I was driving and went to turn on my rear defroster and a few seconds later. It sounded like someone shot my truck. I pulled over and didn't see any damage to the body of my truck but then realized that my rear window was shattered.
This vehicle has a serious problem with the electric power steering assistance service (epas) . The steering module seems to not control the steering well, making it hard to turn or it begins to lock. The rack and pinnon seems to be the issue causing this and can lead to a serious accident since if going on speeds of 45mph+ the car steering becomes rigid and does not have a balance between a nudge to the left or a hard left. It makes that hard left without any warning.
On repeat occasions my truck speedometer will stop working, my odometer will read zero and my vehicle will not allow me to increase speed despite stepping on the gas. In order to resolve the issue I have had to turn the truck off and on again.
Driver's side rear door will not open. This started with the door not unlocking sometimes with the key fob. When this happened, the door would have to unlocked manually. Now the door will not open at all - not with key fob nor with lock knob. Neither the interior or exterior door handle will open the door. Nothing will work and impossible to replace door latch mechanism with door closed. N based on internet searches, this is not a rare occurrence. Definitely a safety issue if in an accident especially if an emergency situation.
While driving the speedometer goes to zero. The odometer displays just dashes. The engine power is reduced significantly. I pull over and shut the engine off, remove the key and then restart the truck. Then it drives normally until the next time it happens.
While driving my f150 on highway the vehicle transmission is dropping gears suddenly, it seems its going to first gear, another problem I am having with the vehicle's transmission does not go into reverse, when I push the shift lever in the reverse position, the vehicle's transmission does go in reverse, the reverse light does not illuminate on the dashboard of my F-150 and the backup lamp on the rear of my F-150 does not illuminate.
I purchased my 2011 f150 ecoboost in used condition in 2014. The primary use for my truck is around town errands and hauling light loads. For sometime now I have had issues, like many others have complained as well, during acceleration at 45+mph the engine loses it's power, shudders and stalls. Once there is a reduction in the amount of throttle, it takes a few minutes to regain "normal" driving conditions. For example, my family and I were coming home from florida on the parkway, in July and with no abnormal weather conditions, and as I was ascending a grade about 75 miles per hour and a semi truck behind me, I gave the truck more throttle and it began to shudder violently, a subtle backfire, and lost power and could not regain throttle response. I quickly moved the truck into the emergency lane and had let the truck return to a normal idle, took a few minutes, before almost getting into a serious collision with the semi-truck. Over the past years I have just dealt with the issue and have taken it to mechanics and scanned the truck with no error codes or issues, until just recently. The mechanic scanned it and it showed misfires on #4 and #6. He replaced the coil and plug hoping that would be the cure, but with no luck it did not solve the issue. I'm reluctant to drop another $250. 00 to replace the rest of the coils, but I don't know what else to do. I do not have disposable income and the truck is payed for, I and can't afford to get another vehicle. I enjoy my f150 and plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off. I have read post after post and video's that there are many people experiencing the same issues, but it seems no one is willing to step forward and make the complaint. I want this issue addressed and I hope Ford will resolve the issue before someone is seriously injured or a life is taken over this problem.
The advancetrac system pops up and will either slow the truck down or shut it right off. . I had a mechanic look at it and it still continued to do it. . . I have to shut it all down and try to restart it will sometimes drive for a short time or go for days. This has been going on for over a year where it will also go months without happening.
Truck locked up on me on the highway doing 70+ mph & caused me to spin out & wreck. It's a recall for that issue that Ford will not fix for me because of mileage. Terrible customer service & endangered my life & others that day for a issue that they're responsible for.
I will be accelerating from a stop position or cruising in town at 40 mph or on the interstate at 75 mph and my transmission will randomly slam into a lower gear causing my tires to occasionally lock up. My speedometer will simply stop working, my digital dash display will display dash marks instead of numbers and also display a wrench icon. Then once I pull the vehicle over and turn it off for a minute, everything will return to normal.

