Driving on major highway, 65-75 mph, lost engine power and had to pull over, trying not to cause a wreck, and stopped between busy highway and on-ramp to the highway. Found that the engine had stalled and wouldn't restart. Found #27 fuse melted. Changed fuse and was able to restart engine. I don't like repairing Ford's engineering mistakes, nor do I like being put in danger because of them. I use this truck for work and have a lifetime's accumulation of specialty tools kept in this truck for my job. If the truck goes up in flames, will Ford replace what is lost? the way this fuse, fuse box, and the connection has failed looks as there can potentially be a fire. In my case, there was an interruption in normal traffic flow, at high speed, that could a resulted in a wreck, injury, death, etc. I will fix this, probably on my own dime. What I don't understand is why is this not required to be fixed by Ford. It's an obvious safety hazard that even Ford has acknowledged and provided a TSB to address the problem.
The truck shifts into emergency mode while driving and I have to pull over and stop shut off vehicle and restart. While in idle the vehicle shakes. It is at the Ford dealer in beatrice nebraska and they have stated that the electric throttle body needed replaced. . . 400$ repair. Also, air conditioning compressor went out 1500. 00 repair on a 2013 vehicle!.
Car started to rust quick had air bubles built up on vehical went to the nearest dealer to get that done they told me they cant do anything about it when I bought the car and the speed sensor they dont want to fix it for dealer is located on rt 30 in plainfield. And my feul meater on the dasboard is inacurate.
Throttle body problems. I have 2015 F-150 ecoboost and for the 2nd time in 14 months have had to have my throttle body replaced. The engine dies while accelerating on the highway typically between 55-70mph and the wrench comes on. I have the coast the car off the side of the road avoiding speeding traffice, bring the car to a stop on the side of the highway and then turn the car off and on and it works. I've had it happy as many as 19 times on one trip.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. While driving and accelerating from a stop, the transmission malfunctioned and hesitated to shift into gear. There was also a shifting delay. The vehicle was taken to lou fusz Ford (2 caprice dr, chesterfield, mo), but the failure could not be diagnosed. The contact also indicated that the fuel filler neck was faulty and caused fuel to spill out when refueling. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000. The VIN was unknown.
After purchase, I got a continuous p0308, cylinder 8 misfire. Problem is that cylinder 4 has low/no compression, dragging down cylinder 8 as well.
When I accelerate on the highway to merge or pass my truck looses power completely can not accelerate. It shudders for about 45 seconds check engine light comes on flashing and it suddenly comes back to life. I took it to my local Ford and they said it was a high pressure pump that needed to be replaced. I replaced it and it is still having the same issue. This seems to be a common issue with these trucks. The more research I have done the more I find about this same issue. Ford should be held liable and recall these trucks for this problem. I now have to take it to another Ford dealership hoping they can figure it out. Last Ford truck I will ever own.
Due to throttle body failure, the truck has gone into a "limp" mode several times. Needless to say for the truck to suddenly stop accelerating when on the highway or even when taking off from a stop sign could be deadly. I wonder how many people are dead because of this and were not able to tell anyone the accident was due to the failure and not because of their driving. Not sure I want my wife or kids to drive anything made with Ford's throttle body design. I see there was a customer satisfaction program 13n03 to fix throttle body problems instead of a recall. Needless to say this customer is not satisfied.
I have a 2013 F-150 ecoboost. I was driving about 50 mph last night, 12/3/18 when it suddenly downshifted, causing the rear brakes to lock and tires squealed. I lurched forward in the seat. The speedometer went down and then back up to 50. It lasted all but seconds. I was able to drive home. I have left it in the garage since it is unsafe to drive at this point until I can get it to the garage. Thankfully the road was dry otherwise I would have skidded out of control. I have about 110,000 miles on the truck. This has not happened before. The past few weeks however it has occasionally not shifted out of 1st or has started in 5th gear. This has been sporadic only. Occasionally, when I start off, it will lurch forward. The vehicle has been maintained and has generally been a very good performing vehicle.
