Tl the contact owns a 2009 Ford F-150. While attempting to start the vehicle, it cranked but failed to start. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to future Ford Lincoln (650 automall dr, roseville, CA 95661, (888) 656-7577) where it was diagnosed that the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that no recall was associated with the VIN. The approximate failure mileage was 66,000.
The rear door wiring harnesses are under/poorly engineered for normal usage and durability and are subject to premature breakage specifically where the body meets the door resulting in multiple exposed wires causing first and foremost the dangerous potential for vehicle fire as well as inoperable door ajar sensors, electronic locks, window control and interior lighting.