While driving mph will go to 0 miles ph. And a tool will display on the dash. My truck has 187k on it and have been told that Ford will not fix the issue due to mileage I would hope that Ford cares more about my family's safety than the 37k miles past the warranty. This is a well known problem that needs to be fixed, Ford I hope you will fix my truck. It has already had the tps done didnt help,I need my truck for work and cant afford to get another at this time. Help!!!!! ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the driver's side rear brake lamp and turn signal were inoperable. The contact stated that the left turn signal flashed quickly indicating a failure. Vehicle will down shift randomly and still haven't heard back from Ford about a remedy it's an open recall.
Transmission shifted in to 2nd at 50 mph. . Lost control hit a fence pole. . Blew up my tranny. . Nobody will help with towing.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon start of his vehicle, the vehicle failed to come to a complete stop while depressing the brake pedal. The contact also stated that the brake pedal would harden as the failure occurred. Also, the check brake system warning message was intermittently displayed on the instrument panel. In addition, the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, an abnormal noise would emit from the engine. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle with a defective electronic vacuum pump. The contact spoke with tadd jenkins Ford (1090 Ford way, blackfoot, id 83221) and the manufacturer who both informed him that there were no recalls on the vehicle for the electronic vacuum pump. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 115,000.
When the 2 rear doors are locked, it is haphazard when they will unlock or open, either manually or from the inside. When I have children in car seats in the rear seats and I am unable to open either door it can be a matter of life or death in cases of emergencies. Not everyone is able to crawl from the front seat to the rear seats to get babies out of their car seats. The doors will not unlock with the front door panel controls or the remote key. It does not matter if stationary or in motion, the doors still will not unlock . The date of 5/01/2019 is an approximate date, as this has been an off & on again problem. Now that I have babies to transport, it needs to be addressed.
Back truck door locked and will not open from the inside or outside dash light shows door is open, back glass defrost will not come on, none of the doors will lock or unlock with controls or remote. The truck was sitting in driveway when it started showing door was open. Door locked when I pushed the remote lock and will not open back up at all. Back defrost stoped working about a week before the doors messed up I pushed the button to turn it on and it never came on.
Rear view windshield shattered and blew up after my rear defrost window stopped working. I was driving my truck when it blew up and I started smelling smoke.
Stays in low gear and won't up shift. Shut truck off and after a few attempts it shifts. This has happened on several occasions. Once it did it while stop at a redlight. Went to pull out and it wouldn't shift out of low gear. Did it another time when I got it in and from a cold start ,put it in drive and it wouldn't shift out of 1st gear.
The engine revs and rpm suddenly increase regardless of gear. After the mph and rest of front display goes blank. After pulling over shutting of engine and restarting the truck the system resets. Very dangerous at high speeds.
Rear window passenger side shattered. Rear defrost would sometimes come on and sometime not. Suspect the window overheated and shatteres. Many of these incidents reported in us and canada.
Intermittent advance trac error message seems to cause turn signals to malfunction (you have to hold lever in position to keep flashers on to indicate turning/lane change). Problem goes as mysteriously as it came- from 5mph to 55mph. Turning traction control off has no effect on it. In two weeks this problem lasted for about 10 minutes on one occasion; and from my morning commute (25min) to my evening commute (25min) on another.
Rear window defroster/ went to use / light never came on . This was in colder weather defroster hasn't worked since then! vehicle was stationary.
On Monday January 6th I started my vehicle and let it warm up then when I tried to put my truck into reverse and when I put the shift lever in reverse the electronic transmission prndl display did not indicate the letter r for reverse and the backup lamps did not operate. After that I tried each gear and none of them were working so I put it into park and then back into drive it slammed into gear and then I was able to drive. The day before I got into my vehicle after it warmed up then put it into perverse and it did not go into reverse at all or drive. As a result I took it to midas in my town and they told me that there was a safety recall on my vehicle due to the codes and behavior so they advised me to take it to Ford dealership for it to be fixed for free. I did so and I asked about a recall and they reported to me that there is no recall and they want me to pay full charges this is a safety concern that can be taken care of by the dealership and I am missing work and out of the vehicle due to this delay and I'm still making payments on my vehicle that is not safe to drive.