Billy cain Ford sold a truck to me as low mileage with no carfax damage. Salesman tom chacko promised a carfax report at closing. He failed to produce the report upon delivery to me at work. Tom vowed the truck had no damages. Carfax/auto check showed 4 brake failures and 2 alternator failures. Greene Ford verified flood damage 12-11-18. Tom chacko denied their findings 12-12-18, requested written report. Lemon squad documented flood damage 12-26-18. All three reports show consistent flood damage. Jason pirkle warranty/finance manager refused to repair failed emissions stating they were not covered under my extended warranty purchase. The emissions coded 170mi after purchase indicating that code was reset before my purchase. The emissions damage was covered under emissions performance warranty coverage federal mandate. Greene Ford gladly repaired the emissions with no issues. Jason pirkle presented the truck to wells fargo bank, state farm insurance, and Ford motor warranty division as undamaged value. The truck only has salvage value because of the flood damage. Over $5000 in repairs and 34 days in the repair shop. The truck has massive electrical issues from flood damage. I have not driven the truck since 12-11-2018. Major efforts were taken to deceive the buyer of this truck. If billy cain Ford had presented the truck truthfully I would have never purchased the truck. Billy cain Ford did a purchase inspection, maintenance service inspection, and complete detail so they had knowledge of flood damage. A registered mail request for buy back was sent to cody cain 1-17-2019 and he not responded to the request. Billy cain Ford has not made a honest written offer to resolve this issue to date.
Vehicle experiences hard downshift from higher to lower gears while driving at highway speeds on interstate highway, causing rear wheels to skid and vehicle to jerk. Vehicle looses power with rpm indicator on dash showing engine revving at or above 1,500 to 2,500 rpms while driving on local roads and streets. When starting from a stopped position the engine rpms will climb to 1,500 to 2,000 and the vehicle will no move. The wrench indicator has come on 3 times but goes off if vehicle is shut off and restarted. Additionally, the vehicle electronic control system does not store any codes to indicate the vehicle has experienced any problems. Have taken vehicle to local Ford dealer on 4 occasions only to be informed that no codes were present and vehicle did not act up while in their possession. Also informed by dealer that unless code is displayed during diagnostic test Ford motor will not pay for repairs unless code is displayed.
Vehicle went into limp mode during wide open throttle almost causing accident on hiway. Problem happened over and over. Found the 100,000 mile spark plugs failed.
Truck went in to "limp mode" while accellerating to get on highway. Vehicle decellerated. Wrench light came on. Vehicle was shut down and towed. Found throttle body and motor assymbly defective.
Driving in traffic Friday of the long memorial day weekend, traveling at 75mph, no warning my f150 stalls. Finally get pulled all the way to the shoulder. After sitting for an hour and getting help, it was found that the fuse for the fuel relay had melted. 50 cent part could have caused a deadly crash! why is there not a recall on this? mechanic that worked on my f150 said this is about the 12th one he had worked on. I also see that Ford has issued a TSB on this exact same problem.
While driving to work today, and making a right hand turn, my vehicle completely shut off. That is, the engine died, the power steering died, and the brakes died while the truck came to a complete stop in the middle of the lane. Let me reiterate - the truck completely died in the middle of the road and there was a complete loss of control over the vehicle. Had there been another vehicle, object, or person in front of me, I would have likely collided with them (thankfully the road was empty) research has lead me to find that this is a known issue with Ford and the f150 series from years 2010 to approximately 2014. Fuse number 27 in the engine fuse box is undersized from the factory and melts due to the inability to handle the amperage. I found mine melted after today as well. Ford has "addressed" this issue with a TSB (Ford TSB-15-0137 see attached) which it charges customers for to replace the fuse and wiring for the fuse with a new, up sized fuse and wires. They do not cover this free of charge unless your truck is under warranty. As this is a glaring safety issue that numerous people have reported, I ask that the NHTSA investigate this and have Ford initiate a recall on the affected vehicles, and make the repair free of charge to customers. This issue is a manufacturing flaw and one that has the ability to cause loss of life and property due to failure to control the vehicle. . Read more...
Engine stalls out periodically. Very dangerous in heavy traffic. This happens every time while in motion not sitting still. This is the eco boast 6 cylinder engine. Has been numerous reports with others but Ford still won't issue a recall on these engines. It has 89350 miles on it. I'm going to change the plugs & boots this weekend but I'm sure that will not solve my problem. Ford is being stubborn on recalls. Hopefully no one gets hurt in these vehicles before they issue the recall. Thanks NHTSA.
