3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/25/2024

On April 25th, 2024 on interstate 75 in findlay, OH my truck had the back end lock up briefly and started to hop and fish tail. The engine rpm's went way up and the service light came on in the truck and the ignition was shut off (automatically and not by the key) truck had electrical power but engine was no longer running and the truck coasted to a stop on the side of the highway. I had the truck towed back to my house and I went to check for codes with my snap-on computer and no codes were present. I started the truck up and no issues were noticed. I took the vehicle to a local repair shop for further investigation. The rear differential was drained as was the transmission oil. Also the brakes were inspected. The mechanic didn't find anything that could explain the issue. He saw a rear brake pad that wasn't moving as freely as it should but explained that didn't sound like that's what the issue was. Nothing abnormal was noticed in the differential fluid or transmission fluid either. I know that Fords are having issues with the transmission shifting into first gear on its own and am wondering if that is the true issue. That is the only thing that explains what happened that day. The truck is currently running ok. I talked to the Ford dealership today and they said that they would have to confirm that that is what is happening, but it sounds highly likely that that is what happened and since the truck is currently not covered under the current recall the bill would be around $3400. I am filing this so that they and you are aware that it is possible that it is happening to the 2010 model years as well.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Going down busy highway unable to go faster than twenty miles an hour. Had to be jumped twice in a few hours still only able to go twenty miles an hour, then battery died while going twenty miles and hour. Engine light along with battery light and wrench symb.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2019

Takata recall: my 2010 Ford raptor with the 6. 2l motor has been having a wrench light come on and I have had two quotes stating the neutral position sensor or transmission range sensor is bad. I've noticed that many recalls have been made on the Ford F-150 models starting in 2011-2014. With my vehicle being produced mid year of 2010. I feel my vehicle is part of that recall. But doesn't show in any systems. My vehicle will stay stuck in a certain gear or not start at all. I can be driving down the high way and the vehicle will shift down to first gear when the vehicle is still in drive while going 60mph. It makes the vehicle reach redline on rpms and hard to stop the vehicle.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2018

While on my regular commute to work as I drove onto the highway frontage road I slowly began to accelerate when suddenly my truck started accelerating on its own. So much so that I was no longer controlling its speed. Realizing this I had to apply both feet simultaneously on the brakes in order to slow the vehicle enough to put it in neutral then finally I was able put it in park. Unbelievably the engine was still running at high rpms even though it was in park. It wasn't until after I turned the engine off that the rpm's stopped. Immediately after this I saw smoke coming from both of the front wheel wells. As I got out of the truck I realized that both sets of brakes were on fire. This caused irreparable damage to the braking system as the components had become extremely overheated. The instance of the engine running high rpms also occurred the night before. However this time my wife was driving. We were in a parked position after fueling up the truck and were getting ready to leave the gas station. My wife just applied the brakes and put the truck back in park then the rpm's calmed down. We just kind of dismissed it until less than 12 hours later the above mentioned incident occurred. Coincidence I think not.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2014

When I try to start my car all of the warning lights and theft lights flash and the vehicle won't turn. If I leave it for some time and come back and try it, sometimes it will work. When it does work it's only briefly, the a/c goes out but still blows air, the instruments including speedometer go to zero even when I'm on the highway. This is a huge issue due to safety and reliability. I've taken it to a Ford dealership, they held it for two weeks and gave it back to me saying it was working fine. On my way back from the dealership, the same thing happened again. This has been a huge hassle and I've had to miss work because of it.

Filed a complaint eariler in the year about the electrical problems, and finally received a call back from the dealer. 20 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2012

On may 8th 2012, my truck stalled while I was merging into traffic at approx. 55 mph. The vehicle was brand new when I purchased it in may of 2009 from gulf coast auto Ford in angleton, texas. So, I had them tow it to their shop for repairs. The mass air flow sensor was replaced on may 9th, and I drove the vehicle until Friday , may 11th, when the same problem occurred. The vehicle stalled at traffic speeds, died, and then couldn't be restarted! this second incident also resulted in my having the vehicle towed to the dealership where I am told that they can't find the problem!! it now starts after the stalling, but not until a period of hours passes. What can I do? this is a serious safety issue? Ford is telling the dealership to put an on-board data recorder on my truck that they cannot even get from Ford! I only have 52000 miles on this vehicle and have cared for it meticulously.

21 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2011

As I was traveling on I-95 today at 1pm at 75mph my truck suddenly jerked me forward as I let off accelerator it downshifted from 6th to first violently locking me rear brakes up and fishtailing me into the shoulder. The car then stalled and I coasted safely to a stop. The car would start back up and run but I called roadside assistance and was towed to the dealer/ this was a very scary and dangerous situation. Had it been raining or wet conditions I would have been in a serious accident and even died. I do not want to understate this occurrence. This had to be looked in to immediately.

25 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2011

While breaking to stop at an intersection the truck unintentionally accelerates and will not stop. The abs break pulsations continued walking the f150 into the intersection as the engine rpms climbes. I put it in neutral, the engine revves very high, I released the break and then slammed it back down. The rpms drop to normal and the truck stoppes. It has done this once every year since 2011. It shows no trouble codes and won't do it for the Ford service technicians.