Molded lead frame and oss replacement. I was not notified of the molded lead frame recall 16n02. I experienced the electrical issue described in the recall in my driveway. My dashboard lit up like a christmas tree and would only drive in first gear. I drove to a mechanic that was closer than the Ford dealer and was off of back roads so I could drive in first gear. I paid for the repair. I recently received a recall notice 19s07 which is for programming the oss sensor. I asked to be reimbursed for my repair and I was told no by crescent Ford & trucks. They said 19s07 is for programming only. I believe Ford should reimburse me for the lead frame, connector, automatic transmission fluid, and the speed sensor.
While driving and under no particular common conditions, the dashboard, instrument gauges, interior lighting, headlights, navigation panel suddenly begin flashing and blacking out. Then after a few seconds, come back to normal, but typically with a "traction control service" message on with the trouble light remaining on. This happens about every 10 minutes of driving. Once in a while, it lasted longer and clunking noises seemed to come from the drive train. However, a few occurrences were while turning and the power steering was out. I took it to a belle tire nearby and they could not fix the problem, saying the dealer had to update the abs module and gave me a printout of TSB 12-11-18 [attached scan]. They circled diagnostic trouble codes c1278 and c1963 as the ones that popped up in their analysis. I find no recalls of this item, but the steering issue is certainly dangerous.
At approximately 8 in the morning on 12/2/2018 I was at a stop getting ready to make a left turn, I had the window defroster/heat on, as well as the rear window defroster. Over the last year the rear window defroster light has illuminated intermittently but the defroster has always worked. As I started to move the vehicle, I heard a loud pop and thought someone had thrown something at my truck, but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. When I got to my destination less than 5 minutes and about a mile later, I got out and looked at the roof for any sign of something hitting the roof, when I noticed a steady trail of smoke coming from the rear window area, noticed that the rubber had melted and the passenger side rear window had shattered completely. I believe this is due to an electrical short in the rear window defroster circuit, I have since removed the fuse for the rear window defroster which disables my mirror heaters. I request that NHTSA investigates this further as there have been thousands of cases of this issue and it is a known issue and Ford is aware of it. It is a safety concern as it could harm a child or someone sitting in the backseat if the glass shatters and blows out of the frame as well as scaring someone causing them to react by braking, steering, etc. And possibly causing an accident. As far as I know, Ford has not issued a recall and has denied responsibility. This should be addressed and fixed free of charge on Ford's behalf based on the fact that it is a known manufacturer defect.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the transmission failed to shift into reverse when prompted. Also, the "r" indicator did not illuminate on the instrument panel. Al bilton Ford (7621 old state rd, holly hill, SC 29059, 1-803-496-3150) was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 12v190000 (power train, exterior lighting); however, the vehicle exhibited the same failure as listed in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
I was on the road when my truck started to smell burned and the truck was burning. It was totally lost. We were 4 people who were up and we were also burned.
While driving 60mph on the interstate the vehicle suddenly downshifted to 1st gear causing the rear wheels to lock up and send it into an uncontrolable skid.
Tl- the contact owns 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while attempted to drive the vehicle, it failed to drive and reversed. The check engine warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that when the gear shifter in drive position, it does not show on the instrument panel the vehicle in drive. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000. Aw.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that there had been an intermittent failure an unintended downshift into first gear can cause an abrupt wheel speed reduction, the gear at times had remained in neutral which had not properly changed over. An independent mechanic provided technical guidance due to the fact that the manufacturer had not issued a recall campaign yet. Months later after the failure had been experienced intermittently, the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: (power train) however the contact was waiting for the remedy to receive the solution and was uncertain as to when the vehicle may be repaired. The manufacturer was contacted to address the guidelines to repair the vehicle for the recall campaign. Parts distribution disconnect. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.
While driving my truck will shut down no power, this happens mainly while its raining at first now its starting to do this more often. The bcm is located in an area that when it rains the water has shorted the bcm and now I am having the truck completely shut down and or not start. I have been to Ford several times and theyre stating there is no recall due to this. I have heard the same complaint from other f150 owner whose bcm is in the sane exact spot as mine. Ford is not willing to help fix the problem but charge several hundred dollars to replace parts and diagnosting test to only not do anything about the issues.
On hghway transmission jerks when placing in reverse or drive also on road feels like it is pulling back like it wants to go in lower gear. . . . Also back door not closed on dash reading (electrical) miles on truck is 103000.