Started about 1 1/2 months ago, while driving at speed, vehicle felt like it shifted into neutral. Did not happen again til the next week. Then was taking off at a light and it had no pick up. Took into shop, no codes in computer, topped off transmission fluid. $97. Following week went to pass a vehicle and the truck lost power and started to shake, engine light flashing. Brought back to shop. Still no code, but they changed spark plugs and fuel system flush. $440. Was driving down the road rpm up to 3000, would not change if I pressed on gas or not, transmission shifting from 1-3 in random order. Felt like brakes were locking up. Driving 50 mph, rpm to 5000, speedometer from 50 to zero back to 50, brakes lock up. Pulled over, shut off truck, restarted no problem. Took to dealer I bought from, no codes could not help. Took to Ford dealer, said transmission lead frame needs repair $900, and main rear seal leaking badly. Never was I low on oil or had an oil spot. Looked up online several hundred of same vehicle with the same issues. No recall. Ford said nothing they could do because warranty is up and it is not their problem now.
With a hard acceleration the truck blogged down & the engine service light came on. I thought the engine shut off so I pulled it down into 1st gear & it took off again. Still sputters like there is water in the gas or something. Light will not go off. Pretty dangerous in heavy traffic. It actually didn't have any power what so ever. Pretty scary. I read there were several complaints of the same situation. Why has Ford taken care of this as a recall?.
While in motion driving, the vehicle unexpectedly downshifts into first gear causing control issues. This happens on the highway as well as city streets.
Takata recall, my timeline on 01/12/2018 I took my 2013 to goodyear to get 100,000 miles service. I had cooling system flush, rear differential drain and refill, transmission fuild exchange and replace platinum spark plugs at time of service odm was at 10205. On Saturday 01/13 transmission shift was not smooth, I took tuck back to goodyear. I was told that all checked out good, but another quart of transmission fluid was added. I drove truck on local street and on highway no trouble. On Tuesday 01/15 when I left home running errands truck took hard shift. I took truck to goodyear, I was told that technician drove truck no trouble found. On Wednesday 01/17 I left house two times. First time out no trouble. Second time out I went out on my way back home truck hard shift several times. Then there was a sound like a buzz saw. Both trips where to the same location less than 4 miles round trip. On Thursday 01/18 I called goodyear spoke with original service manager told him of trouble I wanted him to take a ride with me. We did he felt hard shift in transmission and heard buzz saw noise even dough sound was faint. He suggested and gave me a coupon for a free diagnostic test at aamco. I took truck to aamco on Thursday 01/18 left truck over night. I picked up truck on Friday 01/19, aamco found no trouble. On my way home truck was performing like it was before I took truck to goodyear. I was feeling good again about my truck then there was a unsmouth shift. Several miles later a loud buzz saw sound. This is Saturday morning I am going back to goodyear and see what should be my next move. Again I had no trouble with truck before I went to goodyear. If I had transmission trouble I wouldn't have gone to goodyear to have it fixed.
Throttle body errors p2111. Vehicle suddently stalls and shutters. Recall issued for other Ford vehicles with this exact problem. F150 ecoboost also needs to be included. This almost causes my family to be in an accident. Vehicle was traveling 32mph and coasting at the time. Lost all acceleration.
Electronic throttle body failure. This is the second time in 18 months that the etb has failed, causing the truck to go into limp mode while driving.
Ford's ecoboost turbo has leak and needs to be replaced. Acceleration has decrease power and causes delay before acceleration finally kicks in.
On first occurance, truck was in motion on highway. Vehicle lost power, gages zeroed out and engine light came on. Pulled over nad restarted vehicle and it ran fine and engine light cleared. Multiple loss of power occurances. Does not throw a code when diagnostics are ran. Tonight, when merging onto the interstate, while accelerating, truck lost all acceleration, all gauges stopped working and engine light came on. Restarted the truck, gages did not start working unitl truck was turned off a second time but the truck was driveable. Engine light did not clear.
Fortunately, we had just returned from avoiding hurricane irma after 1100 miles. A battery indicator came on at a stop light. It went away until 3 intersections and turns when I pulled into traffic on 66th st n st. Petersburg FL and quickly lost power. A message appeared on panel to put vehicle in park. I was able to coast to a left turn lane and had it towed to closest Ford dealer that was open, walker Ford. See repair invoice attached. I was fortunate in that it didn't happen in high speed merge attempt between heavy trucks! as the repair seemingly only relocates the fuse and does not address reoccurrence, I believe this was a life threatening safety issue and continues to be a life threatening issue!.
