2013 Ford f?150 limited – VIN [xxx] on [xxx], my 2013 Ford f?150 limited experienced a sudden and dangerous transmission failure involving the transmission conductor plate (lead frame). My son was driving the vehicle when the dashboard abruptly shut off, multiple warning lights illuminated, and the truck lost engine power. Shortly afterward, while braking, the engine attempted to accelerate on its own, and the vehicle resisted slowing down. This created an immediate and life?threatening situation. These symptoms match the known failure mode of defective 6r80 transmission lead frames, which NHTSA has previously identified as a serious safety hazard due to sudden loss of power, erratic shifting, unintended acceleration, and dashboard failure. The vehicle became undriveable and could not be safely transported to a Ford dealership. It had to be repaired at a nearby independent shop (auto stop elite of purcellville, va). The conductor plate was replaced on February 12, 2026, at a total cost of $1,689. 59. Despite this being a well?documented safety defect affecting many Ford f?150 owners, no recall or service campaign was ever issued for my VIN. No warnings appeared on Ford’s website, carfax, or through any Ford communication. Other owners have received reimbursement from Ford for the same failure, yet Ford provided no notice or remedy in my case. This defect placed my son’s life in danger and represents a clear safety issue that should be addressed. I am requesting that NHTSA review this incident as part of the ongoing pattern of conductor plate/lead frame failures in Ford’s 6r80 transmissions. We are informing you because we have contacted Ford and they have done nothing to resolve this. We had to have it repaired and were never aware that there was a safety recall. We expect to be reimbursed in full for this repair by Ford. To date - we are being ignored and will now pursue with the virginia attorney general's office as well. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 55.

3 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 09/05/2023

Hello, a few weeks ago while I was heading down highway 49 in tuolumne county, the spindle that holds the front wheel on my truck broke, sending my front left wheel down the opposite direction and my truck crashing down into the asphalt to a sudden stop. Thankfully I was able to maintain control enough of the truck to keep it from running off the road and flipping over. So many things made this a very lucky occurrence for me, because I was heading down the highway to mariposa and many curves that had it happened there, would have sent me off the cliffs many hundreds of feet down. As I was being driven by the tow truck driver talking about my accident, we realized he had never seen this ever happen before. I was also told by the mechanic that something like this "just does not happen and should never happen". I could have had my entire family with me and we could have all perished because of a failure that "is not supposed to happen". I have also read there is a huge recall for this part on these trucks, although my truck does not fall under the recall and this is why I am asking for your help. I have saved all the broken parts, have photos of them all and of the truck broken on the side of the road. I feel this issue should be brought to the attention of Ford, but they will not talk to me about it, which is why I am reaching out to you. I also have a bit of ptsd, because I am scared to drive my truck because I am worried the new replaced part, could have a similar defect, so I will not allow passengers to ride with me until it is confirmed safe to drive. The problem was not reproduced by anyone. The vehicle was not inspected, although the chp was on scene, but I have not checked to see if a report was filed there was absolutely no advanced warning of any kind. The wheel just suddenly broke off. Is this something you can address and help me with?.

I have had the Ford truck death wobble, I barely missed a head on collision because of it. This has now happened several times, it starts unexpectedly when going 55 to 60 mph and hit a slight pump or unevenness on the road the front end of the truck goes into to a severe vibration and wobble that rapidly gets worse and make the truck uncontrollable and vary dangerous. The only way to stop the death wobble is to immediately slam on the breaks and come to a complete rapid stop. I cant believe this hasn't already been taken care of by Ford giving how many of us out here are experiencing this issue. When this truck goes into to this violent wobble it is vary difficult to control, I am a 240lb male and almost collided head on with an oncoming car, if my wife was driving this truck when this happened her and the people in the oncoming car would have most likely died!.

Ford 2013 F-150 both front shocks leaking at 32,000 miles. Dealer states this is not normal and they need to be replaced. Warranty expired Jan 2016. Extended warranty covers mcpherson strut but not the leaky shock inside the strut assy. Corporate Ford states they will not warranty. Ford knows about this issue as they have released a tech service advisory about weeping struts.

