Leaving my driveway today, the 2010 Ford F-150 suddenly indicated a brake fluid level low message and the brake warning indicator turned on. The brake pedal, which was firm about a minute before, suddenly depressed to floor and the truck was stopped only with great difficulty. The sudden change in braking performance would probably have caused an accident if I had been driving in traffic. I took the truck to a mechanic who refilled the master cylinder and bled the brakes. I left the mechanic and pulled out. The brakes were fine leaving the lot. About 1/4 mile later, the brake warning came on and the brakes became spongy. I immediately returned to the mechanic and was informed that the brake master cylinder was draining into the booster. Apparently this is a recall item on later F-150s but it does not appear to include the 2010.
The contact's wife owns a 2010 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving, the vehicle failed to exceed 80 mph. The contact stated that the abs and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where dtc: c1440 (pressure transducer main/primary signal faulted) was retrieved. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact provided the dtc: c1440 to the dealer. The dealer informed the contact that the abs module needed to be replaced; however, the part had been discontinued. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 131,591.
2010 Ford f150 only owner - brake calipers and break line failed. Took it into Ford dealership and they were unable to provide a diagnosis. Truck still shakes when in idle. All maintenance and needed care for the truck has been maintained. Repair cost over $4k to repair for 6 months in with the issue. Camera does not work and has not since 2014. Heated seats stopped working and burned out in 2014. All issues started to surface after truck was paid off. . . . Of course.
While attempting to leave my driveway, I put my foot on the brake pedal in order to put the vehicle into gear. I heard a “pop” and the pedal went to the floor. There were no warning lights on the dash. The vehicle remains, (un-driven) in my driveway. I don’t know what failed and the vehicle has not been inspected. I do notice fluid leaking under the vehicle but don’t know where it’s coming from.
I was in a parking lot and went to shift the truck out of park and noticed the brake system warning light on. After the vehicle was shifted into drive the brake pedal went to the floor and the only way to stop the vehicle was with the parking brake. The master cylinder was empty of any fluid. I had the vehicle towed to my home for inspection. After checking all brake lines for ruptures or leaks, I removed the master cylinder and discovered the brake booster full of brake fluid. I replaced the master cylinder and the vehicle returned to its normal braking function. The brake booster was also replaced due to the corrosive nature of the brake fluid. Luckily, I was parked and wasn’t driving when the vehicle lost brake function because I wouldn’t have been able to stop the vehicle at highway speed with the parking brake.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle overheated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the brake pads were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall regarding the electrical system with the brakes. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
There have been 3 times now that my vehicle has randomly died while driving on the highway and city streets. With the engine not running I lost power steering and almost couldn't make a turn. No warning lights, no chimes. Looking into it myself I found that the fuel relay 20amp fuse was melted and the plastic around the terminal also melted. Ford has a TSB out for this issue but I feel it should be recalled for safety purposes as there is no warning and you lose all power. Little to no steering or brakes until you come to a stop and pop the hood open and wiggle that fuse in hopes that it will make contact again. This means that you could be left stranded or get into an accident trying to stop. Many people in online forums have had this same issue and it needs to be addressed accordingly.
I was driving my 2010 Ford F-150 and my brake pedal went straight to the floor no warning at all, thankfully no accident but was very scary, wasn't very far away when this happened so was able to make it home safely.
Front brakes, front end shakes violently when applying brakes. Put new brakes and rotors on it and 6 months later doing the same thing. I keep having to tighten lug nuts because of it. Ford service advisor says unfortunately year models 2009- 2014 have a problem with rotors warping and Ford parts or after market parts will not fix it. He said they fixed the problem in 2015 but there there is not a fix for my year model? I drive the interstates a lot and I am afraid a wheel is going to come off.
The vehicle will break on its own, without any warning. This has occurred several times over the past few years. It usually occurs when traveling at lower speeds. 40 mph and lower. I have not had any incidents on the freeway, just on the highway and mountain roads. No codes come up. The stability control light may come on but it goes away.
