Ford f150 4x4 XLT, dash board keeps going out. Shows skidding, and tire sensor faulty, dingging, a/c goes hot, inside lights don't work. Has happened many times, spoke with Ford took it in, they stated they could not duplicate the problem, which we have found out is a lie. They stated we needed a new battery, which we had tested as well as the alternator and nothing wrong there either. We took it to advanced auto to see what they could tell us. A young man said that Ford had put out a inside notice that his buddy showed him of a faulty wiring harness in the dash. He asked if he could show us a short term fix. . . He smacked the dash and all the lights came back on. If we hit a bump it will do it again, or on really hot days, because of the heat. We are waiting on Ford to recall this as it is a serious hazard and maybe start fires. As sometimes you smell electrical, this happens daily when ever we drive the truck, you can have a wreck trying to smack it hard enough to get it to come back on. This happens when you are sitting in the truck , driving, or when you go to start it up. . . You will have no gauges, lights a/c or heat in the winter. Yet the outside lights will work, yet when you push the brakes you hear a loud clicking. This has been happening for approx. 2. 5 yrs +. . . Ford needs to recall and fix this. Everyday we deal with this problems multiple times a day. We brought this truck new and it first did this around 23,000 miles. Now at just over 50,000 miles. There are times that smacking the dash does notwork and we have to wait for it to come on, those time you have to run with traffic or if others are passing you need to speed up. Very dangerous.
After noticing the inside of my truck windows steaming up, I felt around and found the back seats and floor were soaked. It had been raining hard for several days and it turned out the 3rd brake/cargo light assembly for the cargo bed was full of water and had allowed water to inside of the cabin. The ceiling liner, seats and carpet were soaked. I have duck-taped it for now, but will have to replace the assembly. The light bulbs had never been changed. Ford is saying it's not their fault but with the amount of complaints on the net, it certainly isn't the customer's fault. Step up Ford and do what you should be doing; make a recall on this part and fix it. We spend alot of money for your product; stand behind it. There was a time when Ford meant quality, but it sure seems like it doesn't any more.
Vehicle was sitting outside after a heavy rain noticed water leaking from interior roof. My windows fogged up impairing my vision from the excessive moisture inside the vehicle. Also my vehicle smells musty and moldy causing health concerns to myself and other passengers. I turned on the light in the evening and could see light shining through between the gasket of the light assembly and the metal of the cab. I went to the dealer and they told me to make an appointment so they could look at it when I already know what the issue is. I asked the shop person if he could take a quick look at it so he could see what I was seeing and he told me it is a common problem and the gasket needs to be replaced. I was assured by the Ford dealer that I need to make an appointment for them to look at it and that Ford will not remedy the issue for the leak or the water damage.
When I try to start my car all of the warning lights and theft lights flash and the vehicle won't turn. If I leave it for some time and come back and try it, sometimes it will work. When it does work it's only briefly, the a/c goes out but still blows air, the instruments including speedometer go to zero even when I'm on the highway. This is a huge issue due to safety and reliability. I've taken it to a Ford dealership, they held it for two weeks and gave it back to me saying it was working fine. On my way back from the dealership, the same thing happened again. This has been a huge hassle and I've had to miss work because of it.
Started truck one morning right before thanksgiving and no lights displayed in the control dash panel. Great right before a planned trip. None of the gauges worked. Began driving and the radio stopped working. Hit a bump in the road and something beeped and they came back on for a few minutes and then went back off, and this type of electrical behavior has been going on since right before thanksgiving. On occasion I can just shut the drivers side door and the display panel gauges and lights begin working for a few minutes and then without warning the dash is blank again. Sometimes I'm lucky and they stay on for 50miles before going out again. I put fuel in the truck today 01-13-2013 in sulfur okla and no fuel gauge. It didn't register and the display lights began going off and on. I stopped in pauls valley okla for a coke, while idling, the outside temp gauge climbed from 29 actual degrees to 86degrees in less than 5 minutes but when I began driving again the outside temp went back down to 29degrees. On 2 occasions while on I-35 the gauges would beep, reset and go back off. I drove from atoka okla to the texas panhandle with no way of telling my speed, fuel gauge, no temp gauge no blinkers to signal lane changes, I even tried the emerg. Flashers and they wouldn't work either. I'm really afraid there is going to be a fire in the dash or something and I'll loose everything, and no one seems to care. It seems to be all about the sale. My warranty is almost up and no one cares!, this is not normal! before I left on my trip 01-08-2013 to okla. I called the dealer gene messer where I bought the truck, and they said they would have a service man call. Well it's the 14th and no call. There is defiantly something wrong when you spend over 40,000 dollars on a vehicle and afraid your going to get a speeding ticket, but worse burn up in it or get killed. Please help.
: my 2010 F-150 XLT has spider web cracks on the headlamp housing both sides. I have kept my vehicle in a garage every night. I have a friend who has a 2009 F-150 that has 65,000 miles and his have no cracks. I called maxwell Ford in austin who is where I purchased two vehicles there in January 2012 and was told its plastic and they could not do anything about it. These cracks did not develop from rocks or other things striking the headlamps. It looks to me that it is some type of defect and I have taken photographs of them for you to see. I want them replaced. I have an extended warranty from the dealership on my vehicle. The spider web cracks can be a safety issue in the headlamp performance. There was a horrible storm last night. I got into my truck this morning and the entire back seat was soaked! I spoke with 2 other Ford f150 truck owners and they have had the same exact issue. Both of their issues were the result of the exterior light on the top back of the vehicle. I called Ford in temple TX. They confirmed they have had this issue a couple of other times and it was in fact the exterior light leaking as it was not properly installed. I have to now pay for this manufacturer's defect. This should be reported as a recall as it has happened to several Ford f150 truck owners. I am not happy with the experience of Ford!.
After owning my truck for nearly 2 years I began to notice a musty smell. Last weekend my kids were riding in the back seat and noticed water pooled on the center seatbelt frame. I immediately thought the sliding glass window was partially opened, but it wasn't. Besides it was no where near where the water was pooling. Then we noticed in both corners of the headliner dark water stains. Just by looking at the cab of the truck it looks to me like it is the molding that extends about 18 inches up the cab of the truck. I'm thinking it wasn't properly sealed on the roof. I am sure it has been leaking since day one,but with the drought here in houston for the last year I am just now noticing since it rains at least twice a week. Ford is saying it is out of warranty and I would have to pay to have it fixed. Excuse me but why is this considered warranty work when it is clearly craftsmanship of the truck. First time Ford owner but never again. I don't have enough time to explain all the transmission and brake issues.