8 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2016

I purchased my 2013 Ford f150 three weeks ago, certified pre-owned from mountain view Ford in chattanooga, TN. While pulling out of my driveway this morning, the truck was engaged in 4x4h mode,(due to inclement weather) it started making a terrible popping noise that sounded like the front left tire was coming off as I was turning to the right. I pulled over and let the car idle for a while. I then kept driving and when going up a steep hill it started doing it again, so I pulled over at a gas station and the loud popping/banging noise happened again as I was turning left this time. It was so loud it startled the customers who were fueling their vehicles. Sounded like a piece of metal snapping in two. Is this related to NHTSA # 10058199? or Ford TSB 44964? I had to disengage the 4x4h and put my truck back in 4x2h a to make the noise stop. We had icy roads this morning, which is the reason I purchased a 4x4 to begin with.

9 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2015

From time to time the truck starts to shake violently and have to pull over and stop. It shakes all the time from the rear between 45 and 60 mph. Has been back to dealer 3 or 4 times with no results. The last visit I was told this normal, after some research there seems to be a lot of complaints about this. I have had this truck a yr and 1/2 put 10,000 miles on it because im afraid something is going to shake out of it. Ford should be ashamed taking peoples money for trucks they cant use.

10 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/17/2014

2013 Ford f150 ecoboost supercrew (157" wb) when loaded exhibits pulse/bucking/shaking when taking off from a stop. Noticeably worse as more load is applied. Vehicle is rate with payload of 1500 lbs and it only takes 200-300 lbs in the bed to feel it and when you have 700-800 lbs it literally bucks. Had at dealer multiple times and been in contact with Ford tech line who all say that no damage or safety issue exists and to live with it. I paid $42k for this vehicle and now I can't even put anything into the bed to to unsafe starts that are going to leave me stranded. To make matters worse the computer tries to compensate for the vibrations and starts to lower power causing it to not go which is dangerous in left hand turn situations. The tech said there was nothing they could do as Ford states these are known issues.

11 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2014

My Ford 150 v8 supercab at 32 miles per hour starts shaking the whole truck and vibrates. It does this regardless of road conditions and or gear the truck is in. It only goes away when you drop below 32 or go faster than 35.

12 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2014

The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the tires were rubbing against the wheel well and chunks of the tire were peeling off. The contact stated that the failure was caused by the factory after market lift kit that was installed on the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician attempted to remedy the failure four times by cutting part of the wheel well out. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 4,800.

13 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2013

The truck I bought has been shaking since the day I picked it up and brought it home. At 55 mph the truck has a distinct wobble. It has been back to sharpnack Ford twice for the problem and I was told they drove four other trucks on their lot and they all do the same thing. Also they took the tires off of mine and swapped them with another truck with the same result. I was told they took the drive shaft apart and rebuilt it, still no fix. After two times back to the shop, I was told by the head mechanic that Ford told him no more repairs will be done to this truck. I can see the bed wobble as I am going down the road and am confident this is where the problem is. Ford is not willing to do anything about it claiming the frequency is within specification limits. I have also driven a 2012 and a 2013 and both of them do the same thing. I'm not sure this is a problem that will cause imminent danger to anyone unless you factor in the"road rage" someone will have after paying 45k for a brand new piece of garbage that the manufacturer refuses to do anything about to fix.

14 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2013

While driving in a straight line under 40 mph I can feel a banging in the steering wheel traveling up the steering column it feels like the front of the truck is loose. This happens while driving on smooth roads as well as rougher roads, and is more pronounced when the temps outside go above 75 degrees and the longer I drive it the worse it gets, if it is a cooler day out it does not happen. Ford service dept. Wants to change out the lower steering shaft, but I don't think that is going to solve the problem. I know there are issues with the electronic power steering units in these trucks that cause these symptoms. I don't think a brand new $50,000 truck with 1600 miles on it should be having any problems.

15 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2012

I experienced a knocking in the steering wheel when driving over small bumps. . It feels like something is loose in the steering. It is getting worse in hot weather. Dealer said it is normal.