I was pulling onto an undivided two lane hwy. And was accelerating up to speed. The vehicle, without any type of warning, applied the brakes by itself causing it to veer hard left and pulling the truck into the oncoming traffic lane. The indicator light for traction control flashed on and off in the instrument panel and you could hear the abs deploying. Lucky there was no one behind me or coming towards me. Very dangerous situation and quite frightening for my family. We live in a rural community and the dealership is over 50 miles away in one direction. Concerned about safely being able to get it in for diagnostics.
My vehicle stop without warning. Had a 800. 00 dollar tune-up. It has stopped several times since tune-up . I took it to two dealers they said they could not find any codes indicating their was a problem. It cuts off as I come to a stop or when I slow down to make a turn at slow speeds on city streets.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while approaching a stop sign at 20 mph, the power brake booster fractured a seal. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v345000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 143,000.
After the truck sits for eight to 10 hours, when I start it up I have a very hard brake pedal and no brakes. This happens when I back out of the garage on a slight decline. If I stand on the brake with both feet it eventually begins to work. There were no dashboard warnings before I pulled out of the garage. This failure was very frightening. Imagine the feeling of no brakes! omg! I was headed for the neighbor's yard and big tree! I plan to pursue repair of this with my local service people. My research narrowed to an "electric vacuum assist pump" issue being investigated by the nhtsb which sounds exactly like what's happened to me.
While backing out of a driveway I initially had no brakes until I pushed the brake pedal excessively hard. Once the brakes started to work they were fine. Seems to happen shortly after starting the truck. This has happened several times since.
My Ford f150 XLT was parted in my drive way, last driven at 9. 00am on 8/29/2014. The vehicle was engaged in park, steering wheel locked and key fully with drawn. At around 5. 00pm vehicle took off itself with out driver went down the street and hit another parked vehicle causing big damages to that vehicle and as well to Ford 150 that I own. I have several evidence of people around my street watching this happening. My purpose of this complain 1. To find out whether there is recall on this vehicle, and Ford hasn't informed the customers 2. The dealership san leandro Ford in CA 94577 didn't respond my compliant- my request was to find if there is recall on the vehicle. 3. My big concern is for public safety, whether this vehicle has factory and has tendency take off when fully parked and disengaged. I believe we were just lucky it didn't hit children playing on the street or didn't run in to some one's house. 4. I really beg your organization to quickly investigate, because this defect can cause serious accidents and deaths 5. We have several pictures and videos for evidence, taken by people in the neighborhood.
Shifted from park to reverse, felt a pop but figured I drove over a pot hole. (nothing being me) put into drive, made intimidate right turn onto street, tried to slow down at light and break peddle went straight to floor. Pumped it several times to slow down to a complete stop. Truck is still under 69k miles. (with 34k since last major service). Looked under truck and saw nothing, --> no warning systems or lights on <-- went to dashboard and ran the Ford system check - it said "break system ok" figured must have been air or something would check on it when I got home. Back into drive turned corner attempted to stop at stop light same issue only worse, figured I would have to baby it to a shop. Dash system still no warnings or break notifications, thought maybe I'm low on break fluid will check at home. Going 5 mph now, just a block away from home, attempted to pre-slow down to stop sign, fail just kept going - lucky no one was there. Pulled straight into home used e-brake to stop in-front of neighbors house. Break system check again said "break system ok" no breaks, looked under struck - rear drivers side break fluid all over and pouring out. Wasn't able to find leak or cut or broken hose, maybe a link between hose and connector is bad or something else. Will have to check with Ford further. For now - seems like a defect having a break warning system that doesn't detect pressure or break fluid levels. Even running the check returns break system ok on dashboard - even when there are no breaks.