver's side tire rapidly lost tire pressure. As the contact was changing the tire, he noticed that the valve stem was cracked. The tire was replaced and he is in the process of notifying the manufacturer. He still has possession of the failed component. The equipment and tire information was unknown. The failure and current mileages were 26,183.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford F-150. While driving 30 mph, the contact noticed that the front passenger side tire was losing air. She took the vehicle to a repair shop and the mechanic stated that they could not repair the tire. The valve stem had a sensor, but it was cracked. She took the vehicle to the dealer and they repaired the tire and replaced the valve stem; however, they would not replace the remaining stems. A report was filed with the manufacturer and they stated that the stems were not damaged; therefore, the dealer did not need to be replace the stems. The valve stem information was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 25,000.
Tire valve stem failure on my 2007 Ford f150. I've received Ford's safety notice 5 months after one of my tire valve stems have failed. Their notice gave no indication that they intend to replace the defective valve stems. Their remedy as outlined for correction of the problem by monthly inspection of valve stem is far from corrective or preventive. I had very recently checked tire pressure, and inspected tires, valve stems, and lug nut torque prior to a long trip when my valve stem failed. Fortunately their was not an accident related to this failure. However, if there have been other accidents related to this problem: you may contact me for any litigation testimony.
Front left tire deflated rapidly while traveling on an interstate. Before I could get safely off the highway the tire came apart. Upon examination the only reason for the loss of air appears to be a cracked valve stem. I checked the other 3 wheels and found the valve stems all cracked. I could have had multiple tire failures! I purchased a new tire and am having all 5 valve stems replaced. This could very easily have been a deadly accident. Ford customer service will not acknowledge that this is a defect, they say it falls under the 12 month tire warranty, my vehicle is 17 months old.
Tire failed on highway apparently due to cracked valve stem.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford f150. The vehicle has tech International valve stems, model tr414. The contact stated that both rear tires blew out due to faulty valve stems. He replaced all but three tires on the vehicle and recently discovered a recall for tech International valve stems. Updated 11/10/08 the consumer replaced the valve stems on all of the tires. Updated 11/13/08.
Tire leaking from faulty valve stems.
I had a valve stem failure which led to a flat tire while driving. When I took the truck in to discount tire to have it checked, they said all of the valve stems were bad and replaced them all. There was no cost to me and no damage. I saw the article in the paper about it and decided to report it for data gathering purposes.
I have a 2007 Ford F-150,I have replaced two valve stems in the last 3 months. I felt that this was very strange. If I didn`t have a warning light I would have probably wreck because the tire pressure drop quickly.
We've had two valve stem failures on a 2007 Ford F-150 truck. The valve stems had multiple cracks and caused the tire to deflate. The failures occurred have occurred on both front tires.
No events led up to the failure. Three valve stems have leaked and had to be repaired/replaced to date. The valve stems all had a slow leak which then led to tires losing air to the point that the tire had to be changed to the spare tire, then taken to be repaired.
I own a Ford -150 super crew and I bought it in may of 2007. Two months ago I had a valve stem blow out. I got it fixed. This past Tuesday. I had another valve stem blow out. I took it to a tire repair shop and the other two valve stems we're dry-rotted. I had them replace all three. I believe there is a serious problem with Ford putting on old valve stems. There is no way four valve stems should have dry rotted in 13 months.
Defective valve stems on Ford f150 (2007).
I purchased a f 150 one year ago. I went into a store only to come out to a flat tire (minutes later). I took it to mincz tire, and the problem was a faulty valve stem. The same thing happened days later. All of the valve stems are cracking and must now be replaced. Later that week, I saw a television report on faulty valve stems, so I decided to report.
Valve stem on Ford f150 failed resulting on a flat tire on the highway. Other three valve stems are currently cracking.
Two flat tires on my 2007 F-150 because of faulty valve stems. I called the toll free number for Ford roadside assistance to change the tires both times. Colony tire of elizabeth city repaired both tires for me.
2007 Ford f150 was leased from enterprise leasing on March 31, 2008 at gainesville, florida. The tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) showed low tire pressure at time of lease delivery. Agent for enterprise had tires inflated at time of lease delivery. Was informed by enterprise that tires and air pressure were fine. On April 6, 2008 (6 days later), the vehicle hydroplaned going 55 mph in 55 mph zone on straight, level roadway and crashed almost killing complainant and wife. Discovered uneven tread on tires and defective tire valve stem on front passenger side tire.