Two days in a row my vehicle stalled after violently shaking the steering wheel, I had a complete power loss. I coasted to the side of the road and waited to restart the engine. After about 5 minutes I was able to restart my vehicle. The second time it happened I was one the way to the dealership. The dealership called me back to inform me that my vehicle was driven for 26 miles and could not duplicate. I have been researching online to see if there have been any issues. Back in 2013 an investigation was started for this issue. I spoke with the dealership and the service department told me they could not do anything because the cars computers did not throw a code. Not only did nothing happen Ford did not mention any TSB that would help or fix this issue, after I asked about any TSB that would help or fix. Still I got nothing from the dealership.
After parking the truck, I came out and it would not start, had it towed to my repair shop, where I was told it was a burned wiring to the fuse for power to injectors. There is a service bulletin on this. But still it cost me $300. 00.
Made a turn at an intersection with my kids and my f150 ecoboost lost power. I thought we were gonna get hit. I have had my 2013 f150 into the local Ford dealership 3 times for this issue. They tell me to drive it they are waiting for a new computer program from Ford. Engine lite has been on for a month or more. Dealership keeps giving it back. Waiting on program. Vehicle I feel is not safe.
Motor warning light lit up and stayed on. Went to an auto zone and their computer showed fuel vapor leak. I was first told the gas cap may be letting out fumes but I have the capless gas input. The truck doesn't act any different but the warning light was a concern to me.
"fuel fill inlet" my truck recently displayed a warning that says "check fuel fill inlet". I've searched the internet and many Ford owners have experience this issue across several models. I've checked the inlet and it is closed as it should be, I've cleaned the area in and around where the fuel nozel goes and there is no debris. This warning causes the "check engine" light to come on and thus generates an "evaporative emissions" code. The " check fuel fill inlet" warning intermittently doesn't come on and thus the check engine light goes off and I'm able to use my remote start. When it comes on I am not able t remote start my vehicle. My vehicle was stationary, parked in front of my house. I got in to start it and the light just came on. It is not an issue that Ford is unaware of and Ford owners have had this issue for nearly 10 years.
The 'check fuel inlet' warning randomly comes on although no debris is in the inlet and the fuel door spring and gasket are in good working condition. The happens randomly when I turn the vehicle on but is occurring more and more frequently.
Takata recall 3. 5l ecoboost engine shudders at various times, stalls while driving at freeway speeds during acceleration (extreme hazard), in traffic (hazard), stalled when stopped quickly while backing, then crank no start after stall.
For the second time in 9 months the throttle body on my Ford truck failed. This time it presented a real hazard as we were towing our travel trailer and it's failure put us in a precarious situation as we're trying to merge onto the interstate. The Ford dealer fixed it the first time under the extended warranty then the second repair they tried to evade payment. However, after extensive discussion, they found a it was covered by the warranty provided on the first warranty replacement. I realize the nhsa is aware of the problem, however the response is inadequate. The problem has not been resolved by Ford, the safety risk is still there. Ford seems to be replacing a defective part with the same item. It continues to fail and now it's the consumer is has to pay the price, both having to pay to have the throttle body repeatedly replaced and risking their safety driving the vehicle.
Hesitation stumbles erratic acceleration. Nothing happens when stepping on accelerator then suddenly takes off.
While driving down the highway, the vehicle flashed service advance trac, down hill descent control fault, trailer brake module fail and a couple more codes. All electonics in vehicle went blank, including all controls/gauges. Before doing so, last code read, shift to park. Almost caused me to have an accident, because the power steering went out and nearly pulled me into another vehicle. The acceleration is bad too, feels like it is not firing all cylinders again. Have already taken in for a number of issues, including crankshaft sensor issues(was losing power to driveline); brakes locking up (have replaced the rotors and pads six times and last time I replaced both calibers as well; power steering has been replaced once before, front axles and bearings replaced. As well as, ac problems. When the first issues arose, I was told by service tech at dealership I needed a new engine, (later he completely denied telling me this) instead they fixed some things and gave it back to me. Problems have continued since, like I said have taken it in at least 6 times to a dealer and once to an independent mechanic. At first the problems were covered by warrenty, now they are not, there is only 78,000miles on the truck and has been in shop at least 6 times and is only 4 yrs old. Not sure what to do, as the problems resemble recall issues, but dealership says they aren't part of any recalls. Concerned for my safety on the road.