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford f150. The contact stated that the front brake and rotors became worn prematurely. In addition, the rear brake disc was not making contact with the rotors and caused corrosion within the open area. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 12,000 and the current failure mileage was 18,000. The consumer stated he purchased the vehicle used. At 12,000 miles, the brakes felt abnormal, as if the vehicle did not want to stop, while in reverse, at 18,000 miles the vehicle was inspected, and it was discovered the outer brake pad was completely worn out, while the inner brake pad had very little wear or contact with the rotor. Updated 01/27/14.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. While at a stop light with the brake pedal depressed, the contact had to apply extreme force to the brake pedal in order to stop the vehicle. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer on multiple occasions, but the failure was unable to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 5 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal but the brakes would not respond. The transmission disengaged as the vehicle began rolling backward. The contact shifted to park and was able to stop the vehicle and shut the engine off. After restarting, the contact was able to operate the vehicle without failure. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
While breaking to make right hand turn engine stalled. First indication was truck was impossible to steer. I was able to stop truck in the middle of the intersection. At a higher speed this would have been deadly. Ford dealer claimed to have never heard of the problem even though an internet search shows thousands of such incidents, many of them reported to this agency. Dealer was unable to find a cause, although the manager said it was likely the throttle body but he could not replace a part under warranty unless it was positively known to be defective. I was sent on my way to risk my life in an unsafe vehicle.
When declerating to a stop or stopped the engine will die. When I attempt a restart the engine will try to turn over for 10-15 seconds then stop. After 3 or 4 attemps and giving a little gas the truck will start. This has now happened 5 times to me in the past 2 weeks. I took the truck to Ford and they didnt return any codes so nothing repaired. They fit my truck with a recorder and I am suppose to press a button next time it dies. This seems to be a serious issue as I have seen dozens of posts with the same issue.
After owning my truck for nearly 2 years I began to notice a musty smell. Last weekend my kids were riding in the back seat and noticed water pooled on the center seatbelt frame. I immediately thought the sliding glass window was partially opened, but it wasn't. Besides it was no where near where the water was pooling. Then we noticed in both corners of the headliner dark water stains. Just by looking at the cab of the truck it looks to me like it is the molding that extends about 18 inches up the cab of the truck. I'm thinking it wasn't properly sealed on the roof. I am sure it has been leaking since day one,but with the drought here in houston for the last year I am just now noticing since it rains at least twice a week. Ford is saying it is out of warranty and I would have to pay to have it fixed. Excuse me but why is this considered warranty work when it is clearly craftsmanship of the truck. First time Ford owner but never again. I don't have enough time to explain all the transmission and brake issues.
Complete loss of braking power upon backing out of the garage - twice! after the first time, the tow truck mechanic refilled brake fluid levels and parked truck back in garage. A few hours later, I tried backing the truck out of the garage and again did not have any braking power! again the brake fluid was low, although there were no leaks found anywhere on the garage floor. Furthermore, none of the warning indicator lights appeared to let me know that the brake fluid was low during either incident. During both incidents I had absolutely no braking power. The truck is now at the dealership and I am waiting for their response. Please contact me at the telephone number (rather than email) below to discuss.
Vehicle being driven at normal highway speed on cruise control. Cruise control kicked off. Then power steering a breaks went out and a fire started in the engine compartment in front of driver seat. Vehicle coasted to the side of the road. Smoke began to fill the cab. At side of road vehicle was evacuated vehicle burned to the ground. Photos available from the time the time they got to the side of the road.
Front left brake stuck while driving in 2011. Stopped at a stop light and it looked like it was on fire. Pulled to the left and would not get over 50 miles an hour all the way home. 40 mile distance. I took it to an ase certified mechanic and was told the brake line had collapsed . Had motorcraft brake line and brake pads installed. Later 2012 the right side done the same thing, it was so bad the rotor had to be changed out. 2014 left side it happened again, this time I bought napa auto parts, break line, brake pads, caliper and rotor. 2015 it happened again on the right side again. I got parts from rock auto. Brake pads, rotor, break line and caliper. . 2020 left side it happened again , same process as before same parts bought again installed . Now 1/10/2022 here iam having to do it again. There is absolutely a problem with the 2010 F-150s, im not the only person that has had this problem. My question is this, does someone have to die in an accident of brake failure, or die from a fire caused by the brakes heating before this public safety issue is fixed. Ford do a recall and inspect and repair if needed the problem before a death or injury happens. 2 years in to ownership and less that 60,000 miles I started have trouble ,and the mechanic had all ready been advised about the brake line problem is very telling. I want to file a legal complaint against Ford should something happen in the future to me or anyone else out there with a 2010 to 2014 F-150.
While breaking to stop at an intersection the truck unintentionally accelerates and will not stop. The abs break pulsations continued walking the f150 into the intersection as the engine rpms climbes. I put it in neutral, the engine revves very high, I released the break and then slammed it back down. The rpms drop to normal and the truck stoppes. It has done this once every year since 2011. It shows no trouble codes and won't do it for the Ford service technicians.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. While driving at approximately 30 mph repeated pressure was applied to the brake pedal but the vehicle would not stop. After approximately 10 seconds the brakes locked up and the vehicle stopped. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed the brakes needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure continued to recur whenever pressure was applied to the brake pedal. The failure and current mileages were 5,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Brakes on 2010 F-150 need replaced with under 10,000 miles on the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford f150. The contact stated that while he attempted to stop the vehicle the front brakes violently engaged felt as if he would eject from the vehicle through the windshield. The failure occurred intermittently. The manufacturer stated that they are aware that the failure exists on some of the 2010 vehicles, but in time it should correct itself. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure. The dealership diagnostic test stated that the failure does exist, but could not correct the failure. The manufacturer will not pay for the repairs. The failure mileage was 75 and the current mileage was 10,000.
Aggressive braking system on 2010 f150 4 x 4. Ford deems this to be a normal characteristic with this vehicle but according to their ssm 21458 it states that only some f150 are affected. It also states in the ssm that it can get worst before it gets better. When braking it feels like you hit the front brakes on a bike. I had two dealers look at this problem but with this ssm it states that they can not perform any service. Yet when talking to a srvc tech they agree the brakes are not what they are use to. Leaving and opinion that they to agree with the customer. In my opinion Ford realizes that there is a problem why else put out an ssm there must of been previous complaints on this issue in order for Ford to acknowledge this. I can send you a copy of this ssm if needed. Please supply your address. This issue started when I picked up the vehicle. My other concern is, if my brakes are part of the some that is normal what about the other some?? [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Problems incurred second day of driving. . . Into Ford dealer @ 1800 miles. . . Now 30,000. Severe transmission hits @ start & stop violent slamming between gears and when dowshifting complete slipage/disengagement when backing up slight grade. Left front brake drags with wheel sliding on ice-snow, brake linings smoke and smell and rotor 386 degrees with others @ 124-160. In to 3-different Ford dealerships a total of 6 times and with factory Ford technician once and told twice by Ford dealer shop managers that there is nothing they can. . . Will do. "all" say they've re-programmed the transmission and cleared the learning curve. No codes stored or seen. . . . Ford has tried to tell me basically. . . I'm nuts and everything is fine. . . Have four written statements of other drivers of my truck as to what they've incurred. . . Makes no differenc. Have filed with bbb and going to arbitration, which from what all the other Ford f150 owners are saying. . . Will be an exercise in futility. . . And time. Have given Ford diagrams showing transmission problems. . . . Have given Ford written and verbal descriptiions of under what conditions it happens and to drive under same and expierence for themselves. . . They "all" refuse to enter my complete descriptions onto work order or drive it under conditions described. Have no idea why 3-400,000 Ford f150 owners do not file a class action. . . Only way Ford will respond. . . . . . . . . Will not. . . Cannot drive on ice/snow for fear of losing control when both brake and transmission problems may occur.
